Scripture reminds us that true wisdom does not reside in the counsel of the clever or the advice that merely sounds prudent to our own ears. The prophet Isaiah pronounced a woe upon those who are wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight. The world’s wisdom often leads us to trust in shifting circumstances or human strategies, but God alone knows the path He has prepared for you.

Consider how even the donkey knows his master’s crib; he understands where his provision comes from. How much more does your heavenly Father know the exact shelter you need and the resources to secure it? He not only offers perfect counsel but also the power to carry it out. You may have heard many pieces of advice, and some may conflict, but when you ask for wisdom from above, the kind that James speaks of, given generously without reproach, God will guide you to a decision and then provide the strength and means to walk in it.

Think of Daniel, an old man called in when all the king’s wise men failed. He did not lean on his own intellect but on the God who reveals mysteries. In your situation, the mystery of the right living place is fully known to God. Ask Him to silence the noise of competing voices so you can hear His direction clearly. Pray not just for a cheap roof, but for the place He has chosen for your good and His glory, trusting that He sees the end from the beginning. He who knows the fall of every sparrow and the number of hairs on your head will certainly lead you to what you need, in any circumstance.

So I will join you in praying for God’s provision of an affordable home and, even more, for His wisdom to rule in your heart. May He grant you the humility to set aside all self-reliance and every piece of advice that does not align with His Word, and may you find rest in the One who both guides and enables.
