We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your family and the burdens you carry. The Scriptures tell us in Ephesians 6:12, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." We acknowledge that there is indeed a spiritual battle raging, and we stand together in faith to rebuke every evil influence that seeks to harm your family.
First, we must address the foundation of our faith. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and the power to overcome darkness. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not already, we encourage you to place your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, for it is through Him that we find true victory and protection.
Now, we boldly declare the power of the blood of Jesus over your family. The Word of God assures us in Revelation 12:11, "They overcame him because of the Lamb’s blood, and because of the word of their testimony." We rebuke every generational curse, every spirit of bad luck, and every evil influence in the mighty name of Jesus. We break their power and command them to leave your family permanently, never to return. In James 4:7, we are told, "Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
We pray a hedge of protection around each member of your family, as it is written in Psalm 91:10-11, "No evil shall happen to you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways." Father, we ask that You surround them with Your angels, shielding them from harm and guiding their steps. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
We also pray for wisdom and discernment for your family. In 2 Corinthians 2:11, we are warned not to be ignorant of Satan’s devices, so that he may not outwit us. Lord, grant them the ability to recognize and resist the enemy’s schemes, standing firm in the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18). Let them be rooted and grounded in Your love, walking in the light of Your truth.
Heavenly Father, we ask that You would heal any wounds, restore any broken relationships, and bring unity to this family. May they seek You with all their hearts, finding strength and hope in Your promises. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that they will walk in the victory that Christ has already won for them.

Do you speak of “bad luck” and a vague, impersonal evil haunting your household? Such language is beneath a soul that has looked upon the cross. The Scripture does not trifle with luck; it speaks of the curse. And until a man sees that he himself is under the curse of the law for his own sin, he will always mistake the chastening hand of a merciful God for the random malice of fortune. Dare you sleep another night under the curse? The great evil on your family is the same evil that rests upon all Adam’s race, sin, and the righteous sentence of death that follows it. Until that is dealt with, no prayer for safety has a firm foundation.
But there is a deliverance! Not a mere temporary lifting of misfortune, but a redemption from the curse itself. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us. He stood in our place, and the terrors of God fell upon Him instead of upon His people. That is the permanent removal of evil. When the lamb was slain, the destroying angel passed over. If you would be safe, you must be sheltered under that blood. Do not look for a spell to break a generational hex, but look to a Substitute to bear your personal guilt. The clock of mercy must strike its hour for you, and it strikes for all who will hear the gospel command to look and live.
As for safety, know this: no evil can come apart from Divine permission. When Shimei cursed David, the king said, “Let him curse, because the Lord hath said unto him, Curse David.” All your ills lie within the fence of Omnipotent overruling. If the Lord has chastened you sorely, it is with a design. Pain of body and trouble of soul often wrap up great mercy within themselves. He delivers us from going down into the pit by making the bed of sickness itself a preacher of repentance. Cease crying out against an unknown evil, and humbly own the great evil of your own sin. Then shall you find that He has delivered you from the power of darkness, and translated you into the kingdom of His dear Son.
Let your conduct after this be a declaration. If you have truly found deliverance, you shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. Overcome the evil you have known by the good you have received. Answer reviling with blessing, and so prove that the curse has no more power to wound your soul. The deliverance God gives is an eternal one, nor shall the infernal lion ever rend one sheep that the Great Shepherd deigns to keep. Trust in my Lord, and I bid you rejoice that Christ has redeemed you from the curse, for then your safety is sealed forever.

Many people attribute their troubles to some vague evil or misfortune, but the Scriptures teach us that the evils we suffer are often the very means by which God works our salvation. The present age is called evil not because time itself is wicked, but because of sinful deeds and the power of the devil over those who surrender to him. If distress has come upon your house, examine your conscience. A pure conscience testifies that we are not persecuted for wrongdoing; that testimony becomes our comfort and even our crown, for it is far greater to endure affliction with innocence than to escape every difficulty.
Consider Joseph. His brothers sold him, his mistress falsely accused him, yet these very things placed him in safety. The prison was gentler than the house of that wild beast; what seemed ruin prepared his deliverance and made him a savior for many. So do not think that to have all evil removed is the truest safety. God often uses what we call bad luck to draw us near to Himself, to free us from the greater danger of soul-destroying sin. Christ Himself did not promise that His followers would avoid calumny or persecution, but that in enduring with grace they would be kept secure.
The devil, who is the ruler of this darkness, has power only over those who give themselves to him. Christ has overcome him, having nothing in him, and He gave Himself for our sins to deliver us from this present evil age. Through Him we receive adoption as sons and are freed from the curse. Therefore, do not seek only to cast off an outward evil as if by incantation, but turn to Him with true repentance. If there is sin in your family, renounce it, for iniquity makes love grow cold and dissolves even natural affection. The safety you ask for is found in clinging to Christ, so that whether you live or die, you are delivered from every evil work into His heavenly kingdom.

You have asked for prayer about a sense of evil on your family, something that you believe is causing what you call bad luck for yourself and others. It is a serious thing to feel that there is a dark shadow over your household, and it is right to cry out to God for help. Yet as you seek freedom, it is important to understand what evil truly is according to Scripture. Evil is not an impersonal force of misfortune; it is rooted in sin and in the will of the evil one. Jesus Himself encountered and cast out many evil spirits, demonstrating His complete authority over them. But He did not leave us with a formula or a ritual. He taught us to pray, “Deliver us from evil,” and to trust that His kingdom breaks every chain.
When you speak of a family pattern or a generational weight, remember that God’s word shows us both the reality of family lines and the personal responsibility each of us carries. The genealogies in Scripture trace blessing and curse, yet they never let a person hide behind their ancestors. Zechariah and Elizabeth walked righteously, while others in their nation fell under the judgment of evil rulers like Herod. No one is doomed to repeat the sins of their parents without hope. If your family has a history of specific sin, whether it be bitterness, dishonesty, sexual immorality, or something else, that sin is first and foremost an offense against God, just as David cried out, “Against you, you only, have I sinned and done this great evil.” True and lasting release begins with repentance, naming those deeds as evil in God’s sight, and turning to Christ for forgiveness and new life.
Be careful in your desperation. There are many who will promise quick spiritual cures or special prayers to remove a supposed curse, preying on those who are afraid. Scripture warns that you can become a victim of such deception. Your safety and your family’s deliverance do not lie in chasing after someone who claims to see what only God can see. Instead, do what Jesus taught in the model of prayer: draw near to the Father with persistence, ask for His will to be done in your home, seek daily provision for your souls, and plead for protection from the evil one.
As for safety, God has promised that He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. That does not mean we will never face hardship, but it means we are held in His care. Often, what we later call bad luck is actually the harvest of foolish choices, a split-second decision driven by pride or carelessness. Ask the Lord for wisdom for every family member, that you would walk in the light and avoid the snares that bring harm.
Do not simply ask God to remove something. Entrust your whole family to the Lord Jesus Christ. He is able to break any spiritual bondage and to protect you from evil. As you humble yourselves before Him, may He fill your home with His peace and make His presence the true safety you long for.
