Prayers for my eyesight & health, please. Thank you.

[Articles]

We come before the Lord with hearts full of compassion and faith, lifting up this request for healing and restoration of eyesight and health. The Bible assures us that God is our healer, and we stand on His promises as we pray.

Father in Heaven, we thank You for Your love and mercy that endures forever. We know that You see every need and hear every prayer. Your Word tells us in Jeremiah 17:14, "Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me, and I will be saved, for You are my praise." We claim this promise over this situation, believing that You are able to restore health and bring clarity to sight.

Lord, we ask that You touch these eyes and bring healing to every part of this body that needs Your divine intervention. We pray against any illness, weakness, or condition that is affecting this precious life. Your Word declares in Psalm 103:2-3, "Praise the Lord, my soul, and don’t forget all His benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases." We trust in Your healing power and ask that You move mightily in this situation.

We also pray for strength and peace during this time. May this individual feel Your presence and comfort, knowing that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Grant wisdom to doctors and caregivers, and guide every decision that is made regarding treatment and care.

In all things, we give You the glory, for You are the Great Physician, and Your love never fails. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names, through whom we have access to Your throne of grace. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and to trust in His timing and will. Remember that God’s plans for you are good, and He desires to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Keep your faith strong, and lean on Him for strength and comfort. If there are any areas in your life where you need to surrender more fully to God’s will, we encourage you to do so, for His ways are perfect and His love is steadfast.

We’re joining you in prayer for your eyesight and overall health. When something like this weighs on us, it can be hard not to let our thoughts run toward worst-case scenarios, but we’ve seen how bringing those fears to God, even in the simplest words, can quiet our hearts and help us wait with a steadier trust.

Alongside prayer, we’d gently encourage you to see an eye doctor or other medical professional if you haven’t already. God often works through the skill and insight He’s given physicians, and getting a clear picture of what’s going on can be a real act of wisdom. You don’t have to choose between faith and good medical care; they can go hand in hand.

In the meantime, we’re asking Him to sustain you physically and emotionally, and to give you His peace as you walk through this.

Lord Jesus, thank You for this person who has reached out. You know the specific concerns about their eyesight and their body. Where there is fear, please quiet it with Your presence. Where there is weakness, bring strength. We ask for Your healing hand, for clear direction in any next steps, and for the comfort of knowing they are not alone, that You see them and are near. Give wisdom to every professional involved, and keep their hope anchored in You. In Your name we pray, amen.

You bring your bodily need before the Lord, and that is well, for He careth for our frames, remembering that we are dust. Yet let us go beyond the eye and the flesh to the soul’s vision and its true health. There is one great Physician, Jesus Christ, whose touch restoreth sight to the blind and strength to the palsied. His leaves are for the healing of the nations, and His presence is the Tree of Life. He doth not merely patch up the outward man, but He first speaketh pardon: "Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee." Then healing floweth as a river.

Look to Him now, as Peter looked, when the Lord turned and cast upon him a glance of sorrowful love. That look restoreth. It severed Peter from the crowd and brought him to tears of repentance and then to joyful service. So I bid thee, fix thy faith’s eyes upon Jesus. Though thine earthly eyes fail, yet the eyes of thy heart may behold the King in His beauty. And if thou hast already trusted Him, remember that a little patience is but a small price for the eternal health that awaiteth thee. If thou wert sure of perfect sight tomorrow, thou wouldst speak little of today’s dimness. How much more, then, when the glory-life is near, where the inhabitant shall no more say, "I am sick"?

I join my prayers with thine. May the healing virtue which dropped from the hem of His garment fall upon thee, and may the Sun of Righteousness arise with healing in His wings. But seek first that inner healing which is the soul’s true sight: the forgiveness of sins and the life of God within. For when the Lord taketh us by the hand of His incarnate sympathy, His cool grasp doth cool our fevers, and His health becometh ours, so that we rise up to minister unto Him. God grant thee this double cure, and bring thee to the land where the leaves of the tree are ever green and the eyes of the redeemed shall see the King in His glory. Amen.

[Chrysostom]

When you ask for prayers for your eyesight, you do well, for the Lord who formed the eye can surely restore it. But while I entreat Him for your bodily health, I urge you to seek first the healing of the inner man. The woman in the Gospel was not only freed from her fever by Christ’s touch, but at that very moment her full strength returned, a wholeness no physician could give. Far worse than dim eyes is a soul that prefers darkness to light, refusing to see its own sins.

Do not let this affliction drive you to despair, but let it be a medicine, pulling you more eagerly into the assembly of the saints where heavenly words are spoken. There, even if relief delays, the repeated hearing of the truth acts like the many blows that finally fell a tree, and suddenly the fruit of genuine health appears. The beggar Lazarus, covered in sores, had no earthly comfort, yet he was carried to Abraham’s bosom, while the rich man, robust and well fed, found only torment. True richness is not in a body free of pain, but in a soul so content that it needs nothing the world can offer.

So pray not only for your eyes to see this light, but for the eyes of your heart to behold the unending day of the kingdom. He who raises the sick can also raise the fallen; only take care that when health returns, you do not become remiss and slip into a worse infirmity. We will continue to lift your need before the throne of grace.
