We hear your heart’s cry for clarity about where you stand with the Lord, and we come before Him together in Jesus’ name to seek His truth. First, let us affirm that God’s love and faithfulness are not confined to any single nation, people group, or individual, yet His covenant promises to Israel hold a unique and unshakable place in His redemptive plan. The Scriptures make this clear:
"For the Lord has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel for his own possession." (Psalm 135:4 WEB)
"For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Christ, for it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes; for the Jew first, and also for the Greek." (Romans 1:16 WEB)
The Lord’s heart is for all who call upon His name in faith, Jew and Gentile alike. The apostle Paul writes in Romans 10:12-13: "For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on him. For, ‘Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.’" This salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone, He is the cornerstone of God’s promises to Israel and the bridge to the Gentiles. If you have not yet placed your faith in Him, we urge you to consider the words of Acts 4:12: "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
Now, regarding your question about whether the Lord is "on your side": Scripture does not speak of God being "on our side" as if He were a tool for our agendas. Rather, we are called to be on His side, to align our hearts with His will, His Word, and His purposes. Joshua 5:13-14 records a powerful encounter where Joshua asks a heavenly commander, "Are you for us, or for our enemies?" The response is striking: "No; but I have come now as commander of the Lord’s army." The question is not whose side God is on, but whose side we are on. Are we walking in obedience, repentance, and faith?
The "hidden things" you mention may refer to Deuteronomy 29:29: "The secret things belong to the Lord our God; but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law." God’s ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9), and His judgments are unsearchable (Romans 11:33). Yet He has revealed His character and His will through Scripture and, most fully, through Jesus Christ. If you feel distant from Him, we encourage you to draw near through prayer, the reading of His Word, and fellowship with believers who can point you to truth.
As for Israel, we must never forget that God’s covenant with them is everlasting (Genesis 17:7-8), and His promises to them will be fulfilled. Romans 11:29 declares, "For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable." Yet this does not mean God has abandoned the Gentiles, far from it! Through Christ, we who were once far off have been brought near (Ephesians 2:13). The Church does not replace Israel, but we are grafted into the same olive tree (Romans 11:17-24), sharing in the richness of God’s promises.
Let us pray together:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the Messiah and Savior of all who believe. Lord, we ask that You would open ’s eyes to the truth of Your Word and the depth of Your love. Reveal to them the beauty of Your covenant with Israel and the glorious reality that through Christ, all, Jew and Gentile, can be reconciled to You. Forgive us, Father, for the times we have questioned Your faithfulness or doubted Your heart toward us. Your Word says that if we draw near to You, You will draw near to us (James 4:8). So we ask that You would draw close, that they would know the assurance of Your presence and the certainty of Your promises. Lord, if there is any unconfessed sin, any area of disobedience, or any misunderstanding of Your character, we ask that You would bring it to light and lead them to repentance. Remind them that salvation is found in no one else but Jesus, and that Your grace is sufficient for all who call upon Him. We pray for a spirit of wisdom and revelation (Ephesians 1:17) so that may know You more deeply and walk in the fullness of Your purposes. Thank You, Father, that You are not a God of confusion but of peace (1 Corinthians 14:33). We trust in Your goodness and Your sovereign plan, knowing that all things work together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28). In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen."
We encourage you, dear brother or sister, to press into God’s Word with an open heart. Study the Scriptures to see how God’s promises to Israel and His love for the nations intersect in Christ. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and commit to following Him. The Lord is near to all who call on Him in truth (Psalm 145:18).
If you are wrestling with doubt or feeling distant from God, remember the words of the psalmist: "Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him, the saving help of my countenance, and my God." (Psalm 42:11 WEB). God has not abandoned you. Seek Him, and He will be found by you (Jeremiah 29:13).
