Your cry for justice and deliverance has not gone unheard. You are facing something that feels like a nest of evil, where the very people who should help have failed, where truth has fallen in the street and false witnesses rise up. When human help proves vain, there is a refuge that never fails. Through prayer we open the door for God to do what He has been longing to do all along: bring His kingdom and His righteous will into our tangled lives. But this kind of prayer begins with relationship. If you can call God “Father” because you have turned to Jesus Christ in repentance and faith, then you have the privilege of bringing every need before Him. If that relationship is not yet real, the only prayer He waits to hear from your lips is, “God be merciful to me, a sinner.” From that place of humble surrender, everything changes.

It is natural to want God to punish those who have done evil and to plead for justice. David prayed, “Deliver me from the workers of iniquity … attend unto my prayer.” God is not indifferent to oppression, and He will tread down every enemy in His time. Yet the heart of prayer is not merely getting help from God but getting God Himself. If we seek only deliverance without the Deliverer, we miss the deeper healing. When the power of Jesus Christ enters a life, darkness must go. So let your first request be for His kingdom to come and His will to be done in and through this trial, and then bring your personal need for protection and justice into that wider frame.

Be careful with your own spirit as you pray. The tongue can cry out for righteous judgment or it can slip into guile and bitterness. The wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle. Depart from evil; do not let your own heart be tempted to repay evil for evil. When you are slandered or misrepresented, remember that God’s eyes are on the righteous and His ears are open to their cry. He sees the truth when men refuse to see it. He will not abandon you or your mother to those who lie in wait for your soul.

Keep praying even when it feels like you are at the ends of the earth, far from any holy place. Prayer brings you into the position of victory and confidence, not because you are strong, but because the Lord fights for you. Find times to pour out your heart to Him, and if possible, share this burden with a trusted believer who can stand with you in intercession. The prayer of entrance, inviting the rule of Christ into every dark corner, is far stronger than any merely religious ceremony. He will break the nest of evil, for no chain can withstand His light. Through God you and your mother will do valiantly, for it is He who treads down every enemy. Trust Him, seek His face more than the gift, and watch how He makes a way where there seems to be none.
