You cry out to the Most High, asking how your deeds match your words, how your testimony and confession stand before God. Hear then, from the Scripture, the path of true assurance. The Lord Jesus made the good confession before Pilate, declaring He came to bear witness to the truth. Yet that confession was not mere speech; His whole life was the testimony, and His works shouted louder than any voice. When John the Baptist was questioned, he pointed not to himself but to Him who sent him, for no man can receive anything except it be given him from heaven. So too must your confession have its root in God, not in the praise of men.

Do not trust in loud cries or many words. The woman who serves in quiet faithfulness, like she whom the Apostle praised, is blessed not by noise but by love shown in deeds. The kingdom comes not to those who merely speak but to those in whom Christ’s power casts out the darkness. Let your life be the answer to your prayer. If you walk in the light, your deeds will be seen as done in God. But if your words ring hollow while your heart clings to evil, you remain in the shadows, unwilling to be reproved.

You ask for help, and the help is near. The Apostle came not with eloquent speech but declaring the testimony of God, knowing nothing save Jesus Christ and Him crucified. In your distress, cling to this alone. Do not wage war against your own salvation by seeking signs or angelic interventions above the plain gospel. The testimony of deeds, patience, purity, mercy, this is the unshakeable witness. Let your confession be daily; let your life itself be the good confession. For what is asked of you is not perfection by your own strength, but to come faithfully to the Light, who is Christ, and to remain there, trusting that His deeds, not yours, are the ground of hope. He hears the cry of the humble. Only be still, cease from anxious turmoil, and do the truth in love.

There are moments when the only prayer left is a desperate cry, and I believe the Spirit hears every word even when they tangle together like this. You are asking how your deeds, your words, your testimony, your very family background can ever match what has been asked of you, and the cry “Help!” rises straight to Jesus Christ. That is a cry He never ignores.

So often we turn to our own strength, to religious effort, or to the arm of flesh around us. We look for some formula, some way to do better, some self-help program that will make us worthy. But in Romans 7, Paul reaches the end of all that striving. He stops asking “How can I change?” and instead cries out, “Who shall deliver me?” He had learned that the “I” cannot fix the “I.” The answer broke through when he looked outside himself: thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Your cry is in exactly the right place.

The help you need will not come from your own deeds or your family’s past, as if you had to untangle every thread before God would hear. Vain is the help of man, and that includes our own frantic attempts to pull ourselves out of the pit. The psalmist cried from what felt like the ends of the earth, from the middle of hostile surroundings, from traps he had partly sprung on himself, and yet he testified: I waited patiently for the Lord; He inclined unto me and heard my cry; He brought me up out of the horrible pit and set my feet upon a rock. God’s mercy endures forever, even when our trouble is of our own making.

Your words echo the heart of so many psalms: “Give us help from trouble, for vain is the help of man.” That is not a statement of despair; it is a statement of true sight. When we finally realize that our help comes only from the Lord who made heaven and earth, we are looking in the right direction. He does not need us to assist Him, as if Jesus needed Peter’s sword in the garden. He is able to stretch out His hand and do the job completely.

Right now, your testimony and confession are not a neat, polished statement, but a raw appeal from the depths. That is precious to Him. The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry. You are not a stranger to Him; you are a sojourner whose tears He collects. Cast the whole jumble of deeds and words and family history onto Him, because He cares for you. Through God you will do valiantly, not by your own might, but because it is He who treads down your enemies.

Do not fear that your cry is too loud, too messy, or too full of questions. The stone itself would cry out if we were silent. Let your heart break forth and cry to Him who went forth for the salvation of His people. He hears. He delivers. He will lead you into His path of righteousness, not as a reward for a spotless record, but because you are the poor and needy who cry to Him, and precious is your blood in His sight.
