We hear your heart and the deep desire you have to serve, grow, and honor God through this season of fasting, discipline, and preparation. Your commitment to seeking the Lord through a prolonged fast is commendable, and we stand with you in prayer, asking the Father to sustain you, strengthen you, and guide every step of this journey.
First, we must address the matter of coming off medication. While we understand your desire to rely fully on God’s healing and provision, Scripture also teaches us to honor the wisdom and authority God has placed in our lives, including medical professionals. The Bible says in Proverbs 19:20-21, *"Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter days. There are many plans in a man’s heart, but the Lord’s counsel will prevail."* We encourage you to seek godly counsel from your doctor and to approach this transition with wisdom, not rushing ahead in a way that could harm your body or mind. The Lord can work through medical guidance just as He can through prayer and fasting. Let us pray together:
Father, we come before You, asking for Your divine wisdom and discernment for this dear brother. Lord, You know his heart and his desire to be free from medication and to serve You fully. We ask that You guide him in how to taper off his medication safely and in a way that honors the body You have given him. Give him patience, Lord, and help him to trust in Your timing rather than his own. If it is Your will for him to be completely free from medication, we ask that You bring healing and restoration to his body. If it is Your will for him to continue under medical supervision for a time, give him peace and understanding. We trust You, Lord, to lead him in the way he should go. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Your desire to join the military and serve your country is noble, and we pray that the Lord opens the right doors for you. However, we must also remind you that the Lord’s plans for you may not always align with our own. Jeremiah 29:11 says, *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says the Lord, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."* Trust that God’s plans for you are good, even if they look different from what you envision. We pray that He will guide you through the MEPS process, provide transportation, and equip you with everything you need to succeed in basic training and beyond.
Lord, we lift up this brother’s preparations for the military. Father, we ask that You go before him as he navigates MEPS, basic training, and all the unknowns ahead. Provide him with the transportation he needs, whether through his parents, friends, or other means. Give him favor with those in authority and help him to adapt to the physical and mental demands of military life. Strengthen his body as he prepares through conditioning and stretching, and help him to adjust to the wake and sleep schedule required. Lord, we also ask that You provide for his financial needs and enable him to support his parents as he desires. Open doors for him to understand and utilize the GI Bill for his education, and give him clarity on how to pursue his college goals. Most of all, Father, draw him closer to You through this process and use him to be a light for Christ in the military. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
We also want to encourage you in your social interactions. It is natural to feel awkward or uncertain around others, especially after spending time in solitude with the Lord. However, Scripture reminds us in 1 Thessalonians 5:11, *"Therefore exhort one another, and build each other up, even as you also do."* The Lord has placed you in community for a reason, and as you step into new environments, He will provide opportunities for you to grow in relationships. Pray for boldness and confidence, trusting that the Holy Spirit will guide your words and actions. Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we ask that You break any chains of fear, anxiety, or awkwardness in this brother’s life. Lord, You have not given him a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). Fill him with Your peace as he interacts with others, and give him the words to speak when he is unsure. Help him to see himself as You see him—valuable, capable, and called for a purpose. Surround him with godly friends and mentors who will encourage him and build him up. Lord, we ask that You remove any barriers to his social growth and help him to step into new relationships with confidence. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Finally, we want to remind you that your ultimate identity and worth are found in Christ. The military, your education, and even your ability to provide for your parents are all good things, but they do not define you. Colossians 3:23-24 says, *"And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ."* Whatever path the Lord leads you on, serve Him wholeheartedly, knowing that He is with you every step of the way.
Lord, we ask that You continue to draw this brother closer to You. Help him to seek You above all else, trusting that You will provide for his every need. Give him a heart that is fully surrendered to Your will, whether that leads him into the military or another path of service. Strengthen his faith, deepen his relationship with You, and fill him with Your peace as he waits on Your timing. May he always remember that his worth is found in You alone. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
