I'm looking for a future in the army. I've been studying for the ASVAB and driver's license, and will begin physical conditioning soon. I am prescribed 2 medications, one of which is at its maximum dose. My prayers are to be able to function and perform without medication in order for me to join the army. I hope my doctor allows me to cold turkey the medication. I hope I don't have to return to this medication, it has been pleasant though. Today is my ###th day of fasting. I'm planning to fast for ### days. I once again, hope I am symptom-free without the medication. I hope my processing through MEPS, basic combat training, and AIT goes smoothly. I hope Almighty God Jesus helps me to pass and be useful. LORD, please help my parents willingly support me as I choose to join the army. Thanks Jesus.

We hear your heart and stand with you in prayer as you seek God’s will in this season of fasting, preparation, and pursuit of military service. Your discipline in fasting, studying, and physical conditioning reflects a commendable dedication, and we join you in asking the Lord to strengthen you in body, mind, and spirit.

First, we must address the matter of your medications with both truth and compassion. While your desire to serve without them is understandable, abruptly stopping prescribed medication—especially at maximum dosage—can be dangerous and is not wise without medical supervision. The Bible instructs us, *"Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your body, and strength to your bones"* (Proverbs 3:7-8). Trusting God does not mean rejecting the wisdom He provides through doctors and medical professionals. We pray that your physician will guide you with discernment, whether that means tapering off safely or exploring alternatives. The Lord is your healer (Exodus 15:26), but He often works through means He has ordained.

Your fasting is a powerful act of seeking God’s face, and we rejoice in your commitment. However, fasting should never be an end in itself but a means to draw nearer to Him. Jesus warned against fasting for show (Matthew 6:16-18) and instead called us to fast in humility, seeking His will above our own. As you continue, ask the Lord to reveal His purposes for this season—whether it’s spiritual clarity, physical endurance, or a deeper reliance on Him. *"But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well"* (Matthew 6:33).

Your desire to serve in the army is noble, and we pray that the Lord will open doors for you at MEPS, basic training, and beyond. The apostle Paul likened the Christian life to a soldier’s discipline (2 Timothy 2:3-4), and your commitment to preparation reflects that same spirit. We ask God to grant you favor with recruiters, strength in training, and wisdom in every decision. May He equip you not just for service but for the unique calling He has on your life. *"The Lord is my strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in him, and I am helped"* (Psalm 28:7).

We also lift up your parents, asking the Lord to soften their hearts and grant them peace about your decision. It’s natural for parents to worry, but we pray they would see this as part of God’s plan for you. *"Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 'Honor your father and mother,' which is the first commandment with a promise: 'that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.'"* (Ephesians 6:1-3). May they support you not out of obligation but out of trust in the Lord’s leading.

Finally, we must emphasize that your hope rests not in your own efforts but in the name of Jesus Christ. You mentioned "Almighty God Jesus" and "LORD," but we want to remind you that salvation and access to God come only through faith in Jesus. *"There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12). If you have not already, we encourage you to surrender your life fully to Him, trusting in His grace alone. Your fasting, your service, and your future are secure in His hands.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of faith for our brother in Christ. Lord, You see his discipline, his fasting, and his desire to serve. We ask that You would strengthen his body and mind as he prepares for the ASVAB, his driver’s test, and physical training. Give him wisdom in managing his medications, and guide his doctor’s decisions so that he may serve You and his country with health and clarity.

Father, we pray for his journey through MEPS, basic training, and AIT. Grant him favor, endurance, and a spirit of excellence. May he be a light to those around him, reflecting Your love and truth in every situation. Soften the hearts of his parents, Lord, and help them to trust in Your plan for their son.

Above all, we ask that You would draw him closer to You. May this season of fasting deepen his reliance on You, and may he find his identity and purpose in Christ alone. We declare that no weapon formed against him will prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that You will complete the good work You have begun in him (Philippians 1:6).

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We're right there with you, fasting and praying for your journey. Today, we want to encourage you with a verse from Isaiah 40:31, "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." We believe that as you trust in the Lord, He will give you the strength and endurance you need for this season.

We also want to share a personal story. A friend of ours once struggled with a similar situation. They were prescribed medication, but wanted to serve in the military without it. They prayed, fasted, and trusted God. Their doctor, under God's guidance, helped them taper off safely. They went on to serve, symptom-free, and are now thriving. We pray the same for you.

Today, let's focus on the spiritual aspect of your fasting. In Matthew 6:16-18, Jesus says, "When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." Let's keep our hearts right before the Lord, seeking His will above our own.

Let's pray together: "Dear Lord, we come before You today, lifting up our brother. Lord, You see his dedication, his fasting, and his desire to serve. We ask that You would strengthen him, give him wisdom in managing his medications, and guide his doctor's decisions. We pray for his journey through MEPS, basic training, and AIT. Grant him favor, endurance, and a spirit of excellence. Soften the hearts of his parents, Lord, and help them trust in Your plan for their son. Above all, Lord, draw him closer to You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
