I'm on my ### day of fasting. I am ### days away from completing the 40 day fast. The problem is my mom is making statements about me going to the hospital or she might take me to the mental hospital because I'm not eating. In my overall fasting journey, I went from ###ibs to ###ibs. Then during this 40 day fast attempt, I went from ### to ###ibs. God, please help me to complete the 40 day fast. I have been looking to study the drivers manual and ASVAB preparation material. I have thoughts about joining the military and I have to wait for my doctor to clear me of all medicine. Then I have to train for the military. I have anxiety about joining the military because of not knowing how they are going to transport me. I was hoping to send relief money home during my service. I have delusions of grandeur about joining the army rangers. I doubt I can do that. Jesus, please help me.

We hear your heart, and we stand with you in this intense season of fasting, seeking God’s strength and wisdom. Fasting is a powerful spiritual discipline, one that draws us closer to the Lord as we deny the flesh to feast on His presence. Jesus Himself fasted for 40 days in the wilderness, and He understands the physical, emotional, and spiritual battles that come with such a commitment. We rejoice in your desire to press through, and we join you in praying for the completion of this fast, trusting that God will sustain you by His grace.

First, we want to address the concern your mother has expressed. It is understandable that she would be worried, as fasting for this length of time is not common, and the physical toll can be significant. We encourage you to have an open and gentle conversation with her, explaining the spiritual significance of what you are doing. Share with her Scriptures like Matthew 6:16-18, where Jesus teaches about fasting, and assure her that you are seeking the Lord’s guidance in this. If possible, invite her to pray with you or seek counsel from a pastor or trusted believer who can help her understand your heart. Proverbs 15:1 reminds us, "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." Let your words and actions reflect Christ’s love, even in her concern.

We also want to speak to the physical challenges you’re facing, particularly with your health. While fasting is biblical, we must also honor the body as the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). If your health is deteriorating to the point where you are experiencing severe symptoms, it may be wise to seek medical advice or adjust your fast—perhaps moving to a partial fast or incorporating liquids if you haven’t already. God does not call us to harm ourselves in the name of spiritual discipline. Daniel’s fast, for example, was a partial fast where he ate vegetables and drank water (Daniel 1:12). The goal is to seek God, not to push your body beyond what is wise. We pray for discernment for you in this, that you would know how to honor God with your body while still pressing into His presence.

Your desire to join the military is a significant one, and we lift that up before the Lord as well. It’s natural to feel anxiety about the unknown, but we are reminded in Philippians 4:6-7, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." We pray that God would calm your fears and give you clarity about your next steps. The military is a noble calling, and if God is leading you there, He will equip you for every challenge. However, we also encourage you to seek wise counsel from trusted believers, pastors, or mentors who can help you discern God’s will for this season of your life. Proverbs 11:14 says, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety."

We also want to gently address the thoughts of grandeur you mentioned regarding the Army Rangers. It’s wonderful to have goals and aspirations, but we must always check our hearts against pride. Proverbs 16:18 warns, "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall." Instead of focusing on what you *think* you can or cannot do, we encourage you to surrender those dreams to the Lord and ask Him to align your desires with His will. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." Trust that God has a plan for you, and He will guide you into it step by step.

As for your preparation for the ASVAB and studying the driver’s manual, we encourage you to approach these tasks with diligence and trust in God’s provision. Colossians 3:23 says, "And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men." Whether you are studying for a test or training for the military, do it as unto the Lord, and He will bless your efforts.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother who is pressing through this 40-day fast. Lord, You see his heart, his hunger for You, and his desire to draw closer to Your presence. We ask that You would sustain him physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Strengthen him where he is weak, and fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Father, we pray for his mother, that You would soften her heart and help her to understand the spiritual significance of this fast. Give our brother wisdom in how to communicate with her and grace to respond with love.

Lord, we also lift up his desire to join the military. We ask that You would give him clarity and peace about this decision. If it is Your will for him to serve, we pray that You would open the right doors, provide the necessary medical clearance, and equip him for the challenges ahead. Calm his anxieties, Father, and remind him that You are his strength and his shield. Help him to trust in You with every step, knowing that You go before him.

We also ask that You would guard his heart against pride or delusions of grandeur. Align his desires with Your will, and help him to surrender his plans to You. Give him humility and wisdom as he prepares for the ASVAB and any other steps he needs to take. Lord, we trust that You have a hope and a future for him, and we ask that You would lead him into it.

Finally, Father, we rebuke any spirit of fear, doubt, or discouragement that may be trying to creep into his heart. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, and remind him that he can do all things through Christ who strengthens him (Philippians 4:13). Thank You for Your faithfulness, Lord. We trust You to complete the good work You have begun in him. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to keep pressing into the Lord during this fast. Seek Him not just for the completion of the 40 days, but for the transformation that comes from time spent in His presence. Let this fast be a time of drawing near to Him, and trust that He will draw near to you (James 4:8). You are not alone in this journey—God is with you, and we stand with you in prayer. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2).

Hey there,

We're right here with you, cheering you on as you press through these last days of your fast. We're inspired by your commitment and we're here to support you, just like we're told to in Galatians 6:2, "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."

First off, we want to echo the prayer for your mom. We hope she can understand the spiritual significance of your fast and that she'll find peace knowing you're seeking God's will. Maybe you could share with her how you feel God is working in your life during this time?

As for your health, we're praying for wisdom for you. Remember, God wants us to take care of our bodies, as they're His temple (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). It's okay to adjust your fast if you need to, to make sure you're not harming yourself. We believe God will honor your commitment to Him, even if that means making adjustments for your physical well-being.

We're also lifting up your desire to join the military. It's natural to feel anxious about the unknown, but we're reminded in Philippians 4:6-7 to take our anxieties to God in prayer. We trust that He will give you clarity and peace about your next steps. And hey, if you ever need someone to talk to or pray with about this, we're here for you!

Lastly, we want to encourage you to keep seeking God's face during this fast. It's not just about completing the 40 days, but about the transformation that comes from spending time with Him. He promises to draw near to us when we draw near to Him (James 4:8). So keep pressing in, and trust that He's with you every step of the way.

We're praying for you, brother. You're not alone in this. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). You got this!

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We want to thank you for trusting us with your prayer request and allowing us to stand in agreement with you during this significant time of fasting and seeking the Lord. It is a privilege to lift you up as you press toward the completion of your 40-day fast, and we are praying that God strengthens you both spiritually and physically as you draw nearer to Him.

We are especially lifting up your concerns about your mother’s statements and the tension you’re feeling. May the Lord grant you peace in your heart and wisdom in how to respond, and may He soften her heart to understand the sincerity of your commitment to this spiritual discipline. We also pray for protection over your health as you fast—may the Lord sustain you and reveal His provision in ways that bring glory to His name.

As you prepare for the possibility of joining the military, we pray for clarity, favor, and complete healing so that your doctor may release you from all medications. May the Lord guide your steps as you study for the ASVAB and train for service, and may He calm your anxiety about the unknown. We ask Him to give you a clear sense of His calling—whether it is toward the military or another path He has for you. If it is His will for you to serve, we pray He would open doors for you to do so in a way that honors Him and provides for your family. And if your heart’s desire is to serve in a capacity like the Army Rangers, we ask that He either grant you the strength and preparation to pursue it or redirect your steps to the place He has prepared for you.

Most of all, we pray that through this fast and every step that follows, you would experience the nearness of Jesus in a deeper way. May He quiet your fears, renew your mind, and fill you with His peace that surpasses all understanding. If your request has been answered in any way—whether through physical strength, emotional peace, or a fresh sense of direction—we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If you’re still waiting, we encourage you to post this request again so we can continue to stand with you in prayer.

May God bless you abundantly as you seek Him with your whole heart. We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
