Prophets/Lay people Knowledge is book smarts, understanding is street smarts, and wisdom is the application of both. What is the significance of the differentiation? We see it in Isaiah 11:1-3: "A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him--the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD--and he will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or...
With greater trust comes greater obedience, that much is well known, but with more difficulty to we accept that with greater obedience comes greater trust. Why? Because the former places responsibility on the object of the trust, but the later places responsibility on us. Not to be redundant, but we know that if they build off each other than they are related in such a way that makes them examples of circular reasoning. In other words, they are on opposite sides of an equation; as with in algebra, if one builds on one side, then the other side is built also. But where do trust and obedience come from? They come from God's drawing us to Him and our response to that drawing. John 12:32 "And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw...
My faith is so limited sometimes. I fail to see the Lord is working in a situation. Many times in my life I have been consumed with my situation, my troubles and forget that there are hurting people around me. I was listening to a teacher on the radio today and he was talking about bitterness. I was very convicted by the message. I prayed that the Lord would help me change and then the Lord switched my thoughts to my father. My father is bitter? I never thought of him that way before. My father is a very harsh and proud man. He is not a christian. I have generally thought of him as, just mean. As I listened to the radio teacher....he said bitter people have usually been hurt. My father was hurt...., wow I just never realized that. I...
I started reading the book of Exodus last night and I thought I would start this survey: Of the ten plagues God sent on the Egyptians, if you had to endure one of them, which one would it be? 1. Water turns to blood 2. Frogs 3. Gnats 4. Flies 5. Livestock dies (to make it more modern, your pets will die) 6. Boils 7. Hail 8. Locusts 9. Darkness 10. The firstborn in your family dies
John 15:8-11 "This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!" Do you believe it? Perhaps this is a passage to meditate on? It's a shared joy between the two of you. God and you. Yay! Psalms Chapter 1 "Blessed/Happy is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly Nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful: But his delight is in the law of Yahweh, And His law he...

This is inspired by 1 Corinthians 9:24 "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? Therefore run in such a way as to receive the prize." By God! It's okay, feel free to be motivated by heavenly hope for gold, or whatever your heart's desire might be for richness in heaven. Imagine it, grasp hold of it, have passion over the gifts of God, and you will end up loving God more for it, BUILD your treasure in HEAVEN! And you'll have greater passion in your faith and much more perseverance. No guilt involved! I think of the example with kids, but it applies to anyone with an altered state of entitlement. The government is teaching the psychologists to teach the school system to teach the parents and...
God, who else? Trusting God is the step that leads to all other healthy trusting. The trust of God comes from God Himself to you in a spirit of a good giving heart. Why do I say the trust of God comes from Him, isn't it earned like with everyone else? Well yes and no. Hebrews 11:6 "It is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." John 12:32 "And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself."The trust of God comes from God Himself drawing you to Himself and your predestined action to accept that beckoning love from the Almighty Father." There seems to be a locked circle of logic with this. The trust of God...

I was planning on posting on fasting over the last few days, and today, I was amused and delighted to see that God placed a demand on the subject. Alright, well, there are right and wrong ways to fast spiritually speaking. I bring up prayer first, because to fast is to pray; and without prayer, a fast is vain and sinful, as would be a life without prayer. Prayer is not like talking to just anyone, we're speaking about talking to the very being who brought all life into existence, who sustains the very fabric of reality!!! Colossians 1:17 "He [that is Christ] is before all things, and in him all things hold together." 1 Thessalonians 5:17-19 "Pray continually, and be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who...
