Three Thanksgivings I wash my hands in innocence, and go about your altar, LORD, proclaiming aloud your praise and telling of all your wonderful deeds. Psalm 26:6-7 I felt led by the Lord to share with you about three consecutive Thanksgivings in my life. Let's call them holidays A, B, and C. Thanksgiving A was about five months after our final separation. I was living in a motel. No, not an efficiency, but the least expensive place I could locate. It wasn't much. When I left home, I envisioned living happily ever after with a co-worker. She had gone north to be with her family for Thanksgiving. My holiday meal that day was a TV dinner, eaten alone on a folding card table in my room. That year I had called ### and asked if I could...
I was thinking today to see if I can find my poetry online today, discovered a few main themes in all, peace, love, and God. I wrote them all 21 years or younger I believe. I know what I want, are my feelings too strong? or the feeling you place in my heart, are they all wrong? I don't want to wait any longer, I want my life to be better, my heart to grow stronger. I want someone who is true, and I can adore I will only then submit myself to him, then I will be faithful to him forevermore. Who is this person? you know of his name, do we live in different states? or do we live in the same? did we ever go to the same store, have I ever seen, or met him before? How does he smile? what is his laugh? is he a...
WITH THANKSGIVING Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 What is the state of your heart this Monday before Thanksgiving? Is it a heart that is rejoicing because the Lord has completed the good work He began? Is it a heart that is thankful for the glimpses of God’s work on the other side of your mountain? Is it a heart that is at peace because of the Lord’s blessed hand of protection and providence in your life? I hope and pray that it is all of these and more. Holidays are tough for standers. No doubt about that. Whose...
Lord, I've enjoyed this time of prayer, but as I walk out into the world, lead me not into temptation. Don't allow me to walk into the devil's trap. I know the enemy is setting a trap out there. I don't know what form it is going to take, and I know I am still weak in certain areas. Given the right circumstances, I will yield to temptation. Protect me, Lord. When you see me turning the corner where the trap has been set, cause me to turn the other way. Intervene, O Lord. Don't let me move in only my own strength and ability. Deliver me from the evil one. Here's good and powerful prayer to commit yourself to LORD. This prayer is meant for those who want to commit suicide, but I got some warm feeling when I prayed this even tough I did not have plans for suicide when I prayed it. Let me know in comments, what You think of it and in what cases would You pray it? Prayer to God Father, in the name of Jesus, I come before You, confessing my need for You, and crying out to you from the bottom of my heart. Lord, You’ve said that you are near to those whose hearts are breaking and that you give grace to the humble. I humble myself before you now… I cast down any pride or self-justification that I would hide behind, and I present myself to you as I truly am—weak and helpless and despairing of...
Serenity is not freedom from the storm...but peace amid the storm... A true spiritual well being...one can know of peace of mind, body an soul... This tranquil place is elusive to many...for it is said...the Holy Spirit within one's self... there one can find serenity...by the grace of God...the Holy Spirit...may it come unto all... Within one's conscience...the Holy Spirit is found...this too is elusive to many... The world cannot give this...unto one's own self to know of the Holy Spirit within... God conscience...and the Holy Spirit shall come unto...this is known to be... I am you...you are I...
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then...
COME HOME! Lord, send my prodigal home! Is that your cry today? This is your Lord’s cry also. He wants more than anything for ALL His children to repent and live righteously. Thanksgiving is almost here and many of you are already dreading the Holidays. May I challenge you to seek the Lord for a new, deeper walk with Him. Your marriage problems, separation or divorce is a wake-up call for you. Your Lord is wanting you to listen to Him. He wants you to humble yourself before Him, seeking His face, and His plan for your future. God hates divorce. He wants you to surrender your life to Him, so that He may rebuild, restore and reconcile each and every marriage. That is God’s perfect plan. He wants you to build an ark for your family as...
"Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn't she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.' In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents." (Luke 15:8–10 NIV) Let's pray: Lord Jesus, You are my Lord and Savior. I stop running away from You right where I am. Dear Lord, I willingly climb into Your arms. Please accept this box of things I am carrying — those emotions, mistakes, choices I wish I'd never made — take it away from me and return these where they rightfully belong as You lead me back home...
LIVE A LIFE OF HOLINESS Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship. Romans 12:1 How are you living? As a Christian, you must live differently! People around you must be able to see and know by your words, your actions, and your attitudes that you are choosing to be different than the world’s ways. The Word of God teaches you so strongly how you should live. You need to strive for righteousness and holiness living. Righteousness will produce a life of transformation. If you are losing control of your speech, actions or words, may you realize that the Lord wants you to grow more in Him, becoming more Christ-like every...
