A QUICK START GUIDE TO STANDING - Part 1 "Who is wise? He will realize these things. Who is discerning? He will understand them. The ways of the LORD are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them." Hosea 14:9 If you have ever unpacked a new printer or some other computer accessory, underneath the Styrofoam packing, you probably discovered a thick operating manual. My first thought each time I open something new is that I will never master everything in the manual. Dig a bit deeper into the box and you will probably find a quick start guide, with just enough information to get you started using your new device. It is not intended to answer all the questions, but only to get you going in the right direction. I...
In Search of God’s Love When I was growing up I had 2 wonderful parents; they love me and my brothers and sister and we knew it. They would discipline us from time to time and even let me and my hard head find out the right things to do the hard way; by trial and error; by experience. Even though I did not like being punished, I still knew that my parents loved me. I never separated the discipline with their love for me. I just knew that they did. Why is it so different with God? Why is it so hard for us to just take God at His Word and His sacrifice and believe in His abounding, never-ending, unselfish love for us? With our parents we know they love us even in times of discipline, yet with God we cannot seem to grasp that the...
FORGIVE AND LOVE - JUST LIKE GOD As parents, we love our children unconditionally. They may do wrong things, small or at times big, but we continue to love them. Some children lie, others steal and some have behavioral problems. We hurt, as parents, to see our own children commit sin. Some of us may have more serious issues like unwanted pregnancy, teenage attitude problems, addictions to alcohol, drugs, pornography, etc. But we do not hold a grudge against them. Then why against our spouses? We forgive our children instantly, then why not our spouses? We do everything possible to free our children and solve their problems so they continue to lead a good life. We are hurt when we first find out about this. But we do not break our...
Hello every one I am hoping and praying this new year has been good for all of you. I am not sure what is going on on the other side of the mountain but it must be good because I have been being attacked like never before. I wont lie but doubt has been creeping in my mind daily and I have to keep reminding myself of God's promise. Not only has He promised us eternal life if we follow Him, but us as standers He has promised restoration of our marriage if we trust Him. I found myself several times crying out to God asking Him where He is, why is it getting worse, why are these things happening and so on. I am sure we have all been there before. I then pray to Him asking God do you still want me to stand for my marriage? Is it even...
LORD, DIRECT MY HEART & FOOTSTEPS! Blessed are they whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD. Blessed are they who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart. They do nothing wrong; they walk in his ways. Psalm 119:1-3 Are you discouraged or defeated because of your marriage problems or are you walking in faith regardless of the circumstances? Does your heart feel like it is breaking in two right now? Do you know how to get relief from your pain, or your anxiety and fear of the unknown future regarding your marriage? Ask your Lord to heal your broken, wounded, rejected heart, right now. He can become your great Physician, greatest Counselor and closest Friend. The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on...
BELIEVE AND OBEY GOD Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight and was full of violence. God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. So God said to Noah, "I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out." Genesis 6:11-14 Have you read in Genesis about Noah and the ark recently? A few years ago there was a family movie with a modern version of Noah's Ark, called "Evan Almighty." Noah's story has a powerful lesson for you and the world to learn. I must share with you that more than 20 years ago...
WILL YOU SEEK HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS? "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Matthew 6:33 What a beginning for 2014 with snowy weather in so many states! I pray that you are home safe from any holiday traveling and have started a new year with the Lord, your family and back at work. May I ask you a personal question this new year? Where are you spiritually compared to last year? Are you closer to the Lord or are you drifting away because of your own emotions and feelings of despair or hopelessness? Are you thinking, “I don't have time to read the Bible and pray? You don't understand my schedule! Look at all that I must do!" Are these some of your thoughts today? I pray that...
"DID YOU REALLY WANT CHARLYNE TO FIND SOMEONE ELSE AFTER YOUR DIVORCE?" No, I did not. I have never talked with a prodigal who seriously desired that their one-flesh mate find and become involved with someone else. They may exist, but I have never encountered a prodigal whose heart-felt desire was that someone else take their place. I do know, however, scores of prodigals who went haywire when their abandoned spouse began to date. Why then, do we prodigals carry on about our abandoned mates finding someone else and getting on with life, when we do not really mean it? To alleviate our own guilt. We attempt to justify that if our spouse was involved with someone, we would not appear as guilty to family, to friends, and even to God. The...
The Eyes Have It They went right into the house where he was staying, and Jesus asked them, “Do you believe I can make you see?†“Yes, Lord,†they told him, “we do.†Then he touched their eyes and said, “Because of your faith, it will happen.†Matthew 9:28-29 (NLT) In the Bible, our eyes are utilized as a representation of a person’s ability to obtain the light of God. They are symbols of our mental understanding and spiritual character. As believers we receive His grace, which is compared to the opening of eyes so we may see what He is doing. Our God is a God of order. Nothing He does is by chance. For instance, it is not an accident that at the hub of the solar system is the Sun, providing light. Life is driven by...
Have you ever been in a place in your life or maybe you are there right now, where you have felt overwhelming despair. How long has it been since you have felt healing love, if ever? A love so great, it heals all that is broken within you, heart and soul. Do you see yourself as a broken vessel, worthless and no hope? Are you brokenhearted, have you been down a path that you wish you had not taken? You have messed up royally along the way and hurt many people or maybe even destroyed some lives. Maybe you have lost loved ones and you are feeling all alone. You are also probably wondering about me and what I could possibly know about any of the situations mentioned above. Well I know a lot; life experience has taught me a lot about not...
