(Genesis 43: 22-23) “We have also brought down other money in our hand to buy food; we do not know who put our money in our sacks." He said, "Be at ease, do not be afraid. Your God and the God of your father has given you treasure in your sacks; I had your money." Learn to praise God in the storm and ask Him to open your eyes to the hidden treasure in your trial. The story of Joseph and his brothers is a wonderful story and an example of God’s unconditional love and forgiveness in face of bitterness and resentment. Joseph endured much heartache in being rejected by his brothers who were full of jealousy. They wanted to kill him; they threw him in a pit and sold him into slavery. He was accused wrongly and thrown into prison...
(I Samuel 23:16) “And Saul’s son, Jonathan went to help David at Horesh and helped him find strength in God.†David was being chased by Saul and his men and he left Keilah and traveled from place to place. He came to the Desert of Ziph and made camp at Horesh. He had been going from place to place with the enemy on his tail. He had a promise but at that time I am sure he felt tired both physically and emotionally. Have you ever been there? You have had a promise from the Lord but trials overwhelm you and you long for rest; rest from the burdens that you carry and slap you in the face on daily basis. You just need rest and sometimes you just feel like crawling up in a corner and crying. I am sure David felt this way. Satan...
Here is today's installment of Charlyne's devotional. Enjoy! SChorus: Come home, Come home. Ye who are weary, come home, Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling, Calling, O sinner, come home! Written by William L. Thompson Public Domain; CCLI #1273562 Do you believe in miracles? I do. I hear of miracles all the time. In Utah last weekend, an 18-month old baby girl was found alive in a freezing river, 14 hours after her mother died in the car accident. The praise is a fisherman found the car in the morning. When your marriage is restored, you will believe in miracles. Will you start believing that your Lord Jesus is talking to your husband or wife telling them to turn their heart to the Lord and run from their wrong sinful ways and...
This one sure needs to be said! Hallelujah! I'm back and still standing...for God's glory! Scroggymommy5 ARE YOU MARRIED FOR LIFE? The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.†…But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.†For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united...
I remember the day my baby girl was born. What a feeling I had when I held her in my arms the first time. I felt immediate love and attachment for this helpless little package God had given me. She needed constant care which I was glad to give. As she grew I remember coming home from work exhausted but longing to see my little girl. It seemed to make me forget all other problems. When I saw her she would crawl up in my lap and put her little head on my shoulder and fall asleep, it gave me such a feeling of joy. As she got a little older, I would come home and she literally would jump into my arms and hug me and tell me I love you daddy and squeeze me so hard and kiss my cheek. There was no feeling could compare to that. She wanted to...
For woe be it, for they have memorized or read all the 'letters'...but yet cannot pass on life or spiritual growth to you. For of only 'words' heard, as spoken of the Holy Spirit, shall give life. For when the Divine Spirit communicates to a man, there is access to every experience, every sight and sound, every word, thought, and every feeling that man has had in their life...for also of the Spirit is aware of man's language, dialect, and understanding of vocabulary. The Spirit speaks to man in precisely understandable language with inflections of love, kindness, and firmness are but a few. For it is not to be mistaken between reading the letters', however wonderful they are...and 'hearing' the infinite wisdom of God expressed of a...
Bless the Lord, for He is wise and He is just. He wants the absolute best for us. Some times the things we desire are His will for us, but not in the way that we want them. Those desires that consume us, that fill our mind and hearts night and day, taking His place, have become an idol. The Lord wants to bless us lavishly, but He doesn't want us to be destroyed. The blessing will destroy us if we want it so badly that we allow it to become an idol, and therefore sin, because sin leads to death. Yet, the anguish, the missing, the tearing heart, the mourning, the tears, the lack of sleep, the lack of eating all has its purpose. The beautiful prayers of travail, the deep depths of pain from inner longing can become fervent prevailing...
Where is your faith? Luke 8:25 25And He said to them, "Where is your faith?" They were fearful and amazed, saying to one another, "Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?" This passage of scripture occurred during a storm at sea. Jesus had said to His disciples,"Let's cross to the other side of the lake". During the crossing a storm came up. Jesus was asleep in the boat while His disciples were frantic with fear of drowning if the boat capsized. They "woke"Jesus up telling Him they were going to drown. Jesus awoke, rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly the wind and waves calmed. Jesus then looked at His disciples and asked them "where is your faith?" He did not admonish them for little...
"Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place, and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting."—Matthew 17:19-21. The disciples could not cast out the demon and Jesus told them it was because of "their unbelief". He did not say they had no faith or a weak faith. The apostles had previously been casting out demons. Luke 10:17-18 17The seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name." 18And He said to...
