Bible Verse for Today

Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the LORD.

—Leviticus 19:32 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

In an age where respect is little known and even less practiced, showing honor for those who are older is often overlooked. Yet in this scripture, by the LORD's own word, showing respect for the elderly ranks right up there with reverencing God. But then we shouldn't be surprised since God made honoring parents the...

Who will render to every man according to his deeds: To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

—Romans 2:6-7 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

God not only seeks after us, but he also desires a relationship with us — he longs for us to seek after him and after matters that are important to him. When we persistently seek his glory by doing good deeds and seek eternal values rather than temporal things, he is...

And ### said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD today.

—1 Kings 22:5 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

This verse is from the wonderful story of Micaiah and his bravery as God's prophet. ### knew not to trust the counsel of the false prophets from the northern kingdom of Israel. He was adamant that before he involved God's people of Judah in a battle with anyone, his people needed first to seek the counsel of the LORD! This should also be...

Blessed be thy glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.

—Nehemiah 9:5 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

God loves to hear our praises and songs of adoration. He longs to hear us call him Abba, Father and King of the Ages. But better than all the praise we can muster and higher than the highest sounds of angels is something higher still: the very name of God, YHWH, I AM, the LORD of heaven and earth, and God of the covenants (Exodus 3:13-15). Let's commit...

Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.

—Psalm 10:14 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

God abhors those who take advantage of powerless people, who are going through a series of difficulties, or who are in compromising situations. Those who exploit the needy, weak, poor, or disadvantaged must know that God sees their actions and will hold them...

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

—Hebrews 12:2 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Who is your hero? I'm not asking for the Sunday school class answer; I want you to look inside. Who is the person you most actively admire? Is it Jesus? Let's admit that it is hard to "fix our eyes on Jesus" because he is not here...

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

—Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Our relationship with God is built on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus and our acceptance of that sacrifice through obedient faith (Romans 1:5, 10:9-13, 16:26; Colossians 2:12-15). Such faith trusts that God not only exists but also personally cares about us and our desire...

Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.

—Leviticus 19:31 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Our world has a re-emergent fascination with the occult, the world of demons, and the dark practices of witchcraft. Many in today's world are caught in these demonic practices. Unfortunately, some believers in Christ react in two dangerous ways:

1. Downplay the reality of these things and the twisted...

Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.

—1 Corinthians 10:24 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Isn't it amazing how the more we try to fix things for ourselves — the more we focus on "looking out for number 1" — and the more we find ourselves isolated from meaningful relationships that make life worth living? "If you want to have a friend, then be a friend," the saying goes. You know what? That saying is correct! Anyone can seek only what is in their best...

And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.

—1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

What's your ambition? I don't know about you, but I'm not so sure I could say my ambition is to "live a quiet life..." (I'm a bit of a loud person, sometimes.) When I hear the apostle Paul's reason for that...
