Bible Verse for Today

And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.

—Zechariah 14:9 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Jesus taught us:

"So then, this is how you should pray:
‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven'" (Matthew 6:9-10 BSB).

As we pray, our hearts should yearn for the day when the LORD will be the universally recognized King over all the earth...

The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

—Psalm 138:8 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

God has a purpose and plan for each of our lives, something unique he purposed for each of us as he created each of us in the womb of our mother (Psalm 139:13-16). We need to discover that purpose and live it out as our life's mission. As long as we seek the LORD's will, we can't do anything that...

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

—2 Peter 3:8-9 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Maranatha - O LORD come (1 Corinthians 16:22). This cry of the early church, especially during trials, persecutions, and difficulties, must be tempered with the reminder that there is a lost world around us. We want the LORD to come...

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

—Matthew 16:25 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

The key to life is letting go of ourselves and welcoming Jesus and his will into our lives. Please don't forget to relinquish your life to the one who gave up his own life for you. You see, he took it back up again, just so that when we lose our lives to him, we can have them back forever with him. Listen to this glorious...

Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

—Leviticus 19:18 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Hanging on to bitterness and keeping alive grudges is consuming and exhausting work. It leaves little energy for blessing others, praising God, or enjoying life. The only way to overcome a bitter heart toward others is to actively love and serve them in ways that bless their lives, as we...

Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.

—Jeremiah 23:24 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

There is no hiding from God, but for those who willingly and joyously seek him, there is great comfort, power, and hope in knowing that his presence is ever with us. He promises never to leave or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5-6). David beautifully praises God for his abiding presence in Psalm...

But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.

—2 Thessalonians 3:3 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

It's amazing to me how Satan knows our personal weaknesses and vulnerabilities - those sins that can especially wound and disable us from the work Christ Jesus. It's amazing to me how knows how best to tempt us. We know, dear Father, that we need to commit our hearts and ask you to protect us, your families, and one another. We're going to commit to...

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

—Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

It is easy for us to live victoriously for the LORD when we are soaring on the wings of eagles. Things are going great. We can see the LORD at work in our life and good things are happening. It can be exciting when we run and don't grow weary doing the work...

The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

—Psalm 121:7-8 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

One of the great blessings and confidences we have in Jesus is that we do not live out our lives on our own, alone, unnoticed, and forgotten. The LORD of the universe is with us personally (Psalm 139:1-18). He holds our future and our safety in his...

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

—Psalm 91:1 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

We are blessed to be as close to God as his shadow and to share in the comfort of his sheltering presence. He is not far from our hearts as we choose to draw near him. Sounding very much like the beatitudes of Jesus, Isaiah shares God's promise with us:

For this is what the high and exalted One says - he who lives forever, whose...
