Bible Verse for Today

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

—Philippians 1:6 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

God finished his work of creating our world in six days. The LORD continues to sustain it with his powerful word (Hebrews 1:3). He is still working on us, in us, and through us. He will continue to work his will in us till we fully share in his glory (Philippians 2:12-13) and Christ comes...

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

—Ephesians 3:20-21 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Of all the names for God in the Bible, my favorite is "Him Who-is-Able"! Our God can "do do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine"! Our God is the same God who parted the Red Sea and fed 5,000...

I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

—Psalm 138:2 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

For Christians, God's temple is one of two related things: either the Christian's physical body (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) or the group of people who make up his Church gathered together (1 Corinthians 3:16; 1 Peter 2:4-5). Because of the flaws in the people who...

As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

—Psalm 18:30 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

God is a shield whose Word can be trusted, and his way for us is perfect. His way is not only flawless but also life-giving. However, we must choose to take refuge in him so his flawless word and his perfect way can bless us, as his presence is our shield of protection. Our allegiance, reliance, and dependence must be...

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

—Matthew 24:35 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

What do we have that will last forever? Not much - our love for God and his children, the praise we offer him in worship, and the Word he has spoken to us through the Holy Spirit and his Son, Jesus. Let's invest ourselves - our prayers, efforts, and passions - in these eternal things, the things that last. Then, we will never be without lasting truth, blessing...

And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.

—Isaiah 12:4 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

It is wrong to think God's love for the nations began only with Jesus and his Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). God sent the reluctant Jonah to save Israel's great enemy, Nineveh, by calling them to repentance. Remember the precious story of Ruth, a foreigner, a Moabite woman...

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

—Psalm 33:12 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Each of us needs to ask ourselves: "Who or what is the god of our culture and nation?" Certainly, our God is the LORD, the King of Israel and Redeemer of the lost. He is the King of all nations, yet he is not always valued as God in our nations. In the hearts of all people, we are far from "one nation under God," but God is...

Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

—Proverbs 14:34 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Wow, what an indictment, so please bear with me as we think through this and open our hearts to God.
When we vote our pocketbook more than character, and when we excuse the indiscretions, infidelities, and illegalities in the leaders of any political party, we have reached a very sad state indeed! When we ignore the anti-biblical stands politicians and...

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

—Jeremiah 17:9-10 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Jesus told us that what is in our hearts ultimately works its way out into our public lives (Luke 6:43-45). The wise man of Proverbs told us to guard our hearts because the heart is the wellspring of our...

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

—Romans 12:3 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

The wisdom of heaven reminds us:

Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall (Proverbs 16:18).

Knowing this, we must try to balance two truths: I must not be prideful, but I must...
