Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for me. I have stage 4 bladder cancer that has metastasized and moved into my legs and my lymphatic system. I have extreme swelling and pain in my lower extremity.

We are deeply moved by your request and stand with you in prayer, lifting you up before our Heavenly Father. Your suffering is not unnoticed by God, and we know He hears the cries of His children. The pain and swelling you are enduring must be overwhelming, but we trust that the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).

First, we want to acknowledge that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God and can come boldly before His throne of grace in times of need (Hebrews 4:16). If you have not already, we encourage you to place your faith in Jesus, who is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). He alone can offer you the peace that surpasses all understanding, even in the midst of this trial. If you have already surrendered your life to Him, we rejoice with you and pray that His presence would be even more real to you in this season.

Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this dear brother who is battling stage 4 bladder cancer. Lord, You are the Great Physician, the One who heals all our diseases (Psalm 103:3). We ask that You would stretch out Your healing hand upon him. Touch his body, Lord, and bring restoration where there is brokenness. Ease the swelling and pain in his legs, and strengthen his lymphatic system. We declare that by Your stripes, he is healed (Isaiah 53:5), and we stand on Your promises of wholeness and life.

We also pray for his emotional and spiritual well-being, Father. Cancer can bring fear, anxiety, and even doubt, but we ask that You would fill him with Your perfect peace that guards his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Remind him daily of Your unfailing love and the hope he has in You. Surround him with Your presence, Lord, and let him feel Your arms of comfort holding him tightly.

We pray for his family as well, Father. Being a father of nine is a tremendous blessing and responsibility, and we ask that You would give him the strength and grace to continue leading his children with wisdom and love. Provide for every need, physical, emotional, and spiritual, as they walk through this valley together. Let them see Your faithfulness in tangible ways, and may their faith grow stronger as they lean on You.

Lord, we also ask for wisdom for his medical team. Guide their hands and minds as they treat him, and give them insight into the best course of action. We trust that You are in control, even over the details of his care.

We rebuke the spirit of fear and despair that may try to take hold of him, in the name of Jesus. We declare that he is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves him (Romans 8:37), and that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We speak life over his body and declare that every cancerous cell must bow to the name of Jesus and leave his body now.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would use this trial for Your glory. Whether You choose to heal him miraculously or walk with him through this journey, may Your name be exalted. Let his testimony be a light to others, pointing them to Your goodness and faithfulness.

We love you, brother, and we are standing with you in faith. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). He is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit, you may abound in hope (Romans 15:13). We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

We hear you, and we are so sorry you're facing this. The pain and swelling you're describing sound exhausting and relentless, and carrying that while also navigating stage 4 cancer is an immense weight. We're grateful you reached out to let us stand with you in this.

One of the things that stands out in what you've shared is how the physical pain has its own way of wearing down the spirit. When your body is under such constant assault, it can be hard to think clearly or hold onto hope. You are not weak for feeling overwhelmed, you are human. We've walked with many people through serious illness, and one thing we've seen help is to not try to carry the practical burdens alone right now. Is there someone in your life, a family member, a friend from church, who could help coordinate some of the daily load so you can conserve your strength for what matters most? Sometimes people want to help but don't know what to offer until we give them something specific, like organizing meal drop-offs or handling appointment logistics.

We also want to gently encourage you to keep your medical team closely informed about the extreme swelling and pain you're experiencing. They need to know what you're going through so they can help manage your comfort as effectively as possible. You don't have to tough this out alone.

Lord Jesus, You see this man and You know every place in his body where pain and disease have taken hold. We ask You to draw near to him in the middle of this suffering, steady his heart when fear crowds in, and grant him moments of real relief and rest. Give his doctors wisdom and compassion, and surround him with people who will show up in practical, consistent ways. We ask for Your mercy over his body and for Your peace to guard his mind. In Your name we pray, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

How heavy the cross you bear! The Master has given you a bitter cup to drink, yet remember, the cup that the Father gives, shall we not drink it? You are a father of nine, and now you find yourself in deep waters, with pain and swelling in your limbs. But behold, the Everlasting Father, even our Lord Jesus Christ, is the Father of the fatherless and the husband of the widow. He has not left you comfortless; He comes to you in this furnace of affliction.

This trial is a sieve, sifting the chaff from the wheat, yet the least grain shall not fall to the ground. Your sickness shall not destroy you, but reveal the sincerity of your faith and the strength of His grace. He who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps; He watches over each member of His mystical body with a love that surpasses knowledge.

Cast yourself upon the righteous Father, who accepted you in the Beloved. All the love of God flows to you in Christ, as a hundred channels from the heart of the Eternal. He has translated you out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of His dear Son; that kingdom cannot be shaken, and your inheritance is sure. Though your outward man perishes, the inward man is renewed day by day.

Look to Jesus, who saw Matthew at the receipt of custom and called him. He sees you in your bed of pain, and His call is still, "Follow Me." Follow Him along the path of suffering, for He has trodden the winepress alone. The Father Himself loves you, and as a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him. He will be a better Father to your little ones than any earthly parent could be; trust them to His care.

Let the swelling legs and the failing flesh drive you to the fountain of living water. Out of your belly, by His Spirit, shall flow rivers of consolation. When the pain is fierce, whisper, "Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Thy sight." He is Lord of heaven and earth, and He does all things well.

I bow my knees with you unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, that He would strengthen you with might by His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your heart by faith, and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height, and to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge, that you might be filled with all the fullness of God. Amen.
