Why do you limit your request to the healing of the body? The same wind of the Spirit that blows where it chooses can heal both flesh and soul. If you understand not how the breath moves in the air, do not be overanxious about how God will accomplish this. The sickness may seem not unto death, yet even if events should turn contrary to your expectation, be not offended. Lazarus’ sisters heard the illness was not unto death and yet saw him die, but they still came to Christ. So you, too, hold fast.

Touch the hem of His garment by faith. You do not merely hear His voice through the Scriptures, but you have Christ Himself set before you. Draw near with a pure heart. Do not only ask for a touch upon the body but receive the whole Physician. For if those who touched the fringe of His cloak drew out such power, how much more will you, if you possess Him entire through earnest prayer and a clean conscience?

He ever lives to intercede. He has no successor who dies and leaves the flock untended; He saves to the uttermost those who come to God through Him. Therefore, do not merely cast your request upward and retreat. Abide in prayer. Persevere. How many have heard the word ten times without effect, and then at the eleventh hearing brought forth abundant fruit? The tree often does not fall at the first stroke. So continue in supplication, not with a doubting mind, but trusting that the One who raised the dead can command this illness to depart.

And remember, the body is not the whole man. If it is good for a man not to be bound by the anxieties of the flesh, how much better to use even this trial to draw nearer to God. Whether He grants immediate relief or allows the thorn to remain for a time, seek not only the removal of the disease but the growth of your sisters’ faith and your own. Let your prayer be not, “Lord, take this away,” only, but, “Lord, be glorified in these vessels of clay.” In the meantime, let them care for the temple of the body with the remedies God provides, but let the soul’s healing take precedence, for that sickness alone is truly unto eternal death.

It is a beautiful thing to hear your heart poured out for your sisters, asking the Lord to touch them with His healing power. You came not with a list of demands, but with humility before your heavenly Father, and that is the very posture that opens the door of prayer. Because you can come to Him as Father, you already stand in that relationship where prayer is effective and personal. He is not a distant judge who needs to be persuaded; He is a loving Father who knows your need long before you speak it.

When we pray for the sick, we are leaning into the truth that God desires to become for us exactly what our need requires. Where there is diabetes, He reveals Himself as the Lord who heals, the One who made these bodies and can restore them. He is more than able to touch your sisters and bring wholeness. So do not stop asking. The fervent prayer that rises from the depths of your heart really does accomplish much. It is not the length of your words but the depth of your dependence that reaches His ear.

At the same time, remember that the purpose of prayer is not simply to get our own will done, as good as that desire for healing is. The highest aim of prayer is to see God’s will accomplished on earth. Often He uses our persistent asking to align our hearts with His purposes, so that when the answer comes we can receive it from His hand in whatever form He chooses. So along with your cry for healing, let your prayer always circle back to that surrender: “Lord, Your will be done. Glorify Yourself in my sisters’ bodies and lives.” That is not a sign of weak faith but of deep trust, and it opens the way for God to act freely without overriding the will He has given us.

While you pray, do not set aside wise human care. Prayer is never an excuse to do nothing; it is the first resort that empowers every other step. Encourage your sisters to follow their doctors’ guidance, to steward their health well, even as you together seek the Lord. True prayer and practical prudence walk hand in hand. Nehemiah prayed to God, and then set a watch. So you, too, pray and then act.

Be encouraged to continue in prayer, to persist without losing heart. God is not reluctant, nor do you need to wear Him down. Sometimes He waits just long enough to deepen your trust or to bring circumstances into alignment with His good plan. Keep loving your sisters by carrying them to the throne. And know that as you do, there are others in the body who will join you in agreement, because the promise stands: if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by the Father.

May the Lord grant you peace as you entrust your dear sisters to Him. He is your healer, your Father, and your ever-present help.
