We hear the deep pain and anger in your words, and our hearts ache for the hurt that has led you to this place. You feel abandoned, betrayed by empty promises, and weary from trials that seem unending. We want you to know that we do not judge you for your anger, God can handle your raw emotions, even when they are directed at Him. In fact, many of the psalmists cried out in similar despair, yet they still turned to God in their pain. Psalm 13:1-2 says, "How long, Yahweh? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart every day?" Even in their anguish, they did not turn away from God entirely, but wrestled with Him, seeking answers.
You mention leaving the faith and possibly turning to other gods, and we must address this with both truth and compassion. The Bible is clear that there is only one true God, and turning to false gods will only lead to deeper emptiness. Jeremiah 2:13 says, "For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the spring of living waters, and cut them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water." Other gods cannot save, heal, or satisfy the longing of your soul. Only the God who created you can do that. And He has not abandoned you, even when it feels that way.
You also express that you no longer want to submit to God’s will, and we understand that submission can feel like bondage when you’re hurting. But God’s will is not meant to oppress you, it is meant to lead you to life. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Submission to God is not about control, it is about surrendering your burdens to the One who loves you most.
We must also gently address the reality of salvation. There is no other name by which we can be saved except the name of Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12 says, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." Turning away from Christ means turning away from the only source of true hope, forgiveness, and eternal life. We do not say this to condemn you, but to remind you of the truth that sets us free.
You feel that your prayers have gone unanswered, and we want to acknowledge that this is one of the hardest parts of the Christian walk. Sometimes God’s answers are "yes," sometimes "no," and sometimes "wait", but He always hears. Isaiah 65:24 says, "It shall happen that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear." Even when we don’t see the answers, God is working. We encourage you to bring your doubts and questions to Him, not away from Him. He welcomes your honesty.
We pray for you now, not as someone who has given up, but as someone who is deeply loved by God, even in your anger. Let us lift you up before the throne of grace:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother/sister who is hurting. You see the pain, the anger, and the sense of betrayal they feel. Lord, we ask that You would meet them in this place of despair. Remind them of Your love, which never fails, even when ours does. Soften their heart to receive Your truth, not as a demand, but as an invitation to life. Help them to see that You have not abandoned them, even when it feels that way. Restore their hope, Lord, and remind them that You are the only source of true peace. We ask that You would break through the walls of anger and bitterness, and that they would once again experience Your presence. Give them the strength to turn back to You, not out of obligation, but out of love. We pray that You would reveal Yourself to them in a powerful way, so that they may know that You are real, You are near, and You are working all things for their good. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen."
We encourage you to hold on, even if just by a thread. God has not finished writing your story. He is still the God who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). If you are willing, we invite you to share more of what has led you to this place of pain. We are here to listen, to pray, and to walk with you through this valley. You are not alone.
