We hear your deep concern for your son, and our hearts ache with you as we see the enemy attempting to steal the gifts and joy God has placed in his life. The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 5:8, "Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." The attacks on your son’s confidence, health, and performance are not coincidences, they are spiritual warfare. But we serve a God who is greater than any scheme of the enemy.

We rebuke every spirit of discouragement, bullying, and oppression trying to take root in your son’s life. The enemy wants to steal his joy, his gifts, and his faith, but we declare that no weapon formed against him will prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Your son’s identity is not in his performance, his teammates’ opinions, or even his grades, it is in Christ. Remind him that God sees his heart and his efforts, and He is pleased when we do all things as unto Him (Colossians 3:23).

We also want to gently encourage you to guard your son’s heart against bitterness or resentment toward his teammates. The Bible warns us in Hebrews 12:15 to "look carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled." Pray with him that God would give him the strength to respond with grace, even when others are unkind. This is an opportunity for him to grow in Christlike character, which is more valuable than any earthly success.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this precious young man to You. Lord, You have given him gifts and talents, and we declare that no plan of the enemy will succeed in stealing them. We rebuke every spirit of discouragement, bullying, and oppression that is trying to weigh him down. Strengthen his faith, Lord, and remind him that his worth is found in You alone. Help him to rise above the negativity and to shine for You, even in difficult circumstances.

Father, we ask that You would surround him with godly friends and mentors who will encourage him in his walk with You. Protect his heart from bitterness and fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Restore his joy, his health, and his confidence in You. Let him see that You are working all things together for his good (Romans 8:28).

We also pray for his teammates, Lord. Soften their hearts and open their eyes to see the value in treating others with kindness. If there is any unrepentant sin in their lives, convict them and draw them to You.

Thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your faithfulness and declare that Your plans for this young man are for good and not for harm, to give him a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Continue to stand firm in faith, knowing that God is for your son. Encourage him to spend time in prayer and in God’s Word, for it is there that he will find strength and direction. If he is feeling overwhelmed, remind him that even Jesus faced opposition and rejection, but He overcame the world (John 16:33). Your son is not alone, God is with him, and so are we. Keep pressing into the Lord, and trust that He will turn this trial into a testimony.

We can hear the ache in your words, it's painful to watch your son, who has always given his best and trusted God, start to feel discouraged and lose heart. When teammates refuse to pass, make cutting remarks, and he's struggling to find the net after being the top scorer, that hurts deeply, both for him and for you. It's natural to wonder if something more is at work, and we join you in praying for his protection and renewed spirit.

Right now, your son doesn't just need a fix on the field; he needs to know he is seen and loved completely outside of his performance. The pressure to be outstanding can quietly wear down even the most faithful young person. Sometimes God allows these dry, frustrating seasons not to steal a gift but to deepen identity in Him, to help a child know they are cherished even when the goals aren't coming and the grades dip a little. That's not a platitude; it's a truth that can take a lifetime to sink in, and you are in a position to help him hear it.

One concrete step might be to sit with him, not to analyze the soccer struggle or the school marks, but to ask gently: "What's been the hardest part for you lately?" Let him name the feelings. Then perhaps together, go to a trusted coach or a teacher to share what's happening, bullying on a team is something adults need to address, and he shouldn't carry that alone. For his health, since you mentioned it's been under attack, we'd encourage a visit to his doctor to make sure there's nothing physical adding to the stress. Prayer and practical care go hand in hand.

We're praying that God will shelter your son right now, not just from words or disappointments, but from the lie that his worth swings with every scoreboard or report card. We ask for genuine friends to rally around him, for a coach with eyes to see, and for a deep, quiet confidence to settle in his heart. In Jesus' name, amen.

It is a precious sign that your son has been taught to seek first the kingdom of God, for no soul that truly does so shall be overthrown by the adversary. That the devil rages against him is no wonder, he hates what God loves, and a young life dedicated to the Lord is a standing provocation to the powers of darkness. That your son’s gift on the field has become a target of scorn and that his studies and health are assaulted tells you plainly whose malice is at work. Yet be not dismayed, for God’s gifts are never given merely for the praise of men, and when they seem to be torn from us, it may be that the Lord is teaching us to hold them with a looser hand. The silver and the gold are His, and the breath in our lungs, and every talent of mind or body is lent that we might use it for His glory. When a gift becomes a snare to pride, it is a mercy if God hedges it about with thorns. “He has made a god of his goods and thus he has perverted God's gifts,” we say of the worldly man; but the child of God must learn that his worth lies not in the goals he scores or the marks he gains, but in Him who has called him by name. Your son’s worth is sealed in the unspeakable gift of Christ, and no failure on the pitch or in the classroom can diminish it.

Let the boy be reminded that the same hand that gives can also withhold for a season, and that God often permits such trials to deepen spiritual appetite. “The full soul tramples on a honeycomb,” but the hungry soul finds sweetness in the promises. Your son’s present discouragement may be the very furrow into which the Lord will drop the seed of a new and sturdier faith. Teach him to cry to God as he has never cried before, not for the restoration of his gifts alone, but for a nearer walk with Jesus, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and strength. “He who lays hold of Christ has grasped ‘very God of very God.’” Let that be his daily grasp. The bullying and the hard words are but the wind that blows the flame of grace into a brighter blaze, if he will but fly to the cleft of the Rock.

Pray on, and let your prayers be full of submission to that good and perfect will. “God’s delays are not denials.” He heard the Syrophoenician woman when it seemed He answered not a word, and He will hear you. The Lord may be stripping your son of certain props to make him lean wholly on Himself. When health falters and the cheers of teammates turn to sneers, the soul must look to the unseen Helper. And remember this: the young man whose spiritual life is given “more publicly” in the street of daily affliction often becomes a more effective witness than one who has known only ease. God knows how to bring His servant through the fire without the smell of it upon his garments.

Let your son give his heart anew to God each morning, not only his talent at sport, but his disappointments, his fears, his very weaknesses. “My son, give Me your heart,” is the call of a Father who is Love itself. When all else is uncertain, here is an anchor: God loves a cheerful giver, and a heart that surrenders even in the dark is a sweet-smelling sacrifice. I pray with you that the Lord will be gentle with the lad, as a father is gentle with a stumbling child. He will not break the bruised reed. May the Spirit of God quicken the boy’s hope, restore his strength, and make him yet to know that whether he scores many goals or none at all, he is precious in the sight of his heavenly Father. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You speak of the devil trying to steal your son's gift, but the real attack is more subtle and more dangerous. The devil assails most when he sees a soul left alone and isolated. You say the team mates are nasty and withhold the ball. This is indeed a trial, but mark what the Spirit teaches: we have the greatest need to be flocking together continually, that we may not be open to the devil's attacks. The enemy would drive your son into solitude of spirit, into discouragement, where he rages inwardly and loses shame, making his mind a sewer of resentment. That is the true theft, not the missing of goals.

You see his gift as scoring, but why build upon the sand of worldly success and the praise of men? That foundation is accessible to every earthquake and fire of envy. Let him build upon the rock. Whatsoever may happen, that building remains impregnable. Nothing will be able to destroy it. If his team mates mock him for not scoring, this is the very storm that proves the foundation. If he had scored and been praised, his house might have stood fair-weather but rotted within. Now he learns that his worth is not in their passing or their remarks.

You teach him to seek God's kingdom first, and you have done well, but now is the test of that teaching. The gift that seems to be failing is the very one God uses to teach him a far greater gift, one which is in the power of all to have. Do you think it greater to score goals or to drive away diseases? To raise the dead or to possess a spirit that remains meek under insult? I will show you a gift far greater than earthly skill, and all may have it: to suffer for Christ's sake and not faint. For to you it hath been granted not only to believe on Him but also to suffer in His behalf. Let your son see his present trial as this very grant.

The marks dropping, the health attacked, the season barren: these are not signs of the devil's victory but of the Spirit's training. An athlete is not crowned unless he strives lawfully. Let him not busy himself about the counsel of God as to why this happens, but whatsoever God hath given, let him guard it, though it seem small and the lowest, and he will be altogether approved. None of the gifts of God is small. Endurance is a greater gift than a season of goals.

Therefore, do not pray merely that the trials cease, but that your son, standing firm, may be useful to all and not shut up his gift in himself. Let him bind mercy and truth about his neck. If the team mates act wickedly, he has the better part if he does not return evil, showing himself a child of the compassionate One. This is true faith, not of rapine or fraud. They will know of what Teacher he is a disciple if he pities them in their malice and continues to give his best not for their approval but as service to God. This is the sacrifice and service of your faith, and when this takes place you may be glad, for the Lord is at hand.

I can hear the weight in your words, the ache of watching your son struggle, and the spiritual battle you sense behind it all. You are not wrong to see that the enemy would love to steal what God has planted in your boy. When a gift has been given, whether on the field or in the classroom, the thief comes to kill, steal, and destroy. He will use teammates’ cruelty, a dry season of scoring, slipping marks, and even physical attacks to discourage a young heart. But remember, the devil would like to step in and inflict damage, yet your son is not abandoned to him. You are the parent, and God is the Father, and He does not hand His children over to a stranger to do as they please. The Lord knows how to discipline and grow His own, and He will not let the enemy have the final word.

When everything feels as though it is falling apart, that is the time to look to the house you have been building in his life. You have taught him to seek God’s kingdom first, and that is not a small thing. That is faith mingled with the Word, brick by brick, constructing something that the huffing and puffing of the world cannot blow down. Right now the storm is beating against that house, but the foundation you helped lay, trust in God, a desire to give his best for the Lord, will hold. Your son’s identity was never in the goals he scored or the grades he earned. It is in Christ. That is where his strength will return.

Think for a moment of that mother in Scripture whose son lay lifeless. The prophet’s staff, sent ahead with a servant, did nothing. No voice, no stirring. It was only when the prophet himself came, stretched his own body over the boy’s, mouth to mouth and hands to hands, that warmth returned and life was restored. There is a kind of persistent, personal prayer that does not rely on religious form or secondhand effort. It gets right down on the floor of the situation, face to face with the need, and cries out to God. So pray like that for your son. Lay hold of the Lord for him, not with a formula of rebuking the devil, because the safest place is always to have Jesus between you and the enemy. Petition the One who gives breath, and He will answer.

Your son’s health, his joy, and his confidence will spring forth again. God is gentle, and He will not crush the bruised reed. The promises are sure: when you call, He will say, “Here I am.” As you wait for that, do not let your own heart sink into mourning over what has gone wrong. Rejoice for the work God is doing even now, that your boy trusts in Him, that he wants to give his best. That is the mark of a true gift, not the fickle approval of teammates. The very skills he has are from the Lord, and the Lord knows how to bring them back to life. Keep pouring the Word into him, keep showing him the face of Jesus, and watch for the warmth to return.
