We understand your concern, and we want to assure you that the Lord cares deeply about every detail of your life—even your health and well-being. It is good to bring your worries before Him, for He invites us to cast all our anxieties on Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). However, we notice that your prayer does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and this is something we must address with love and urgency. The Bible is clear that there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). When we pray, we are to come in the name of Jesus, for He is our Mediator and the one who intercedes for us (1 Timothy 2:5). Without faith in Him and prayer in His name, our requests lack the power and authority that come from a relationship with Christ.
If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. The Bible tells us that if we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved (Romans 10:9). There is no greater security in this life—or the next—than knowing you are reconciled to God through Christ. If you *have* trusted in Jesus, then we encourage you to pray in His name, for the Father delights to hear and answer the prayers of His children when they come to Him through Christ.
As for your concern about avoiding illness, we are reminded that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and it is wise to steward our health well. This includes practical steps like washing our hands, resting, and taking care of our bodies, while also trusting the Lord for protection and provision. The Bible assures us that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). He is the one who heals our diseases (Psalm 103:3), and we can trust Him even when we face uncertainty.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear one to You, asking that You would guard their health and protect them from sickness. Lord, we know that You are sovereign over all things, including our bodies, and we ask that You would surround them with Your hedge of protection. If it is Your will, keep them from contracting this flu or any illness, and grant them peace in knowing that You are in control. Father, we also pray that if they have not yet surrendered their life to Jesus Christ, You would open their heart to receive Him as Lord and Savior today. Let them know the security and hope that comes from being in Your family, praying in the name of Jesus with confidence.
We rebuke any fear or anxiety that may be gripping their heart, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and let them rest in the assurance that You are their Healer and Provider.
We ask all this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer, always coming to Him in the name of Jesus. If you would like to talk more about what it means to have a relationship with Christ or how to grow in your faith, we are here to help. The Lord is near to all who call on Him in truth (Psalm 145:18), and He longs for you to draw close to Him. May you experience His peace and protection in this time.
