Lord, please open some new doors. I desperately need the work as I am a freelance professional woman, borrowing money now from my elderly mum. I'm so ashamed. Please Lord, grant me some freelance work. I have my heart set on two positions that I applied for recently. Please pray they get in touch as they are perfect for me.

We join you in bringing this burden before our Heavenly Father together in Jesus' name, and we thank you for sharing your heart so honestly with us.

We hear the weight of shame you feel in needing to borrow from your elderly mother, and the anxiety of waiting for these two positions you have set your heart on. Please hear us with love, there is no shame in humbly receiving help in a season of need, and the Lord sees your desire to provide for yourself through honest work and to honor your mother. We are called to work diligently as unto the Lord, for whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men Col 3:23, and we also know that if anyone is not willing to work, neither let him eat 2 Thess 3:10. Your desire for freelance work to support yourself is good and godly, and God delights to provide for His children.

We also gently want to encourage you about where our access to the Father comes from. You prayed to the Lord, and we rejoice in that, yet we want to remind you that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God and that we are saved, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we urge you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Rom 10:9. It is in His name we pray with confidence.

We pray that you will cast your anxiety on Him because He cares for you 1 Pet 5:7, and remember His promise that your heavenly Father knows you need these things, but seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well Matt 6:33. Our God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Phil 4:19. We have seen His faithfulness through the years, for we have been young, and now are old, yet we have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread Psalm 37:25.

We lift you up now in prayer.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus Christ and we lift up our sister to Your throne of grace. Lord, You know her need for work, You know the financial pressure and the humility of borrowing from her mother, and You know the two positions she has applied for that seem so perfect to her. We ask that You would open doors that no one can shut Rev 3:8, and if it is Your will, grant her favor with those who are hiring and provide the freelance work she needs to support herself and to be a blessing to her mother. We ask that You would give her peace to replace shame, and help her to commit her deeds to You, that her plans may succeed Prov 16:3. Provide for her daily bread, guide her steps to the right opportunities, and help her to trust Your timing and Your perfect provision, even if Your answer looks different than these two positions. Strengthen her to continue diligent in her craft, to be a good steward, and to rest in Your love. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to keep diligently pursuing work while you wait, to keep your hands faithful in whatever small opportunities come, and to keep praying with thanksgiving. Trust that God may open these two doors if they are best for you, or He may open another door that is even better according to His wisdom. Keep honoring your mother in this season and seek to steward what you have with integrity, and the Lord will direct your path.

We've been holding your request before the Lord and we hear how heavy this season has been. Needing to borrow from your elderly mum while you wait for work brings a particular kind of shame, and waiting on two opportunities that feel perfect can make the silence even harder.

It makes sense those two roles are on your heart and we are asking God to open the right doors for you, whether those or another you have not seen yet. When freelance work is slow it is easy to start measuring your worth by your income. We want to remind you gently that your value to God and to your family is not defined by a contract or a paycheck, even when the financial pressure is very real.

One thing that has helped others in this kind of waiting is to name the most pressing pressure point and make a simple plan around it. If it helps, you might set a date next week for a brief, polite follow up on both applications, and in the meantime let a few trusted former clients or contacts know you have capacity. It can also ease some of the strain with your mum to have a clear, honest conversation about what you have borrowed and a realistic way you hope to repay it, even in small steps, so the relationship stays protected while you look for provision.

Father, we lift this sister to You. You see her need, her skills, and her desire to provide honestly without burdening her mum. Grant her wisdom as she follows up, favor with those making hiring decisions, and daily provision while she waits. Guard her from shame and give her peace and a clear sense of Your care. Your honest cry has been heard and we have brought it before the Lord with you. To be in need, to borrow from an aged mother, and to feel the weight of shame and anxiety is a heavy trial, and the Lord knows the burden you carry.

You are not alone in this anxiety about temporal things. Our Savior says do not be anxious about your temporal affairs. Be prudent, be diligent, and use what God has given with care, but do not fall into worry and fretfulness and distress. Anxiety has never comforted any heart, nor has it ever brought grist to the mill or meal to the barrel. If a thing does not profit, what is the good of it. Indeed the very anxiety which arises through being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. It clouds the mind and wearies the hands that should be steady for work. Cast your care upon Him, for He cares for you, and seek first His kingdom, trusting that He will provide what is needful.

You speak of shame, and we would point you to Him who bore all shame for His people. He gave His back to the smiters and hid not His face from shame and spitting, and for the joy set before Him He despised the shame of the cross. Because He has borne shame, your shame is not the end of your story. There is a shame which is wholesome when it drives the soul to seek the name of the Lord, to flee to Christ in humble faith and find mercy and grace. Bring this sense of need to Him not as a mark of condemnation but as a reason to seek His face anew, for He is gracious to those who call upon Him.

Remember Job, who lost estate and honor and health, and yet sinned not nor charged God foolishly. He worshipped even in his loss, and he waited upon God. And the Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed. The night did not hang its darkness over him forever. Though his glory seemed withered for a season, God in His providence at the last gave him twice as much as he had before, and his bow was renewed in his hand. God is able to renew your strength and to keep your glory fresh in you, whether by these two doors you have mentioned or by another way that His wisdom chooses as better for you.

So we pray for you, that the Lord in His mercy would open doors for honest and fruitful work according to His will. We ask that if it be for your good and for His glory, He would grant favor with those to whom you have applied and provide freelance work sufficient for your needs, that you may be relieved of this burden and be able to honor your mother and provide with thankfulness. And if He withholds these particular positions, we pray He will make clear another provision and keep you from anxious fretting, giving you peace in trusting His fatherly care and fitting you with wisdom and steadiness for whatever He sets before you.

May the Lord lift this weight of shame from you, remind you that your worth is in Christ, and teach you to rest in Him daily while you labor faithfully and wait patiently for His provision.

Your prayer has been heard and we join you in bringing it before the Lord with compassion and hope.

The shame you feel in needing to borrow from your elderly mother is understandable, and the Lord sees the humility and honesty with which you speak of it. Needing help is not a disgrace before God. Scripture teaches that want itself is not shameful, but it can become a school for trust. As Christ waited until the crowd had been with Him three days and had spent all they had before He fed them, so He sometimes allows us to feel our need deeply so that when He provides we receive His work with a more thankful and eager heart. Your present need can draw you closer to Him who daily opens His hand.

We pray for you now that the Father, who knows your need for daily bread, will open doors for honest and fitting work according to His wisdom and mercy. We ask Him to provide for you through faithful labor, to relieve the burden you feel and the burden on your mother, and to grant you peace as you wait. We bring before Him the two positions you have applied for, asking that if they are good for you and for His purposes, He would grant you favor and bring an answer. If in His greater knowledge another path is better, we ask that He would clearly open that door instead and give you contentment to follow it.

We also pray that He would guard your heart from discouragement and from a heavy sense of shame, and remind you that your worth is not measured by your income but by His love for you in Christ. Continue to work diligently with the gifts He has given you, to be faithful in small things, to honor your mother in how you speak and act toward her, and to seek first His kingdom while you seek daily provision.

May the Lord grant you steady work, supply what you need, sustain your mother, and fill you with quiet confidence that He has not forgotten you. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, trusting in His goodness to provide in His perfect time.

Your honesty about needing work and about borrowing from your mother touches the heart, and the shame you feel is understandable. Financial pressure, especially when you are willing to work and want to provide for yourself, can feel very heavy. God sees that weight and He cares about both your practical needs and the work He is doing inside you through this season.

Scripture teaches that God works in us before He works through us. Often His shaping feels uncomfortable, like rough edges being smoothed, and we do not always understand why He allows a particular difficulty. Yet we are told to count it joy when we face hard testings, not because the hardship itself is joyful, but because God uses it to form patience, humility, and deeper trust in Him. This time of waiting and depending on help you did not want to need can become a place where He strengthens your faith and prepares you for what He has ahead. He has a purpose for your life and a work He wants to do through you, and He is faithful to prepare you for it.

That preparation does not mean you should limit how He provides. One of the most comforting truths is that God always leaves Himself room to work. We are tempted to put Him in a box and say He must answer in one of two ways, in this case the two positions you have set your heart on. It is right to pray for those doors and to ask Him to stir the hearts of those making decisions, for all true work is accomplished when God stirs willing hearts and gives wisdom and skill to do it. At the same time, leave room for Him to work as He chooses. He may open one of those doors, or He may open another that is better suited to sustain you and use the gifts He has given you. Pray that His will be done, not only that your preference be granted.

Remember also His promise to be with you as you work. The call in Scripture is to be strong and work, for the Lord is with you. That presence is your confidence whether the provision looks small or abundant compared to what you hoped for. And as you wait, do not let impatience rob you of what He is doing. If you wait with trust, you will often see how many things God works out that impatience would have spoiled.

There is also a simple, steady calling to diligence. Scripture exhorts that those who are able should work quietly and faithfully and provide for their own needs. You already show that willing heart. You are not looking for someone else to carry you, you are seeking honest work with the abilities God has given you. God honors that willingness. Continue to be faithful in the small opportunities, to seek, to apply, to use your skills well, trusting that He who gave you wisdom to do this kind of work can also open the right place for you to use it.

Above all, rest in what Christ has already finished for you. Your standing before God does not rest on whether you get these freelance contracts or on your ability to avoid borrowing. Salvation rests entirely on His grace and the finished work of Jesus on the cross, received by faith that He Himself draws and gives. You do not add to that work. You rest in it. When you rest in His finished work, you can bring your financial needs to Him without fear that your worth is measured by your income. You are His child, saved by grace, and He will not abandon you in this need.

I pray for you now that God, according to His mercy and wisdom, would provide the work you need, that He would open doors no one can shut and close those that should remain closed, that He would relieve the burden of debt and shame and provide for both you and your mother, that He would give you peace while you wait and a willing, strong heart to keep doing good work each day, and that you would know more deeply His grace that saved you and His Spirit drawing you near through every step of this trial.
