đź“– Word Spreads Fast, is Received 2 Thes 3:1-3 Spoken Prayed Written Sang Eph 5:19 Keep Close Eye on Our Life & Teaching: Save Self, Others 1 Tim 4:16

How eagerly you heap up Scripture upon Scripture, like one who brings many treasures out of a storehouse! Yet take care that the very abundance does not confuse the simple heart of prayer, which should be a child speaking plainly to its Father. You ask for the word of the Lord to spread rapidly and be glorified, and rightly so. But remember how the colt, though unbroken, went on orderly at His command, so the Gentiles were turned from wildness to obedience, not by clamor, but by the quiet power of the Master. The word does its work not through our multitude of citations, but through the Spirit who blows where He wills, unrestrained and mighty.

You pray for prophecy, and well you should, for we are commanded to earnestly desire spiritual gifts. Yet what is this prophecy you seek? Is it not the testimony of Jesus, which is the spirit of prophecy? The Sword of the Spirit is the word of God. You have the Scriptures in place of my voice; if you would learn anything, you may learn it from them. When you speak that word to others, do not suppose you must dazzle with signs and confirmations. See how our Lord dealt with the Samaritan woman: she was ignorant of the Scriptures, so He did not perplex her with deep texts, but drew her gently with simple words about water and her own life, and at the fitting time revealed Himself. She believed, and then became a fisher of others. So with you: keep a close eye on your life and teaching. Do not think that the kingdom depends on your eloquence or on visible demonstrations, but on the hidden rain that falls on the humble heart.

You pray to be delivered from unreasonable and wicked people. Yes, they will come, for not all have faith. But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. Only take care that you do not, in your zeal, make much of your own words and traditions. The Pharisees taught for doctrines the commandments of men, and their worship was in vain. Let your instruction aim at love from a cleansed heart, a good conscience, and sincere faith. The goal is not to amass experiences of authority over demons, though that may follow the preached word, but to rejoice that names are written in heaven. The demoniacs were subdued, but the colt's quiet submission was a greater prophecy of the Gentiles' conversion.

Therefore, sit at the feet of Scripture. It alone renders the man of God perfect, thoroughly equipped for every good work. Feed on it as on the living word; man shall not live by bread alone. Let your teaching be rain on the thirsty land, and trust the Spirit to bring the increase. Walk worthy of your calling, not with noise, but with the gentleness of Christ, who when reviled did not revile in return. Overcome the evil one not by spectacular display, but by forbearance and long-suffering, quoting Scripture in the hour of temptation. Then will your life itself become a living epistle, known and read by all, and the word will spread rapidly, glorified by the fruit of the Spirit in you.

Your prayer rises with a holy ambition. You are asking that the word of the Lord would run swiftly and be honored, and this pleases God because it aligns with what He has eternally purposed. The word is established in heaven; it is settled and enduring. Our part is to trust that His faithfulness extends to every generation and that He watches over His word to perform it. When your soul grows faint waiting for visible results, hope must return to the written truth. The Spirit often lets us come to the end of our own strength so that we remember where true power resides. He reminds us, “The word is in your mouth and in your heart,” and then He makes it effectual far beyond what our efforts could produce.

You asked that this teaching would be paired with a careful watch over life and doctrine, saving both yourself and your hearers. That is exactly the posture Scripture holds before us. Persevere in these things, for in doing so you will ensure salvation for yourself and for those who hear you. The goal of such instruction is love from a purified heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith. But that sort of life requires more than human resolve. It takes the Holy Spirit filling and overflowing. The Spirit was already present bringing conviction before you believed, and He indwells every believer at conversion. Yet the Scriptures also present an experience of empowering by the Spirit that is distinct from and subsequent to conversion, an outpouring for service and bold witness. Do not put limitations on how He might do this. The sign on the day of Pentecost and later in the household of Cornelius was speaking in other tongues, magnifying God. In other times and places the Spirit sovereignly gave gifts of prophecy, healings, or words of knowledge. The Spirit distributes these gifts as He wills, and the evidence that a life has been filled is not an isolated event but the steady flow of living water: love, joy, peace, and a testimony that carries weight.

You are right to long that the word would be confirmed with fruit, with gifts, and with authority over the powers of darkness. The early church knew something of this. When Paul taught the word in that city for eighteen months, the Lord stood by him and said, “I have many people in this city.” The word spread from that center because it was backed by the power of God and the faithful instruction of the saints. Yet you also wisely recall that not all have faith. Unreasonable and wicked people will oppose the message, just as the evil spirit harassed Saul after the Spirit of the Lord departed from him. The Lord permits such seasons to test and to refine, but He remains faithful and will establish you and guard you from the evil one. When the enemy presses in, hold fast to this: the Spirit of God is not given to make you timid, but to fill you with power, love, and a sound mind. Return often to the promise that the word of God is not chained, even when the messenger feels hemmed in.

The prayer that the word would run and produce international discipleship, baptizing and teaching all that Jesus commanded, is the very mission He left to His church. The Holy Spirit did not fall first on the apostles while they were preaching to thousands, but while they were waiting in prayer, and He sovereignly fell on the Gentiles while Peter was still speaking. He remains the true missionary. Our task is to abide in the vine, to pay close attention to ourselves and to the teaching, and to let the Spirit of the Father speak through us at the right moment. We pursue love and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, especially that we might speak words that build up, encourage, and console. Such prophecy is not a new revelation added to Scripture, but the sword of the Spirit, the word of God, applied with precision to a heart.

That line you love is central: the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. Every true move of the Spirit magnifies the Son. He takes what belongs to Christ and discloses it to us. So your prayer for conversions that last and names written in the Lamb’s book of life is the ultimate cry. There is rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents, and wise souls still win souls. Keep asking the Lord of the harvest to thrust out laborers, and keep expecting that His word will not return to Him void. May the Spirit fill you afresh, that your life becomes a living letter known and read by all, and may your joy be full as others are brought into fellowship with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, He answers what He has authored. Amen.

We are deeply grateful for the privilege to stand with you in prayer as you seek the rapid spread and powerful impact of God’s Word. It has been our joy to lift up these requests before the Lord, asking Him to honor His Word above all else and to use it mightily for the salvation of souls, the edification of the Church, and the glory of His name.

As the days have passed, we continue to trust in the faithfulness of our Lord, who establishes and guards His people from the evil one. We pray that His Word would indeed be received with the respect and priority it deserves—in our lives, in the Church, and throughout the world. May it be spoken, prayed, written, and sung with power, covering much ground in international discipleship, leading many to baptism and obedience to Christ.

If the Lord has already moved in answer to these prayers, we would be overjoyed to hear how He has worked! Please share a praise report so we may rejoice together in His faithfulness. If the answers are not yet visible, we encourage you to post this request again so we may continue to stand in agreement with you before the throne of grace. The harvest is plentiful, and the Lord of the harvest is at work.

May the Holy Spirit empower you and all who proclaim the Gospel, equipping the Church, unifying believers in faith, and bearing much fruit for His kingdom. We pray that the Word would be confirmed with signs, wonders, and the fruit of righteousness, and that many would come to know Christ as Savior and Lord. May your joy be found in the privilege of sharing the Good News, and may the Lord grant you wisdom, boldness, and effectiveness in every word you speak for Him.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, trusting that He who began a good work will bring it to completion. May God bless you abundantly as you continue to seek Him and make Him known. Amen.
