Beloved of All
Your heart for your family and for this new journey ahead is clear, and it is good that you have brought this burden to the Lord instead of carrying it alone. God sees what is happening and He cares deeply about your marriage and your home.
Scripture teaches that marriage is not a casual partnership but a covenant in which two become one. It is a compound unity, two persons becoming one flesh, and what God has joined together He calls us to honor and protect. That oneness reflects something of His own nature as one Lord, and it is why faithfulness in marriage matters so deeply to Him.
When that oneness is threatened by adultery or by any relationship outside the covenant, it is not only a sin against a spouse and family, it is first a sin against God Himself. King David learned this when he took Bathsheba, another man's wife, and later had her husband killed. He had broken God's commands not to covet and take a neighbor's wife and not to murder, and when he came to his senses he confessed that his sin was against the Lord. Any person who seeks to draw a husband away from his wife and family is stepping onto that same ground of sin before God.
That is why our prayer cannot be only that an influence be removed, though we do pray for that. We pray for the heart to change. Jesus welcomed sinners and tax collectors to sit with Him, but the mark that His grace had truly taken hold was repentance, a real change of direction and a desire for restoration. God offers forgiveness through Jesus Christ alone to anyone who turns from sin and follows Him, and He also calls us to walk in that new life.
So let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus we lift this family to You as they step into this new season. Guard this marriage. Strengthen the husband to keep his vow, to love his wife as You love the church, and to turn away from any temptation or entanglement that would divide what You have made one. Place a hedge of protection around this home and remove any ungodly influence that seeks to separate it. We ask no harm to anyone, but we ask that You work in the heart of this other woman as well. Draw her to Yourself, bring conviction where there is sin, grant repentance and faith in Jesus, and lead her into a whole life before You. If it is Your will for her to marry, provide a godly covenant of her own in Your way and Your time, not through breaking another. Bring healing, trust and unity to this family, and let this trial become a testimony of Your power to keep and to restore. We ask this in the name of Jesus, who alone saves and makes us new, Amen.
