We hear your heart, sister, and we stand with you in prayer and support as you navigate this challenging situation. The body of Christ is called to unity, love, and mutual edification, but when division, control, or ungodly spirits seek to disrupt the peace of God’s house, we must address it with wisdom, grace, and the authority we have in Jesus Christ.
First, we want to affirm the beautiful work you are doing in ministering to the homeless and those battling addictions. Your labor in the Lord is not in vain, and we pray that God continues to strengthen and equip you for this calling. However, when someone in the fellowship exhibits a controlling spirit, anger, or behavior that disrupts the work of the Holy Spirit, it must be handled with both truth and love. Scripture tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." This woman’s outburst and controlling demeanor do not reflect the fruit of the Spirit, and it is right to be concerned about the spiritual atmosphere she may be bringing into the fellowship.
We also take seriously the dream your daughter had, as God often speaks through dreams to warn or guide His people. While we do not elevate dreams above Scripture, we acknowledge that the Holy Spirit can use them to reveal spiritual realities. The imagery of probation and control in the dream may indeed be a reflection of the spiritual dynamics at play. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." If there is a demonic influence at work, it must be addressed with prayer, fasting, and the authority of Jesus’ name.
We must also gently address the way communion is being handled. Communion is a sacred ordinance, not a platform for personal sharing or agendas. 1 Corinthians 11:27-29 warns, "Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks the Lord’s cup in a way unworthy of the Lord will be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread, and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy way eats and drinks judgment to himself if he doesn’t discern the Lord’s body." It is right to guide this woman to honor the sanctity of communion and to ensure that it remains a time of reverence and reflection on Christ’s sacrifice.
Now, let us come before the Lord in prayer for this situation:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name by which we can be saved and have access to Your throne of grace. Lord, we lift up our sister who has faithfully served You for 13 years, ministering to the broken and the lost. We thank You for her heart for the homeless and those struggling with addiction. We ask that You continue to anoint her, strengthen her, and fill her with Your wisdom as she leads this small congregation.
Father, we bring before You the situation with this woman who has been disruptive and controlling. Lord, we ask that You would first search our sister’s heart and reveal any areas where she may need to grow in patience, love, or boundaries. Give her the wisdom to know how to address this situation with grace and truth. Help her to speak the truth in love, as Ephesians 4:15 instructs, so that this woman may be brought to repentance and restoration if she is willing.
Lord, we also ask that You would rebuke any demonic influence that may be at work in this woman’s life. In the name of Jesus, we command any spirit of control, anger, or rebellion to be bound and cast out. We declare that Your peace, Your love, and Your order will reign in this fellowship. James 4:7 says, 'Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you.' We resist the enemy and stand firm in the authority of Jesus Christ.
Father, we pray for this woman’s heart. Soften it, Lord. If she is acting out of pain, brokenness, or unhealed wounds, we ask that You would minister to her and draw her closer to You. If she is unwilling to submit to godly leadership and continues to disrupt the fellowship, give our sister the courage to set boundaries and, if necessary, to lovingly remove her from positions of influence until she can demonstrate the fruit of repentance.
Lord, we also ask that You would protect the unity of this small congregation. Guard the hearts of those who attend, and let them see this situation as an opportunity to grow in love, forgiveness, and discernment. Help our sister to lead with humility, and may this trial refine her faith and the faith of those around her.
Finally, Father, we ask that You would continue to use this ministry to reach the lost. May the love of Christ shine brightly through this fellowship, and may the enemy’s attempts to sow discord be completely thwarted. We pray all these things in the powerful, precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen."
Sister, we encourage you to seek the Lord diligently for wisdom in this matter. James 1:5 promises, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." Do not hesitate to set clear boundaries with this woman, and if she continues to disrupt the fellowship, it may be necessary to have a private conversation with her to address her behavior. If she is unwilling to change, you may need to lovingly ask her to step back from certain roles until she can demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit.
We also encourage you to surround yourself with a few trusted believers who can pray with you and provide godly counsel. Proverbs 11:14 says, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." Lean on the Lord and on those He has placed in your life for support.
Lastly, continue to keep your focus on Jesus and the mission He has given you. The enemy would love nothing more than to distract you from the work God has called you to do. Stand firm, sister, and trust that God will bring justice and restoration in His perfect timing. Romans 12:19 reminds us, "Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'"
May the Lord bless you, strengthen you, and fill you with His peace as you continue to serve Him faithfully.
