We hear the heaviness in your heart and we join with you in bringing this burden before the Lord together in Jesus' name. We understand how discouraging it feels to watch those who act selfishly and greedily seem to prosper while you and your husband seek to do what is right, and how painful it is to see your husband wounded by his own sibling over something so temporary as a house and material things.

We want to gently remind you of what Scripture says about this very feeling. The psalmist felt the same way when he saw the wicked prospering. Do not fret because of evildoers, neither be envious against those who work unrighteousness. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither like the green herb. Psalm 37:1-2. And again, Rest in Yahweh, and wait patiently for him. Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who makes wicked plots happen. Psalm 37:7. God sees all that has happened in that house, the harassment, the gossip, the lies, and the breaking down of what your husband and his late parents worked so hard to build. The Lord says, I, Yahweh, search the mind. I try the heart, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings. Jeremiah 17:10. Nothing is hidden from Him.

We also feel the strain this battle has placed on your marriage, and we pray God will protect the unity He has given you. You and your husband are one flesh before God, and the enemy would love to use this inheritance dispute to divide you. Do not let bitterness take root. See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God, that no root of bitterness springing up troubles you and many be defiled by it. Hebrews 12:15. We understand your exhaustion and your desire to just give everything to them to have peace, and we also understand your husband's refusal because he feels the injustice and dishonor to his parents' hard work. Neither of you is wrong for feeling this way, but we encourage you both to seek the Lord together for wisdom on when to contend for what is right and when to release it into God's hands, trusting that He is your ultimate provider and defender. Seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33.

The Lord calls us to a different response toward those who have hurt us, even family. Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t take revenge. Instead, leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. Romans 12:19. And Jesus said, Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. Matthew 5:44. This does not mean what they have done is okay, for greed and sowing strife among brothers is sin in God's eyes, but it means we release them to God's justice and we choose to let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:31-32. We hear how your husband replays what they did and how it affected him, and we pray the Lord will heal that bleeding wound of betrayal so his heart is not consumed by it.

We also noticed you shared you are a woman of prayer, and we honor your faithfulness, yet you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request. We want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead, we will be saved. Romans 10:9. It is by His name and His shed blood that we can bring every hurt and injustice boldly to the throne of grace.

We pray together with you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear sister, her husband, and their children. Lord, You see the pain, the gossip, the lies, and the greed that drove them from that house. You see the house being broken down and the sorrow in this husband's eyes over his parents' legacy and his sibling's betrayal. We ask You to comfort them as only You can, to bind up the brokenhearted and heal their wounds. Psalm 147:3. Guard their marriage, Lord, let no strife over material things divide what You have joined together. Give them unity, wisdom, and peace that surpasses all understanding to guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7. Help them to cast all their worries on You, because You care for them. 1 Peter 5:7. Father, we ask for Your justice to be done regarding this inheritance, in Your perfect timing and way. If it is Your will for them to receive their share, make a way where there seems to be no way. If You are calling them to release it for the sake of peace, give the husband supernatural grace to let go and trust You as his portion and provider. Free him from replaying the hurt, and help him to forgive as You have forgiven us. Let them not grow weary in doing good, for in due season they will reap if they do not give up. Galatians 6:9. Deal justly with those who have acted selfishly, and bring conviction and repentance if it be Your will. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you both to stay in the Word together daily, to pray together as husband and wife even when you disagree on the next step, and to seek godly counsel, both spiritual and wise legal counsel, so that decisions are made with clarity and not out of exhaustion or anger. Keep your eyes on the eternal, for these material things are temporary, but your marriage, your family, and your testimony for Christ are eternal. God has not forgotten you, He is not rewarding the unfair, He is storing up for you a far greater reward as you remain faithful.

We hear how heavy this has been for you and your husband, and how discouraging it feels to watch someone act unfairly and seem to get ahead while you tried to do the right thing and had to leave your home to find peace for your children. Of course you are exhausted. You love your husband and it hurts to see the betrayal sitting so heavy on him, and to feel your marriage strained by something you both did not choose.

It makes sense that part of you wants to just walk away from the house to make the conflict stop, and that your husband wants to honor what his parents worked for. When you both are carrying hurt and talking about it constantly, even a good marriage can start to feel thin.

One thing that has helped other couples in a long property dispute is to give the marriage some protected space. You might agree together on a set time to talk about the house and legal steps, and then intentionally protect other time for rest, for your children, and for just being husband and wife without that topic. It does not solve the dispute, but it helps keep the dispute from consuming everything.

It may also help to get steady, calm guidance together outside the family, a trusted pastor and a reputable legal advisor who can explain your options clearly so you are not carrying all the decisions alone in the middle of the hurt.

Father, we lift this wife and her husband to You in Jesus name. You see their weariness and the wound of this family betrayal. Grant them wisdom for next steps, comfort for her husband's heart, and grace to guard their marriage and care for their children in this hard season. Lead them day by day as You will. Amen.

It is a heavy and bitter burden you carry, and your honest cry has been heard. To see those who deal unfairly appear to prosper while you seek to do what is right is a trial that has wrung the hearts of the saints in every age. The psalmist himself confessed the same when he saw the wicked flourishing and was grieved until he went into the sanctuary of God and understood their end. What you feel is not strange, and your discouragement does not mean your prayers have been in vain.

The Lord has not overlooked what has been done in that house which your husband and his parents laboured to build. He sees the harassment, the gossip, the lies, and the greed which has driven you and your children from your home. He sees also the deeper wound, that a brother should turn against his own brother for the sake of material things which are but temporary. This is indeed a betrayal that makes the heart bleed, and it is one in which our Lord Himself can sympathize with you. He was betrayed by one near to Him, and the psalmist wrote of the wound of a familiar friend. Your husband speaks often of what was done because the wound is still open. It is not only the loss of a share of property, but the loss of brotherly love, and that cuts far deeper.

Do not think that because the brother and his wife seem now to be winning, they are therefore blessed. There is a great difference between seeming to win for a season and being truly prospered by God. All things are in the hand of Him who shows mercy according to His sovereign will, and He will in His own time bring justice to light. The Scriptures fulfilled in the betrayal of Christ teach us that God is wiser than the prince of evil, and He can make even the sinful acts of men to serve His purposes while still holding men accountable for their sin. You may safely leave vengeance and vindication in His hands.

For your marriage, take heed that this trial, which was meant to divide you, does not succeed in doing so. Marriage is not merely living under one roof, but a union cemented by mutual love where husband and wife become one. The strain you feel is real, and the enemy would use this outward pressure to create inward distance. You were right to counsel peace when you said to leave it all to them, for your spirit longs for quiet, and yet your husband feels the weight of duty and of honouring his parents memory. Neither of you is wrong to feel as you do. Seek to bear this burden together rather than letting it become a contention between you. Let him know you are with him, not only in seeking what is fair, but in grieving what is lost. Pray together, weep together, and resolve that no house and no inheritance shall be allowed to break the covenant you have made before God.

It is wise to seek godly and lawful counsel concerning what is rightfully your husband's share, and to pursue it in a quiet and honest manner without returning evil for evil or gossip for gossip. Set firm boundaries for the sake of your children and your peace, and do not return to a place of harassment. At the same time, guard your hearts against bitterness. Bitterness will devour you more quickly than any loss of property. Forgiveness before God does not mean pretending that wrong was not done, nor does it require you to place yourselves again under harm, but it does mean releasing the final judgment to God and asking Him to keep your hearts soft.

Continue in prayer, even when prayer feels heavy. You describe yourself as a woman of prayer, and that is your strength. Let family prayer be maintained, let private prayer be kept diligently though with few words and many tears. Tell the Lord plainly of the hurt in your husband's eyes, of your weariness, of your children's distress. He is the Father of the family of God, and those who are quickened by His Spirit bear His likeness in this, that they cry to Him and are heard.

We will pray for you, that the Lord would grant you justice according to His will, comfort for your husband's bleeding heart, protection for your children, and a renewed unity in your marriage. May He lift this exhausting weight, give you wisdom for each next step, and fix your hope not on these passing possessions but on the inheritance which is undefiled and fadeth not away, which is yours in Christ. Even now, may He give you that peace which passes understanding to keep your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ our Lord.
