Money? Do you acknowledge that I have not received guidance that would be good for me? What is the current estimated amount of money in the state treasury? And what of those who have distinguished themselves by distancing themselves from me—through their deeds, their words, and their circle of Bible reading? Am I to feel that I have not earned the fires of Hell, and that my mother and I cannot be helped? But regarding my mother’s cry—"Help!"—services for my mother come from Jesus Christ alone: God, the Holy Spirit, and the angels!

We join you in bringing this burden before the Lord and we hear the weight of what you are carrying regarding provision, guidance, relationships, and the cry of your mother for help.

We acknowledge before God that you feel you have not received good guidance and that you feel distant from others, even from a circle of Bible reading, and that you are wrestling with questions about money and about worthiness before God. We want to gently remind you that God does promise to give guidance to those who seek Him. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him James 1:5. We also are taught to Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. His guidance most often comes through His Word, through prayer, and through the quiet leading of the Holy Spirit, not always through immediate answers about worldly matters.

Regarding money and the question about the state treasury, we do not have that estimate and we would not look to the state as our ultimate source. Our confidence is that My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19 and that we are called to Seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33. We pray that the Lord will provide for you and your mother in ways that show His faithful care, and that He will guard your heart from anxiety over riches, for He has said I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you Hebrews 13:5.

Concerning those who have distanced themselves from you through their deeds, words, and their circle of Bible reading, we encourage you not to harbor bitterness. We are exhorted not to forsake our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching Hebrews 10:25. If hurt has happened, we pray you may be able to forgive as the Lord forgave you Colossians 3:13, and that God would either restore healthy fellowship or lead you to a faithful community where the Word is truly opened and lived.

You ask about feeling that you have not earned the fires of hell and that you and your mother cannot be helped. We must speak truth here with love. Scripture says all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God Romans 3:23 and The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord Romans 6:23. No one earns deliverance from judgment by being good enough, and no one is beyond help. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast Ephesians 2:8-9. We rebuke the lie that you or your mother are beyond the reach of God’s mercy. If you are in Christ, you are not destined for wrath but for salvation, and God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1.

We rejoice that you declare that services for your mother come from Jesus Christ alone, God, the Holy Spirit, and the angels. We affirm that all true help comes from the Lord, for there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus 1 Timothy 2:5. Angels are ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation Hebrews 1:14, but they serve under Christ’s authority. Our help is in the name of Yahweh, who made heaven and earth Psalm 124:8, and we come to the Father only through Jesus, who said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift up this dear one and his mother to You. Lord, You see the cry of Help from his mother and You hear the confusion and loneliness in his heart. We ask that You pour out Your wisdom and guidance, that You make Your will clear through Your Word and give peace that passes understanding. Provide for their daily needs as only You can, and teach them to trust You more than any earthly treasury. Heal the wounds caused by those who have distanced themselves, soften hearts, grant forgiveness, and bring godly fellowship around them. Remind them that they are not forgotten and not without hope, that Your mercy is new every morning and Your grace is sufficient. We ask that both of them would rest fully in Jesus for salvation and help, knowing that You are able to work all things together for good for those who love You Romans 8:28. Guard them from despair, lift them from fear of judgment into the assurance of Christ’s finished work on the cross, and let Your Holy Spirit comfort and lead them each day. We ask this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our only hope, Amen.

Your cry has been heard, and with it the cry of your mother, and I would lay both before the Lord who alone can help.

You ask concerning money and the state treasury, as though help might be reckoned there. I have no reckoning of what lies in the treasury of the state, nor is that knowledge given to me, and even if it were, it would not be your help. If the Lord does not help you, where can help be found for you. There are conditions of life, as long continued poverty, which sorely try faith, and some of God's own people have lacked not only luxuries but necessaries, yet their help has not been in princes or in treasuries, but in Him who hears the groaning of His people. Look not to the coffers of man, but to the riches of grace in Christ Jesus.

You ask whether you have not received guidance that would be good for you. The best guidance is not in the wisdom of this world, but in the Word of God, which is bread for the soul. There you find Christ set forth, His grace, His atonement, His wounds and bloody sweat upon the Cross. Feed there, and you shall find counsel for every step. Do not delay for a single hour to approach the Saviour, for He would not have you tarry. Yield to His love who round you now would cast the bands of a man and the cords of His love.

You speak of those who have distinguished themselves by distancing themselves from you through their deeds and words and circle. It is a bitter trial to be forsaken, yet remember this, if you hate any, or seek revenge, or cherish an unforgiving spirit, you are not dwelling in the light. Commit them to God. Pray for them rather than give them up as hopeless, and leave vengeance in His hands who judges righteously. He makes the house of bondage hot that He may fetch His people out of Egypt, and Pharaoh's power cannot hold the least of His redeemed.

You ask whether you have not earned the fires of Hell, and whether you and your mother cannot be helped. Hear the truth plainly. Being guilty, we must take the place of the guilty, for there is mercy for a sinner, but no mercy for the man who will not acknowledge himself a sinner. We have all merited condemnation, and apart from Christ we lie upon the edge of a precipice with a frightful gulf beneath us. Yet here is the pith of the whole matter, trust your soul in His hands and He will redeem you out of the jaw of the lion, yea, out of the very mouth of Hell. It is not for God's glory to destroy a seeker, rather it is for His honor to receive such as humbly repose in the sacrifice of His dear Son. Every minute you live in unbelief you make God to be a liar, but the moment you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ you shall see the glory of God in the conversion of your soul.

And concerning your mother's cry, Help, you have spoken truly. Services for your mother come from Jesus Christ alone, God, the Holy Spirit, and the angels who are His ministering spirits. Her cry has come up unto God, and God has heard her groaning. He knows all about your painful pathway of grief and longs to bring you to a better place. Go now to your Father whom you have offended, with humble and contrite hearts, in lowliness and brokenness of spirit, for He will surely accept you as His children through the precious blood.

Oh that you would cry now, Save me, Lord, for Your sweet mercy, and let me live and not die. Such a prayer from the ends of the earth shall be heard. You shall yet say with Jonah, Out of the belly of Hell cried I and You heard me. May the Lord give you grace so to cry, and to find full assurance that eternal life is pulsing in your heart through faith in Christ alone.

Your words have been heard with care and with prayer before God. You have asked about money, about guidance that has not seemed good for you, about the amount in the state treasury, about those who have distanced themselves from you in deeds and words and in their reading of Scripture, about whether you and your mother have earned hell and whether you can be helped, and about your mother's cry for help that you rightly say can be answered only by Jesus Christ, by God and the Holy Spirit and the ministry of angels.

On money and on the treasury, I do not have an estimate to give you and such a number would not in itself give peace. What Scripture teaches is to seek first the kingdom of God and to trust His providence for daily bread, while also using honest work, wise counsel and faithful stewardship. If guidance you have received has not been good, bring that need directly to the Lord in prayer and to His Word, and seek counsel from mature believers who walk faithfully with Christ and who will speak the truth in love. God has not left us without light. His judgments and His promises are set before us to lead us.

On those who have distanced themselves from you, do not let bitterness take root. Pray for them, bless them, and continue to walk in truth. If their distance is because of faithfulness to Scripture, receive it as a call to examine yourself. If it is from hardness or misunderstanding, commit them to God who judges rightly. The Church is called to be one body, and that unity is kept not by pretending that all ways are equal, but by speaking truth and showing mercy together.

On hell, you ask if you have not earned its fire. Scripture is clear that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and that the wages of sin is death. None of us can claim by our own life that we have not deserved judgment. This is why the warning of hell is given, not to crush you without hope, but to awaken the soul and to keep it from falling. To remember the judgment to come purifies the heart and makes us slow to sin, as silver is refined by fire. Yet fear alone is not the highest motive. We are called to love Christ Himself, not only to fear punishment. To be apart from God is already a great loss, and the fire is threatened so that we will run to Him while there is time.

That time is now. Scripture calls this the time of grace, when we may come boldly to the throne of grace to find mercy and help in our need. Through Jesus Christ alone there is salvation, forgiveness and adoption as children of God. There is no other name by which we are saved. Your mother and you can indeed be helped, not by any merit of your own, but by the mercy of God in Christ. His help comes through His Spirit, according to His will, and He is able to use even angels as ministering servants, but the source is Christ Himself, crucified and risen, who broke the gates of hell and opened heaven.

So I pray for you and for your mother in this way, that God would grant you repentance where repentance is needed, faith where faith is weak, daily provision according to His wisdom, comfort in distress, and a living love for Christ that is stronger than the fear of punishment. May He give you a clear path, faithful counsel, a soft heart toward those who have hurt you, and assurance that as you turn to Jesus in truth, you will find grace and mercy to help in this very hour.
