Wish I could believe in a god. Life has taught me there is no such thing.

Beloved of All
If he did exist and cared at all, he would have taken me long ago. I hurt so much and have no hope or purpose. I am so afraid.

We hear the depth of your pain and despair, and our hearts ache with you. The weight of suffering can make it feel as though God is distant or even nonexistent, but we want to gently share that this is not the truth. The Bible tells us, *"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit"* (Psalm 34:18 WEB). Your pain is seen, and your fear is known—even if it doesn’t feel like it right now.

You mentioned that if God existed and cared, He would have taken you long ago. But Scripture reveals a God who does not delight in suffering or abandonment. Instead, He enters into our pain with us. Jesus Himself cried out on the cross, *"My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"* (Matthew 27:46 WEB), showing that even in the darkest moments, God does not leave us. He is not a distant observer but a Father who grieves with us. The fact that you are still here may be evidence of His mercy—holding you in a moment when you feel like letting go, offering you time to encounter His love.

We must also share that hope and purpose are not found in our circumstances but in Christ. The world will fail us, people will fail us, and even our own strength will falter—but Jesus promises, *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest"* (Matthew 11:28 WEB). This is not a shallow comfort but an invitation to lay down the weight you’ve been carrying and find true rest in Him. Salvation comes through believing in Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose again so that we might have eternal life (John 3:16 WEB). There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB).

Your fear is real, but so is the power of God to meet you in it. We pray that you would encounter His presence in a tangible way, even now. Let us lift you up before the throne of grace:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother/sister who is hurting deeply. Lord, You see their pain, their fear, and their despair. We ask that You would reveal Yourself to them in a way that they cannot deny. Break through the darkness, Father, and let them feel Your nearness. Remind them that You are the God who collects every tear (Psalm 56:8 WEB) and that You have not abandoned them. Give them the strength to take one more step, one more breath, knowing that You are holding them. Soften their heart to receive the truth of Your love and the hope found only in Jesus Christ. Surround them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7 WEB), and lead them to people who can walk with them in this season. We ask for a miracle of faith, Lord—open their eyes to see You, their ears to hear You, and their heart to trust You. In the precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to seek out a biblical church or a trusted believer who can walk with you. Isolation can make pain feel heavier, but community can help bear the load. You are not alone, even when it feels that way. The enemy wants you to believe that God doesn’t care, but we declare over you that God *does* care—so much that He sent His Son to die for you. That is the depth of His love. Hold on, dear one. There is purpose in your pain, even if you cannot see it yet.

We're here with you, holding your hands in our hearts. It's okay to feel like God is far away, like He doesn't care. It's okay to hurt and to be afraid. We've been there too. But we want you to know, God sees you. He's not distant or uncaring. He's right there, in the middle of your pain, feeling it with you. He's not surprised by your suffering, He's grieving with you.

You mentioned that if God existed and cared, He would have taken you long ago. But think about it, if He took us away every time we hurt, we'd all be gone by now. No, He's not taking you away, He's holding you here. There's a purpose in your pain, even if you can't see it yet. He's using this time to draw you closer to Him, to show you His love in a deeper way.

We know it's hard to believe in a God when life hurts so much. But we've found that true hope and purpose come from a relationship with Jesus Christ. He promises rest for the weary, comfort for the brokenhearted. He's not asking you to fix yourself first, He's asking you to come as you are. He loves you just the way you are.

Let's pray together, shall we? Heavenly Father, we come to You today, carrying our friend's heavy heart. Lord, You see their pain, their fear, their despair. We ask that You would reveal Yourself to them in a way that they can't deny. Break through the darkness, Father, and let them feel Your nearness. Remind them that You are the God who collects every tear. Give them strength to take one more step, one more breath, knowing that You are holding them. Soften their heart to receive the truth of Your love and the hope found only in Jesus Christ. Surround them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and lead them to people who can walk with them in this season. We ask for a miracle of faith, Lord - open their eyes to see You, their ears to hear You, and their heart to trust You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Be a Prayer Warrior: “Praying for others”

We want you to know how deeply we’ve carried your words in our hearts these past days. The ache in your post—your longing to believe, your pain at feeling unseen, your fear of a life without hope or purpose—has not gone unnoticed by us, and we trust it has not gone unnoticed by God either. We’ve prayed specifically that you would sense His nearness in ways you’ve never experienced before, that the love of Jesus would wrap around you like a warm embrace when you least expect it, and that your heart would be softened to recognize the quiet, persistent ways He’s been reaching for you all along.

We’ve asked God to reveal Himself to you—not in grand, overwhelming displays, but in gentle, personal moments that speak directly to your doubt and fear. We’ve prayed for tangible signs of His care: a kind word from a stranger, an unexpected peace in the midst of anxiety, or even a flicker of hope where there once was none. Most of all, we’ve prayed that you would encounter the truth that you are *not* forgotten, that your pain matters to Him, and that He is big enough to handle your questions, your anger, and your sorrow.

If any of these prayers have begun to unfold in your life—if you’ve sensed even the smallest shift in your heart or circumstances—we would be overjoyed to hear about it. Your story could be the very encouragement someone else needs to keep holding on. But if, after these days, you still feel lost in the darkness, please don’t hesitate to share that with us again. We will continue to stand with you, lifting your name before the Father, trusting that He is at work even when we can’t see it.

Above all, we pray that you would feel the weight of this truth: Jesus came not for those who have it all together, but for the broken, the doubting, and the weary. He is not put off by your questions or your fear; in fact, He invites you to bring them to Him just as they are. May you find the courage to take one small step toward Him, even if it’s just a whispered, “God, if You’re real…” We believe He will meet you there.

We love you, we’re praying for you, and we’re here for you. In Jesus’ name.
