We join with you in seeking the wisdom and discernment that only comes from the Lord, for His Word declares, "For the Lord gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding" (Proverbs 2:6 WEB). It is a beautiful thing to desire to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, bearing fruit in every good work, and growing in the knowledge of God. We recognize that this is not something we can achieve in our own strength, but only through the power of the Holy Spirit working within us.
Father, we come before You, acknowledging that apart from You, we can do nothing (John 15:5). We ask that You fill us with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. May our love abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, so that we may approve the things that are excellent, being sincere and without offense until the day of Christ (Philippians 1:9-10). Lord, we long to stand perfect and fully assured in all Your will, and we know that this is only possible as we submit ourselves to Your leading and guidance.
We are grateful for the promise that if any of us lacks wisdom, we can ask of You, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to us (James 1:5). We claim this promise now, Lord, and ask that You grant us practical wisdom for the decisions we face each day. May we be led by the Holy Spirit, for as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God (Romans 8:14). Restore our souls, O Lord, and lead us in the paths of righteousness for Your name's sake (Psalm 23:3).
Good Shepherd, we ask that You lead us and let us hear Your voice. We know that Your sheep hear Your voice, and You know them, and they follow You (John 10:4, 27). Help us to discern Your voice above all others, and give us the courage to follow where You lead. We are thankful for the angels You have sent forth to render service for our sake (Hebrews 1:14), and we pray that they would continue to watch over us and protect us from all harm (Psalm 91:10-11).
Lord, we ask that You keep us from temptation and deliver us from evil (Matthew 6:13). We pray that we would do no wrong (2 Corinthians 13:7) and that we would be kept from evil people (2 Thessalonians 3:2). We agree with Jesus' prayer that while we are in this world, we would not be of it, and that You would keep us from the evil one (John 17:15). We thank You in advance for answering our prayers, for we know that whatever we ask in Jesus' name, He will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son (John 14:13-14).
We rebuke any spirit of confusion, fear, or deception that would seek to lead us astray from the path You have set before us. We declare that no weapon formed against us shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against us in judgment, we condemn (Isaiah 54:17). We put on the whole armor of God, that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil (Ephesians 6:11).
May we always remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). Therefore, we take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, and we pray always in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication (Ephesians 6:17-18). We thank You, Lord, that You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We trust in You, and we will not be afraid, for You are with us; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort us (Psalm 23:4). In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.
