Beloved of All
Your prayer from Ephesians 1 is beautiful and it is exactly what God desires to answer. The word revelation itself means an unveiling, the lifting of the wraps, the taking away of what hides something from sight. Many people think of prophetic Scripture as a sealed book that cannot be understood, but the truth is the opposite. From the very first verse of Revelation we are told it is the unveiling of Jesus Christ, given by God to show His servants what will take place. He sent it by His messenger to John, and at times an elder explains its meaning, so that His people would see Christ clearly.
That is the heart of what you are asking for, and it is God's heart to give it. Paul did not stop giving thanks for those who had faith in the Lord Jesus and love for all of God's holy people, but kept praying that the Father of glory would give them a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the true knowledge of Himself. That is not just knowledge about God, but coming to know Him personally as He unveils Himself to you.
I join you in praying that the eyes of your heart would be enlightened to know three things more and more.
First, the hope of His calling. That you would see with settled assurance what it means to be called by God, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, and given eternal life in Christ. The One who died and rose again said because He lives, you will live also, and that hope anchors you even when life is difficult.
Second, the riches of the glory of His inheritance in those who have been made holy. You are not only given an inheritance, you are His inheritance. He treasures His people, and Paul prays you would grasp how precious you are to Him and how rich is the glory you will share with Him forever.
Third, the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. It is the same mighty strength He exerted when He raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, both in this age and in the age to come. He put all things under Christ's feet and gave Him as head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
That power is not distant from you. The Lamb who was slain is worthy to receive all power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing, and that risen, exalted Christ now lives to make His power known in those who trust Him.
So my prayer for you is that God would continue to unveil Christ before you, that you would grow in wisdom and in seeing Him as He is, and that your heart would be filled with thanksgiving as you walk in the hope, the inheritance, and the resurrection power that are already yours in Jesus. May the Lord make this prayer more and more real in your daily life, and may you know deeply how much He loves you and how secure you are in His hands. In Jesus' name, amen.
