🙇🏻 Wisdom & Revelation to Know God, The Hope of His Calling, Riches of Glorious Inheritance and the Surpassing Greatness of His Power, Eph 1:15-23, "For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you and your love for all those God has Made Holy, 16 do not cease giving thanks for you in my praying: 17 'That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a Spirit of Wisdom and of Revelation in the true knowledge of Himself. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so you will know the hope of His calling, the riches of the glory of His inheritance in those who have been sanctified, 19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accord with the working of the strength of His might 20 which He exerted in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His Right Hand in the Heavenly Places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, in this age and in the one to come. 22 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way,'" Eph 1:15-23.

We lift our hearts in agreement with your cry for wisdom and revelation, that we may know God more deeply, grasp the hope of His calling, walk in the riches of His glorious inheritance, and experience the surpassing greatness of His power. This prayer from Ephesians 1 is a treasure, and we stand with you in seeking these very things in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and the fullness of His blessings.

Father, we come before You as Your children, redeemed by the blood of Your Son, Jesus Christ. We ask that You would indeed give us a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the true knowledge of Yourself. Open the eyes of our hearts, Lord, that we may see You more clearly, love You more dearly, and follow You more nearly. Let us not be satisfied with surface-level faith, but press in to know You in all Your fullness, Your holiness, Your love, Your justice, Your mercy, and Your sovereignty.

We pray that You would enlighten us to understand the hope of Your calling. Help us to see the purpose You have for each of our lives, that we may walk in it with confidence and humility. May we live as those who have been called out of darkness into Your marvelous light, reflecting Your glory in all we do. Let us not grow weary or distracted by the things of this world, but keep our eyes fixed on the eternal hope we have in Christ.

Father, we also ask that You would reveal to us the riches of the glory of Your inheritance in the saints. Teach us to value what You value, to treasure what You treasure. May we see the church, the body of Christ, not as an institution, but as Your beloved bride, for whom Christ gave Himself. Let us live in unity, love, and mutual edification, for we are co-heirs with Christ and partakers of Your divine nature.

And Lord, we cry out for the surpassing greatness of Your power to be at work within us. You demonstrated this power when You raised Jesus from the dead and seated Him at Your right hand, far above all rule, authority, power, and dominion. We ask that this same power would work in us, enabling us to overcome sin, resist temptation, and walk in victory. Strengthen us to stand firm against the schemes of the enemy, knowing that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.

We rebuke any spirit of complacency, apathy, or unbelief that would seek to hinder us from pressing into these truths. We declare that we are more than conquerors through Christ who loved us, and nothing can separate us from Your love. We reject the lies of the enemy that would tell us we are unworthy, powerless, or without hope. Instead, we stand on the truth of Your Word, which declares that we are Your workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which You prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Father, we also want to address the foundational truth that there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved except the name of Jesus Christ. If anyone reading this has not yet surrendered their life to Him, we urge you to do so today. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, to whom be all glory, honor, and power, forever and ever. Amen.

Thank you for sharing this desire with us, it’s one we share deeply. What you’ve laid out from Ephesians is no small request; it’s the kind of prayer that reshapes the way we wake up each morning and face whatever the day holds. When we ask for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, we’re not chasing abstract knowledge but a living, felt awareness of God’s presence, His intentions toward us, and the sheer strength He makes available.

A simple practice we’ve seen bear fruit is to linger with this passage slowly over a few days, one phrase at a time. Maybe sit with “the hope of His calling” and ask, Lord, what does it mean right now that You’ve called me forward, not just someday but today? Or sit with “the surpassing greatness of His power” and bring the parts of your life where you feel weak or uncertain. Let those truths sink from head to heart. You might jot down whatever comes, even a single sentence each day, as a way to track how God’s Spirit is enlightening your understanding.

Above all, know that the very hunger you’re expressing is a sign of His work. He who began this in you will faithfully continue it.

Let’s hold this before Him together:

Father, thank You for this shared longing to know You more. We ask for that Spirit of wisdom and revelation; open the eyes of our heart so that we might truly grasp the hope You’ve set before us, the richness of what You’ve given us in Christ, and the mighty power that raised Him from the dead. Let these realities steady and strengthen us in the ordinary moments of this week. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Thou art brought to the very heart of Paul’s prayer, and it is a prayer which pants after the loftiest blessings. To know God, to have the eyes of the heart flooded with light, to grasp the hope of His calling, the riches of His inheritance, and the exceeding greatness of His power, this is to stand on the high mountain of communion. Notice well that all this is bound up in the Person of Christ. He is the power of God and the wisdom of God. Wouldst thou know the Father? Look unto Jesus. Wouldst thou measure the hope laid up for thee? It is a glorious hope, a hope that purifies and lifts the soul, and its ground is nothing less than the blood and righteousness of the Lamb. The riches of His inheritance in the saints are not to be computed by the gold of Ophir, for the price of wisdom is above rubies, and this inheritance is the purchase of Christ’s passion. It is an eternal weight of glory.

Concerning that surpassing greatness of His power, fix thy gaze upon the resurrection and enthronement of our Lord. The power that rolled away the stone and tore the bars of death asunder is the selfsame power that worketh in thee. Thy faintness and weakness are but the vacuum into which His might shall flow. This is not a power given to the proud or the self-sufficient, but it is the portion of those who trust. Trust in God is true wisdom. Cease, then, from thine own strength and from the vain calculations of sense. Cry mightily for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation. Remember that God’s nature and God’s promises are the deep wells from which the child of faith draws living waters. Plead the promises annexed to this very prayer, for there is a conquering power in faith that takes hold of the Divine pledges.

Let not thy heart be ashamed of this hope. The love of God is shed abroad within by the Holy Ghost, and this is the earnest of thy endless joy. Meditate much upon the Throne of God and of the Lamb. See Him who once bowed His head in death, now holding the keys of hell and of death. See Him as Head over all things to the Church, which is His body. The fulness of Him that filleth all in all is thy fulness. Dost thou ask how to enter into this? Oh, that the Lord would lift the film of unbelief from thine eyes, that His Word might drop as honey from the comb. The real power lies not in the letter alone, but in Jesus, THE WORD, speaking it fresh to thy soul. Hear Him saying, “Fear not.” Let this be thy high calling from heaven, to walk humbly with thy God and to glory only in the Lord. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You ask for that very wisdom and revelation of which the blessed Apostle speaks, praying to know God, to grasp the hope of His calling, and to feel the exceeding greatness of His power. This is no small request; it is the yearning of a soul aflame with the Spirit, and I join my thanksgiving to yours for such a desire.

Do not imagine, however, that this wisdom lies in the arguments of the world or the cleverness of human reasoning. The eyes of your heart must be opened. All the learning of the philosophers amounts to nothing without the light that comes from above. For Christ Himself is made unto us wisdom from God, not Plato, not the rulers of this age, who are passing away. The wisdom we speak is a mystery hidden in God, foreordained before the ages for our glory. It seems foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us it is the power of God. So when you pray for a spirit of wisdom and revelation, you are begging for nothing less than to have the mind of Christ, given by the Spirit who searches the deep things of God.

Consider the power you are asking to know: it is the very same strength which raised the Lord Jesus from the dead and seated Him far above every rule, authority, and dominion. Not a common grace, but the finger of God! This power is toward us who believe. It strengthens you to endure trials, to stand firm against the cunning of evil spirits, and to overcome the carnal reasonings that war against the soul. By the Holy Ghost alone are we made strong to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth, length, height, and depth of the love of Christ, a love that surpasses knowledge.

Yet, remember that like Abraham, we have not yet received the fullness of the inheritance. He obeyed and went out, not knowing where he was going, dwelling in tents as a stranger in a foreign land. So we, though already enriched by the promise, still journey toward the city whose builder and maker is God. The riches of His glorious inheritance are a hope, and hope that is seen is no hope at all. The world mocks this, but let them stumble; the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

Therefore, do not seek these things through idle curiosity or reliance on your own understanding. Many were ignorant of the Scriptures and the power of God, and so they erred. Approach rather with the humility that says, “I believe; help my unbelief.” Continue in that faith and love toward all the saints which the Apostle heard of and gave thanks for. And as you pray, know that the Father of glory is ready to pour out the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, to enlighten your heart, so that you may truly know the hope of His calling, the immeasurable riches of His grace, and the surpassing greatness of His power. These blessings are yours in Christ, who fills all in all. Seek them earnestly, and you shall find.

What a beautiful and scripturally grounded prayer you have brought before the Lord. You are asking for exactly what the Spirit longs to give: a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the true knowledge of Him. That prayer from Ephesians is a gateway into the very heart of God’s purposes for His people. When the eyes of your heart are enlightened, three things become alive: the hope to which He has called you, the staggering riches of His inheritance in those set apart for Him, and the immeasurable greatness of His power toward us who believe.

From the beginning to the end of Scripture, God is unveiling His Son. The book of Revelation is not a sealed mystery but an apocalypse, literally, an uncovering of Jesus Christ in His glory, authority, and coming kingdom. It pulls back the wraps so you can see Him as He truly is, the One who was dead and is alive forevermore. That same unveiling is exactly what you are praying for right now: not just facts about God, but a personal, illuminating knowledge of Him.

That power He wants you to know is the very power that raised Jesus from the dead and seated Him far above all rule, authority, power, and dominion. It is mighty power, resurrection power. No darkness, no earthly opposition, not even death itself can stand against it. This is your inheritance as a child of God. You don’t need to fear those who can harm the body; your life is hidden with Christ in God. And because He lives, you too will live, and reign with Him.

The hope of His calling is not a wishful guess. It is an anchor for your soul, rooted in the finished work of Christ and His return. This present world is still under the sway of the evil one, but it will not remain so. Jesus has already purchased redemption; soon He will take full possession of what is His. In the meantime, He has given you a little strength, and the key is to hold fast to His word and not deny His name. The Spirit will give you wisdom to do that.

So continue to press into this prayer. Ask the Spirit to show you what it means to be part of the bride for whom the Lamb was slain, to join the chorus that declares His worthiness to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing. Let that eternal perspective reshape your days. The inheritance is secure, the power is available, and the hope is bright. May the eyes of your heart be flooded with light.
