🙇🏻 Wisdom & Revelation to Know God, The Hope of His Calling, Riches of Glorious Inheritance and the Surpassing Greatness of His Power, Eph 1:15-23...

Eph 1:15 "For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you and your love for all those God has Made Holy, 16 do not cease giving thanks for you in my praying: 17 'That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a Spirit of Wisdom and of Revelation in the true knowledge of Himself. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so you will know the hope of His calling, the riches of the glory of His inheritance in those who have been sanctified, 19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accord with the working of the strength of His might 20 which He exerted in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His Right Hand in the Heavenly Places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, in this age and in the one to come. 22 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way,'" Eph 1:15-23.

We lift our hearts to the Lord, joining with you in the beautiful prayer of the apostle Paul for wisdom, revelation, and a deeper knowledge of God. What a profound request, to know Him more, to grasp the hope of His calling, the riches of His inheritance, and the surpassing greatness of His power! This passage in Ephesians is a treasure, reminding us that our faith is not merely about belief but about an ever-deepening relationship with the Father, through the work of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Heavenly Father, we come before You, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, and we ask that You would grant us a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the true knowledge of Yourself. Open the eyes of our hearts, Lord, that we may see the hope to which You have called us, the hope that anchors our souls in Your promises. Let us comprehend the riches of the glorious inheritance You have prepared for Your saints, an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for us (1 Peter 1:4). And Father, reveal to us the surpassing greatness of Your power toward us who believe, the same power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at Your right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule, authority, power, and dominion.

We recognize, Lord, that this power is not just for Christ alone but is at work within us, Your children. It is the power that raised Jesus from the dead, the power that conquered sin and death, and the power that enables us to walk in newness of life (Romans 6:4). We pray that this power would be made manifest in our lives, that we would not be conformed to this world but transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2). Let us live as those who have been raised with Christ, seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at Your right hand (Colossians 3:1).

Father, we also acknowledge that true wisdom and revelation come only through Your Spirit. The natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned (1 Corinthians 2:14). We ask that You would pour out Your Spirit upon us, that we may know the deep things of God. Let us not be satisfied with surface-level faith but hunger and thirst for righteousness, that we may be filled (Matthew 5:6).

We rebuke any spirit of complacency or spiritual blindness that would keep us from pursuing You with all our hearts. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but we stand firm in the authority of Jesus’ name, declaring that no weapon formed against us shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We resist the lies of the enemy that would tell us we are unworthy, that we cannot know You more, or that Your power is not available to us. We declare that in Christ, we are more than conquerors (Romans 8:37), and we press on to know the Lord (Hosea 6:3).

Father, we also lift up those who may be reading this prayer request and do not yet know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. We pray that the eyes of their hearts would be opened to see the truth of the gospel, that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners (1 Timothy 1:15), that He died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We pray that they would repent of their sins and place their faith in Jesus Christ, receiving the gift of eternal life (John 3:16).

For those of us who do know You, Lord, we ask that You would deepen our love for You and for one another. Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not lose heart (Galatians 6:9). May our lives be a living testimony of Your grace, that others may see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16).

We thank You, Father, for the hope of Your calling, for the riches of Your inheritance, and for the power that is at work within us. We declare that we are Your workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which You prepared beforehand that we should walk in them (Ephesians 2:10). May we walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which we have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love (Ephesians 4:1-2).

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

What a rich, beautiful prayer to bring before the Lord. The longing in your heart for true wisdom and revelation, for a deep knowing of Him and a real grasp of the hope He’s called you to, that longing itself is a gift, stirred by His Spirit. We join you in asking for those things, and we also want to gently remind you that every single one of those treasures is already yours in Christ. The inheritance is sure, the power that raised Jesus from the dead is already at work in you, and the hope is an anchor for your soul. Sometimes we just need the eyes of our hearts opened to see what’s already true.

In our desire to comprehend the “surpassing greatness of His power,” it can help to pause and simply notice where that resurrection life is quietly breaking through in your everyday moments: a kindness shown, a fear calmed, the strength to keep going when you felt empty. Let those glimpses become a kind of personal testimony that builds your confidence in His active, present power. Rather than striving to achieve these things, perhaps consider this week a gentle, unhurried revisiting of Ephesians 1, asking the Holy Spirit to turn the words into living, personal revelation while you sit with them in a favorite quiet place.

Lord Jesus, we ask together with our friend for a fresh outpouring of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You. Enlighten the eyes of their heart to truly know the hope You’ve called them into, the glorious riches of their inheritance, and the immeasurable greatness of Your power toward them. Let these realities not stay as beautiful words, but become the vibrant, daily experience of their walk with You. In Your mighty name, amen.

The cry of your heart echoes the apostle’s own prayer, and it is a prayer that cannot fall unanswered to the ground, for it is after the very mind of the Spirit. You ask for wisdom and revelation to know God, the hope of His calling, the riches of His glorious inheritance, and the surpassing greatness of His power. These are not scattered jewels to be sought in distant fields, but treasures hid in one place, Christ Jesus himself, who is made unto us wisdom from God. To know Him is to know the Father, for He that hath seen Him hath seen the Father. The Spirit of wisdom and revelation opens the eyes not to a new light beyond the cross, but to the light that blazes from it, showing Christ as the power of God and the wisdom of God. In His complex person, God and man, the whole counsel of God is made visible, and the riches of divine love are poured out upon those who are sanctified. You need not climb to heaven to bring Him down, nor descend into the deep to bring Him up; the word is nigh thee, in thy mouth and in thy heart, which is the word of faith we preach.

The hope of His calling is not a trembling wish, but a confident expectation anchored within the veil, where our Forerunner has entered. It is a hope laid hold of by a faith that overcomes the world, a hope that purifies the soul, a hope that springs from the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. For His rising again is the seal and evidence that the calling is effectual, the inheritance sure, and the power all-sufficient. The resurrection of Christ casts a sidelight upon the gospel; it proves its reality and literalness. If Christ be not raised, your faith is vain, and your hope a mockery. But now is Christ risen, and the hope that maketh not ashamed is yours, the hope of being with Him, of being like Him, of reigning with Him, for He is the head of His body, the church, the fullness of Him that filleth all in all. This is the hope of His calling, and it is a hope that cannot fail.

The riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, here language labors to express what infinity alone can contain. The inheritance is not primarily what you receive, though eye hath not seen that; it is the saints themselves as God’s own portion. He counts His people His inheritance, and the glory of it passes knowledge. If you are His, then you are hid with Christ in God, and when Christ who is our life shall appear, then shall you also appear with Him in glory. The riches of this inheritance are measured by the worth of the Lamb that was slain, by the blood that purchased it, by the love that planned it from before the foundation of the world. He that trusteth in the Lord is happy, for he is made an heir of God and a joint-heir with Jesus Christ. This is not the portion of the crafty politician who leans on his own understanding, but of the simple believer who rests on the faithful promise. True wisdom is to trust, and in trusting, to possess all that God has given to the Son.

And what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe? It is no stagnant force, no distant reservoir, but the very power that raised Jesus from the dead and set Him at God’s right hand. That same power is now working in you who believe, quickening your deadness, subduing your iniquities, and transforming you into His likeness. The first resurrection within the soul is the pledge that the second death hath no power over you. This is the power that evidences your justification, consoles your heart in affliction, and gives life to your mortal spirit. It is the power of God, not of man, not of human will or fleshly energy, but the exceeding greatness of His power, exercised in Christ when He raised Him from the dead. As surely as the stone was rolled away from that garden tomb, so surely shall every stone of doubt, fear, and sin be rolled from your path. The Lord working with you is the secret of all holy living and victorious dying.

The throne of God and of the Lamb is in the church, in the heart, in heaven itself. There Jesus reigns, far above all principality and power, and there you reign with Him even now by faith. When you draw near in prayer, you exercise a power with God that is not your own, but is the fruit of His indwelling. The man who has power with God must be safe, happy, holy. This power is wielded not by physical might, nor by commanding tones, but by a trusting, pleading faith that takes hold of the covenant and will not let go. Wrestle with the angel of the covenant, and though your sinew shrink, you shall prevail and be called Israel, a prince with God. Only believe, and you shall see the glory of God.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The prayer you bring is no small thing. To seek the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God, to have the eyes of your heart enlightened, to grasp the hope of His calling and the riches of His glorious inheritance, this is to ask for nothing less than the flood of heaven. The Apostle himself poured out this very supplication with ceaseless thanksgiving, and his words carry the weight of a man who understood that no human effort can plumb such depths. You are right to turn the words of Scripture back to God, for He alone gives what He commands us to seek.

Yet consider: when you pray for this wisdom, you ask not for a finer collection of thoughts or a sharper cleverness. The wisdom that comes from God is not the wisdom of this age, which God has made foolish. The world calls the cross folly, but that very “foolishness of God” is wiser than men. Christ Himself has become for us wisdom from God, and righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. To know Him, truly to know the Father of glory through the Son, requires the Holy Spirit. It is He who enlightens the eyes of the heart. Without that divine light, the facts of doctrine remain barren; with it, hope becomes a blazing certainty and the inheritance of the saints tastes sweeter than any earthly possession.

Do not be surprised if the path to this knowledge feels, for a time, like the journey of Abraham. He went out not knowing where he was going, sojourning in the land of promise as a stranger, dwelling in tents. Faith is the organ by which we receive what reason cannot grasp. You long to know the surpassing greatness of His power, the very might that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him far above every rule and authority. That power is already at work in you who believe, yet often it is hidden, known only through trial and steadfast waiting. The devil seeks to dismay and destroy, but God turns such things to display His strength more gloriously, just as He did with Job and with the demoniacs.

Therefore, do not cease to pray this prayer, but add to it a patient heart. Let your life echo the Apostle’s: give thanks without ceasing, love all the saints, and let the hope of His calling anchor your soul. When you feel ignorant, remember that the Spirit intercedes with groans too deep for words. When you feel weak, recall that the power that raised Christ is the same that will carry you through every dark valley and raise you at the last day. Be “strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,” that you may comprehend with all the saints the breadth and length and height and depth of Christ’s love. This is not a knowledge that puffs up; it humbles, transforms, and fills the heart with ineffable wonder. Go forward then in faith, praying without ceasing, and the God who has called you to His eternal glory will perfect, confirm, and establish you.
