Your love for your children and your desire to see them walk in peace and wholeness comes through so clearly, and God sees the burden you are carrying for each of them. He hears your prayers for protection, wisdom, favor and restoration in your home.

Scripture teaches that our relationship with God is primary and must be set right first. The first commandments concern loving God with all our heart, and only when that vertical relationship is right can our relationships with people be rightly ordered. It is the center and axis on which everything else turns. God does not want a half hearted or merely legal relationship with us. He wants a whole hearted, loving relationship as a Father with His children. Through Jesus Christ alone we are adopted into His family, and we are invited to come to Him as Our Father, to know how deeply He loves us and to love Him in return. When we try to run from Him or hide from Him we only bring more trouble on ourselves, but when we turn to Him honestly, acknowledge our need and trust His grace, we come back under His protection and care.

We are praying with you for your younger daughter. We ask the Lord to cover her as she drives, studies and works in the lab, to give her wisdom, efficiency without overwork, and peace in her classes. We pray for her health and for relief from pain, and for God to guide her friendships and guard her heart from influences that leave her withdrawn and downcast. Give her discernment to step away from unhealthy friendships and to be built up by godly, respectful friends who honor her upbringing and her faith. We thank God for the respectful courtship you describe and pray that it will continue to be marked by purity, humility, respect for you and for every member of the family including her brother, and by a desire to honor the Lord. We pray she will continue to see her brother as a blessing and to keep a grateful and thankful heart toward God, toward you, and toward the home she was raised in.

We are also praying for your older daughter with deep compassion. Because we hold to the historic biblical ethic, we cannot ask God to bless a relationship that involves living together outside of marriage. Scripture presents marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that living together and sexual intimacy belong within that covenant. Living together outside of marriage is not marriage, and it does not reflect God's design for love and commitment. We pray instead that God will open her eyes to see the isolation, control and loss of self worth, joy, purpose and fellowship that this path has brought, including distance from family, friends and her church family and the exploitation of her finances. We ask Him to give her courage, wisdom and strength to step out of what is toxic and dishonest and manipulating, and to restore her freedom, honesty, self worth and love for God and family. We pray that any stubborn hold or ungodly influence over her will be broken and that she will again put her faith, family and God given responsibilities before this relationship.

For your son, we pray for God's abundant favor, protection, peace and joy, for calmness of mind, for growth in his ability to communicate, and for healing and breakthrough according to the Lord's perfect wisdom and love. We know that God is able to heal, and we also know that He does not heal every affliction in the same way or timing, but we trust Him as the good Father who has made your son His child and who will never leave him. We plead the blood of Jesus over him and over your whole household, asking for a hedge of protection and the full armor of God, and we claim the promise that no weapon formed against you shall prosper.

Your home is meant to know the oneness God describes when He says He is one, a compound unity where a family shares one heart in Him. Division, jealousy, disrespect and ingratitude break that unity. Scripture shows how hard it is to live in a morally polluted environment and not be touched by it, as was seen in the family that lingered in a corrupt city and bore the effects for generations. For that reason we pray that God will frustrate every scheme that seeks to divide, isolate and turn your children against each other and against you, and that He will block any attempt to lure your younger daughter away from the bright path He has for her or to use her finances or to draw her into the same pattern. We ask Him to surround your home with His peace that surpasses understanding and to restore love, honesty, respect and fellowship.

The way to restore a love that has grown cold is to return to the first works, to turn from coldness and aloofness and again build one another up, share openly, speak kindly and show tender care. Ask the Lord to help you and your daughters take those steps toward each other, with grace and truth, even as you set wise and loving boundaries against influences that encourage disrespect and division.

We pray that God will saturate your home with His presence, remove fear and confusion, and give everyone in your household strength, courage, wisdom and understanding for each challenge. May He keep your bond with your children unbreakable in Him, not by human effort alone but by His Spirit, and may He guide your younger daughter on His bright path wherever she goes, keeping her safe, satisfied and filled with His love and favor in the days ahead.
