Beloved of All
Your prayer has been heard and we join you in bringing your family before the Lord with thanksgiving for His mercy and with trust in His power to deliver and to restore.
We thank God with you for your younger daughter, for her studies, her work in the lab, and for the courtship you describe. We pray that the Lord will keep her under His protection as she drives and as she studies, that He will grant her health and strength, and bring healing according to His will, including relief from POTS and pain. We ask that He give her wisdom to work diligently without overworking herself, to keep a grateful and respectful heart toward you and toward her upbringing, and to continue to cherish her brother as a blessing. It is good to hear that this young man shows humility and kindness toward your son and respect toward you and your family, and we pray that the Lord will guide this courtship in purity, respect, understanding and truth, that it would be shaped by His Word and, if it be His will, be directed toward marriage as God has ordained it, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman where love is faithful and self giving.
We also lift up your son before Christ, who alone is our deliverance from evil and our adoption as sons and daughters. We pray that the Lord will grant him peace of mind, protection from distress, growth in his ability to communicate, and daily grace, and that He will surround him with love that sees him as fearfully and wonderfully made. May your home be filled with patience and joy that comes from knowing Christ.
For your older daughter we pray with special care and honesty. We cannot ask God to bless a relationship that involves living together outside of marriage, for Scripture teaches that this is not marriage and does not reflect His design for intimacy and commitment. Instead we pray that the Lord in His mercy will open her eyes to see where she is being isolated from family, from faithful friends and from her church, and where she is being dishonored and burdened financially and spiritually. We pray that God will give her courage, wisdom and knowledge to step out of what is controlling and dishonest, to seek counsel that is godly, to put her faith, her family and her purposeful work before this relationship, and to walk in freedom and self worth as a daughter of God. We pray also for the young man and his mother, not for harm to them but for their repentance and for the Lord to frustrate every plan that would lead your children into confusion, division or impurity, and to teach all involved to take responsibility for their own households before the Lord.
You have spoken of division, isolation, resentment and negative influences pressing on your home. Scripture warns us to mark those who cause divisions contrary to sound doctrine and to avoid their influence, for such patterns serve selfish desires and deceive the simple. We pray that God will give you and your daughters discernment to recognize friendships and influences that consistently leave your younger daughter withdrawn and downcast, and wisdom to step away from them gently but firmly. We pray that He will replace them with godly, pure friendships from her classes and community that will uplift her, respect her upbringing and encourage her faith. We ask that He guard your younger daughter from any scheme to lure her away from home into a living arrangement that would compromise her convictions, and that He keep her on the bright path of obedience, gratitude and peace.
We pray for your household, that God would remove fear, jealousy, chaos and disrespect, and restore fellowship, freedom, love and unity that surpasses understanding. May He strengthen the unbreakable bond between you and your children, restore love between sisters and between brother and sisters, and deepen your communion with Him through careful hearing of His Word, continual remembrance of it, fortitude in trial and freedom from worldly entanglements. For no single virtue alone is sufficient, but God forms the whole character as we abide in Christ.
We plead the blood of Christ over you and your children, trusting not in any ritual but in the finished work of Jesus who alone saves, who delivers from the curse and brings us into sonship by His Spirit. We ask for His hedge of protection, for His angels to guard you, for His full armor to shield you from every spiritual attack, word curse and work of darkness, and for His peace to reign in your home tonight, this week and in the days ahead.
May the God of peace bruise the works of the enemy under your feet, and may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you and your family. We continue to stand with you in prayer for healing, breakthrough, favor and restoration, giving all praise and glory to Jesus. Amen
