Beloved of All
Your prayers for your children and your household have been brought before the Lord with care and compassion, and we join you in lifting each of these burdens to Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have salvation and access to the Father.
We pray for your younger daughter. We ask the Lord to cover her with His protection as she drives, to give her wisdom and clarity in her studies and in her lab work, and to help her work diligently without harming her health. We ask Him to heal her body and bring relief from POTS and all pain according to His mercy, and to grant her peace, satisfaction and favor in her classes. For the question of moving, we pray God will give her clear eyes to count the cost, a content and grateful heart for the home and family where she has been blessed, and strength to stand firm and not be moved by pressure or persuasion. May the Lord surround her with pure and godly friendships from her classes and elsewhere, friendships that respect her upbringing and encourage her faith, and keep her from influences that leave her down, confused and uneasy. We also pray for her relationship with her brother. Your son is not a burden but a blessing, made in the image of God and precious to Him and to your family. We ask God to guard that bond and make it strong and unbreakable, and to keep her heart tender toward you, her siblings and the home where she was raised. For the young man she has begun to court, we pray that the Lord will guide them both in purity, respect and wisdom, that their conduct would honor God and honor your family, and that if it is His will, He would lead them in a path that looks toward marriage as God has ordained it, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, where love and life together belong.
We pray for your son whom you love so dearly. We ask Jesus to grant him peace of mind, to calm what torments him, to protect him from fear and confusion, and to bless the work of his hands and his voice. May the Lord give him daily strength, joy and progress without setback, and give you and all in your household wisdom, patience and understanding to care for him well. We thank God for the love your family has for him and pray that every member of your family would continue to see him as a gift from the Lord.
We pray with special urgency for your older daughter. We hear your ache over the relationship she is in, living together outside of marriage, and the isolation, control and financial exploitation you have described, along with the influence of this young man and his mother upon your family. Because we love you and we love her, we cannot ask God to bless a way of living that His Word calls us away from. Scripture teaches that living together outside of marriage is not marriage, and that sexual union and shared home belong within the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. Instead we pray that God in His mercy would open her eyes to see where this path is leading, that He would break every unhealthy hold and give her courage, wisdom and knowledge to step out of what is harming her. We pray that she would return to her faith, to her family and to the purposeful work God has given her, and that the Lord would restore her self worth, her honesty, her freedom and her joy. We pray that He would frustrate every scheme that seeks to divide your children from one another and from you, to lure your younger daughter away from home or to use finances for selfish gain, and that He would teach all involved to take responsibility for their own lives and households rather than overstepping into yours.
We pray for you and for your whole home. The true unity of a family is not only of blood but of love in Christ, for we are members of one another and we owe one another love. We ask God to fill your home with His peace that passes understanding, to remove division, jealousy, chaos and disrespect, and to clothe you all with the full armor He provides so you may stand firm against every spiritual attack. We ask Him to guard your hearts from fear, to give you strength and courage for each challenge, and to restore fellowship, respect, freedom and love among you. May He establish your younger daughter and your older daughter in gratitude, humility and obedience, and deepen the love between you and your daughters and between the sisters and their brother.
Be assured that nothing is impossible with God, and He sees every tear and hears every prayer offered in the name of Jesus. Continue to cast your cares upon Him, to seek His Word daily, and to walk in faithful prayer. May the Lord keep you and your children in His hedge of protection, guide every decision, and bring healing, breakthrough and lasting peace to your household in Christ.
