We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of gratitude for your earnest desire to walk in God’s will, to grow in wisdom, and to be protected from sin and evil. Your prayer is deeply aligned with Scripture, and we join with you in seeking the Lord’s guidance, strength, and discernment.
Heavenly Father, we lift up this prayer before You, asking that You would indeed fill us with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. May our love abound more and more in true knowledge and all discernment, so that we may approve the things that are excellent and be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ (Philippians 1:9-10). Lord, we long to walk in a manner worthy of You, fully pleasing You, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God (Colossians 1:9-10). Strengthen us with all power according to Your glorious might, so that we may have endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to You, Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light (Colossians 1:11-12).
We recognize that true wisdom comes from You alone, and we ask that You would generously give us wisdom, as You have promised to those who ask in faith (James 1:5). Lead us by Your Holy Spirit, for those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God (Romans 8:14). Restore our souls, O Lord, and guide us in the paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake (Psalm 23:3). Jesus, our Good Shepherd, we pray that You would speak to us, and that we would hear Your voice and follow You (John 10:4-5, 27).
Father, we thank You for the angels You have sent to minister to us, to guard and protect us in all our ways (Hebrews 1:14, Psalm 91:10-11). We ask that You would keep us from temptation and deliver us from evil, as Your Son taught us to pray (Matthew 6:13, Luke 11:4). Guard our hearts and minds from sin, lies, and fear, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Let us do no wrong, but rather let us walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us (1 Corinthians 16:9, Ephesians 5:2).
We agree with Jesus’ prayer in John 17:15, that while we are in this world, You would keep us from the evil one. Protect us from evil people who do not know You, and grant us the grace to shine as lights in a dark world (2 Thessalonians 3:2, Philippians 2:15). We thank You in advance for Your faithfulness, believing that whatever we ask in Jesus’ name, You will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son (John 14:13-14, Mark 11:24).
Lord, we also want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of coming to You in the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). It is through Jesus alone that we have access to the Father, and it is by His blood that we are forgiven and made righteous (Ephesians 2:18, Romans 5:9). If anyone reading this does not yet know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, we pray that they would turn to Him today, confessing their sins and believing in His death and resurrection for their salvation (Romans 10:9-10). Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6).
May we all grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.
