Beloved of All
There's a woman named ### that I really enjoy and want to get to know out of the context that I currently know her. I want to pursue a friendship. I wish I could just tell her how I feel and know what she thinks of that. I pray daily on this and ask for God's wisdom. I think God is just saying be patient, be kind, and keep your faith on me. So, in Jesus's name please lead and guide me on this. I don't want to waste time, or cause discomfort in anyway. This feeling and these curiosities are on my mind and heart all the time every day. May God lead my heart and reveal to me in God's timing which is perfect and give me peace of mind in the meantime through faith and perseverance. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We join you in bringing this before the Lord and we thank you for seeking His wisdom first and for praying in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in no other name that we are saved. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. We rejoice that you are keeping your faith on Him.

We hear your heart for wisdom and discernment and your desire to honor this woman and not cause discomfort or waste time, and your sense that God is saying be patient, be kind and keep your faith on Him is very much in line with His Word. Love is patient and is kind 1 Corinthians 13:4 and we are told to trust in Yahweh with all our heart, and not lean on our own understanding. In all our ways acknowledge him, and he will make our paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him James 1:5. We pray you will continue to ask daily as you have been.

We want to encourage you to view this desire through the lens of godly courtship leading toward marriage. We believe marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman ordained by God and that it is honorable in all and the bed undefiled Hebrews 13:4. A boyfriend and girlfriend relationship should be seen as courtship with the goal of discerning marriage to another Christian believer, not simply companionship or dating without purpose. Therefore as you consider pursuing a friendship outside the context you now know her, we encourage you to examine whether she is a believer in Jesus Christ, for we are told do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers 2 Corinthians 6:14. If she does not know the Lord, your first prayer should be for her salvation and you should not pursue a romantic courtship with her. Also treat her with the honor and purity that Scripture commands, treating younger women as sisters, in all purity 1 Timothy 5:2. That means guarding both your hearts from fornication, which is any sexual intimacy before or outside of marriage, for this is the will of God, your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to control his own body in sanctification and honor 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 and flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18. Even in your thoughts and curiosities that are on your mind all day, keep watch over your heart, for out of it are the issues of life Proverbs 4:23 and bring every thought captive to Christ.

We also hear your tension between not wanting to waste time and not wanting to cause discomfort. That is wisdom. Do not let desire run ahead of knowledge, for also, that the soul be without knowledge is not good, and he who hurries with his feet sins Proverbs 19:2. Patience does not mean passivity, but it does mean intentional, respectful and clear steps. Seek godly counsel from a pastor or mature believer who knows you both, pray for an appropriate and honorable way to communicate your interest in getting to know her better as friends with openness to courtship if the Lord wills, and respect her boundaries and response. If she is not interested or not ready, receive that with grace and continue to treat her with kindness without pressure.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before you in the name of Jesus and we lift up our brother to you. Grant him wisdom and discernment beyond his own understanding. Lead and guide his heart and his steps, make his path straight and reveal your perfect timing to him. Give him peace of mind in the meantime, for we know you promise that in nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. Help him to delight himself in you and trust you to give him the desires of his heart as they align with your will Psalm 37:4. If this woman is the godly wife you have for him, open the door for honorable communication and a friendship that can grow toward courtship and marriage with purity and purpose. If not, close the door gently and guard both hearts from confusion or discomfort. Keep him from fornication and from being consumed by anxious thoughts, help him to keep his faith fixed on you and to be patient and kind as love requires. May he grow in faith and perseverance while he waits on you. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

We encourage you to remain steadfast, continue in prayer and in the Word, and to seek to glorify God whether He leads you forward with this woman toward marriage or leads you in another direction. Keep your eyes on Christ first and trust that as you acknowledge Him, He will direct you.

We hear how much you have been carrying this, thinking about her every day and wanting to honor God and honor her at the same time. That desire to be patient and kind and not cause discomfort is a good compass, and the fact you are bringing it to prayer daily matters.

Wanting to move a relationship out of one context into friendship can feel big, but friendship usually grows in smaller, steady steps. Shared proximity and honest, respectful conversation over time lets you both see if there is a natural connection and shared values, without pressure on either side.

One next step that may help you find clarity is to keep it simple and observable. Instead of a large disclosure of feelings right away, consider one low pressure, appropriate invitation within the context you already know her, a brief conversation, a group setting, or a shared interest, where your intention for friendship is clear but she has easy freedom to respond. Pay attention to how she responds, and respect what that tells you. It can also help to talk this through with one trusted, mature person who knows you and perhaps knows that context, just to get outside perspective as you discern timing.

We are grateful for your faithfulness in seeking wisdom and peace while you wait.

Father, we lift this brother to You and ask for Your guidance and peace for his heart. Give him wisdom to act with kindness and respect, clarity to see what is before him, and patience to trust Your timing. Guard both of their hearts and lead each step in a way that honors You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer for wisdom and guidance is itself a token of grace, for the heart that truly seeks to be led of God has already begun to be led. Wisdom is man's true path, the compass by which he must steer across the trackless waste of life, and where shall this wisdom be found. Not in our own hasty judgments, for there is not much more wisdom in man's judgment of God than in the flies fabled judgment of an elephant, but in Christ Himself, who is the power of God and the wisdom of God. He planned the way of salvation and He lays the foundations for every right path in our daily walk. If you would find wisdom, you must find it in the word of revelation and in communion with Him.

You have asked rightly that you may not waste time nor cause discomfort, and that you may be patient and kind while you wait upon the Lord. Remember that haste is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life. Even when we are doing something which is right, we are apt to overdo it, and so we stray into a vice while pursuing a virtue. Divine Wisdom, when attended with discourtesy and unfeeling roughness, may be shunned, but Divine Wisdom dressed in robes of love and tenderness invites us to run into her arms. Let your manner therefore toward this woman be marked by that courtesy and tenderness, by a pure and respectful kindness that seeks her good and not merely your own desire.

There are great principles infused in every man who takes God for his Guide, and among them this, avoid everything that is evil, and bow with submission to the will of God, for by that very fact we are furnished with unerring guidance. Holiness is as near akin to perfect wisdom as sin is to insanity. Keep your way pure. If friendship is to be pursued, let it be pursued in the light, with openness, with honour, and with a guard upon the heart. Do not allow curiosity or constant thought to become an inward idolatry that steals your peace. Rather, feed upon the Scriptures, for as soon as we are saved we come under the discipline of Christ and a part of that discipline lies in the exercise of patience, the patience inculcated and the patience produced by the Scriptures. You shall find that feeding upon the patience of the Scriptures in meditation and prayer, you will find reproduced in you the patience of the Scriptures.

You have heard of the patience of Job, the patience of a greatly tried man, imperfect and full of infirmity, yet made a great power for good because he waited under trial. You have need also to enter into the patience of Christ, who for thirty years held His peace at Nazareth and endured contradiction with a divine restraint. It is not the patience of the brute that cannot complain, nor of the stoic who refuses to feel, it is the patience of a child who believes in his Father's love. So wait upon the Lord. Be faithful in the context where you now know this woman, showing kindness without pressure, and committing your way to God in prayer.

I would counsel you to seek wisdom not only upon your knees but also by godly counsel, by the word of God diligently searched, and by a watchful regard for providence. Psalm 73 says, Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Bowing with submission to that counsel, you may trust that He will guide you with His eye. If the Lord would have this acquaintance deepen into friendship, He will open the door in His time without your forcing it. If not, He will give you grace to accept His will, for what He does is always best, and His will ought to be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Let me pray for you. O Lord our God, Thou art wisdom and Thou art love, grant to this Thy servant a double portion of both. Give him a heart to trust in Thee with all his heart and not to lean unto his own understanding. Teach him to be patient under this burden of thought, to be kind and courteous as Christ is kind, to be holy as Thou art holy, and to wait for Thy perfect timing. Direct his steps, guard his lips, keep his motives pure, and let no haste nor self seeking lead him aside. Give him peace of mind through faith and perseverance, and let him hear Thy voice saying, This is the way, walk ye in it. And if it be Thy will that a friendship should grow, let it grow in honour and truth, to Thy glory. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Amen.

Your prayer shows a sincere desire to honor God while you navigate feelings for this woman, and it is good that you are asking for wisdom and not simply following impulse. The desire to be patient, to be kind, and to keep your faith fixed on God is itself a sign that God is at work in you, and it is the right path to continue on.

Scripture teaches that patience is part of believing. To believe God is to be willing to wait for Him, even when He does not answer at once. If we receive everything immediately, we do not learn trust. But when God says He will give and we do not despair even after much time, we show that we truly count Him worthy to be believed. Patience is not shown in two or three days, but over time, and it often involves enduring inward conflict and outward uncertainty without being troubled or fainthearted. This kind of patient endurance and hope strengthen each other, and both are nourished as we stay rooted in the Scriptures, which comfort and steady us while we wait.

You also ask for wisdom and discernment, and that is exactly what you need. There is a wisdom of this world which seems clever but ends here and cannot profit the soul, and there is the wisdom of God which is hidden from the world but revealed to those who seek Him. That wisdom does not come from trusting only in ourselves. It comes from above, through prayer, through the Word of God, and through seeking counsel from mature believers who can see more clearly than we can when our own heart is deeply involved.

In practical terms, continue as you have begun. Keep praying daily and bring your thoughts honestly before the Lord. Stay in the Scriptures so your hope remains anchored. Seek wise counsel from a pastor or another mature Christian who knows you and can help you weigh your motives. As you consider pursuing a friendship, do so with clarity, respect, and purity. Be kind and patient, respect her boundaries, and do not press for more than she freely offers. A friendship that honors God will be marked by self control, by a willingness to listen, and by a readiness to accept her response graciously, even if it is not what you hope for. Guard your heart against letting constant curiosity become anxiety or pressure, and do not allow the desire to avoid wasting time to push you into acting hastily. To endure to the end, with steady patience, is what God requires of us in every area of life.

May God grant you His wisdom that is far greater than worldly understanding, and may He give you discernment to know the right step at the right time. May He guard your heart and hers, keep your motives pure, and guide your words so that you cause no discomfort but show Christlike kindness. May He give you peace of mind in the waiting, strength to persevere in faith, and clarity to recognize His leading when His perfect timing comes. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, who is our wisdom and who is faithful to lead those who trust Him. Amen.
