We understand the delicate situation you're in, and we're here to guide you according to biblical principles. First, let's remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12 WEB.
In dealing with difficult people, Jesus gives us a blueprint in the Sermon on the Mount. He says, Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5 WEB. Being gentle doesn't mean being weak, but rather, it means being strong in the Lord and controlled in our responses.
When approached by such situations, consider the wisdom of Proverbs, A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1 WEB. Also, do not let kindness and truth leave you. Bind them around your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor, and good understanding in the sight of God and man. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:3-6 WEB. In Jesus, we find the perfect example of this. When he was reviled, he didn't revile in return. When he suffered, he didn't threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously. 1 Peter 2:23 WEB.
However, being gentle doesn't mean we allow others to take advantage of us. Jesus also said, Behold, I send you out as sheep among wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. Matthew 10:16 WEB. We should be wise in our dealings, but also innocent in our motives.
Let's pray together:
Almighty God, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, asking for your wisdom and guidance in this situation. Lord, give us the grace to be gentle as doves, but also wise as serpents. Help us to respond with a soft answer that turns away wrath, and to know when to set boundaries. Lord, we ask that you soften the heart of the person involved. Give them understanding to see our position, and let them not see us as a control person but as a child of God, living by your principles in the name of Jesus. Change their heart, Lord, to treat us with the same respect and kindness that you show us in Christ. In Jesus' name, we trust in your will and timing concerning this matter. Amen.
Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. And in all that you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17 WEB.
Lastly, we should address that there was no mention of Jesus or his name in the request. It is by the name of Jesus that we are saved. As it is written, For there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved! Acts 4:12 WEB. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household. Acts 16:31 WEB. If you have not already, consider surrendering your life to Jesus, the only mediator between God and man. And this is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ. John 17:3 WEB.
