Wife Thyroid Biopsy
We join with you in lifting up your beloved wife before the throne of grace, and we thank you for standing faithfully beside her in this frightening emergency. We are praying for her voice, for healing in her thyroid, and for peace as you both wait for answers after the biopsies taken from her left thyroid.
We know how concerning hoarseness can be after a thyroid biopsy, and we are grateful you sought emergency care quickly. We pray for wisdom and skill for the doctors and nurses caring for her right now, and for clear answers about what has happened to her vocal cords and nerves. We also pray for favor over the biopsy results, that they would show no cancer or serious disease, and for complete restoration of her health.
We love that you shared she is a believer in Christ Jesus. It is only through His name that we have confident access to the Father and assurance of His care for us. We rest in the promise of Psalm 103:2-3, Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don't forget all his benefits; who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases. And we cling to Jeremiah 30:17, For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh.
Her voice is such a vital tool as a school teacher, and we understand the added burden of having just started a new job. God sees her diligence and her desire to serve her students, and He sees your love for her as her husband. Marriage is a precious gift from God, and your intercession for your wife reflects Christ's love for the church. We pray God will protect her employment during this trial and provide grace with her school as she recovers.
In this time of waiting and worry, we pray God will guard your hearts from fear. Isaiah 41:10 reminds us, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. And Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear wife and sister in Christ to You. Lord, You know her body intimately, every part of her thyroid and every fiber of her vocal cords. We ask You to touch her throat and restore her voice completely. Ease any swelling, inflammation, or injury from the biopsy, and let her speak clearly again without pain or hoarseness. We pray for Your healing hand upon her thyroid, that the biopsy results would be benign and that no further treatment would be needed. Guide the physicians with wisdom and discernment in the emergency department and in reading her results. Give this husband and wife Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding as they wait, and strengthen their faith and their marriage through this trial. Provide for her needs at her new job, and let her be able to return to her classroom to teach with joy and strength. We trust You as our healer and our refuge, for You are our ever present help in trouble as Psalm 46:1 declares. We ask all these things in the saving and healing name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

While you wait, it can help to have a small notepad handy to write down what the doctors say, what they recommend for next steps, and any follow up they want you to arrange. That way you don't have to try to remember everything in the moment. Helping her rest her voice as much as possible and letting her school know she may need some temporary support can also take a little pressure off while you wait for answers.

Beloved of All
Your request concerning your wife has been brought before the Lord with earnest prayer and deep sympathy. To learn that she has endured a biopsy on each side of the left thyroid, and now suffers hoarseness that has led you to the emergency, touches our hearts, especially as she is a faithful believer, a school teacher whose voice is her daily instrument, and has just begun a new labor.
We are reminded of the word spoken to Job, Will he plead against me with his great power, No, but he will put strength in me. In this hour of waiting and fear, that promise stands. The same power which you fear in the trial is the power which will sustain you both. The Lord does not delight to contend with His children, but to impart His own strength to them when they have none.
Hear also the gracious word so often repeated in Scripture, Fear not, I will help thee. Fear not, for I am with thee. It is not merely a preacher who says Fear not, but Jesus Himself who whispers it to His servants when they fall down as dead at His feet. To be afraid in such a moment dishonors not your love but forgets His faithfulness. The arm that piled the heavens and sustains the pillars of the earth is not palsied, and it is that arm which holds your wife this very hour.
We take comfort too that the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and that the least thing about Christ is healing. His fruit is sweet and nourishing, but even His leaves, His gentlest touches, bring healing virtue. That healing flows from the great Head to those below, changing the life blood and making the nature other than it was before. Whether by His immediate hand or by the wisdom He gives to physicians, all healing is of the Lord.

O Lord our God, Father of mercies, Thou hast heard the voice of Thy servant and his beloved wife. Thou knowest her frame, Thou hast numbered her days, and not a pain nor a fear escapes Thine eye. We bring before Thy throne this dear sister in Christ, a teacher called to speak Thy truth and daily grace to others. Lay Thy healing hand upon her throat and upon her thyroid. If it be Thy will, cause this hoarseness to pass away, restore her voice fully, and let no injury remain from the biopsy. Guide the hands and minds of those who examine her in the emergency, and give skill and discernment to those who shall read the results. We ask, gracious Father, that the report may be favorable and that no malignancy may be found, but we submit all to Thy wise and loving sovereignty. Keep her heart from fear, put Thy strength within her, and let her prove that in all this she may be kept from charging Thee foolishly, but rather trusting Thee as Job did. Sustain her husband who watches and intercedes, give him peace that passeth understanding, and provide for every need concerning her new labor, that she may continue to serve Thee in her calling. All this we ask in the name and merits of Jesus Christ our Lord, the Sun of Righteousness who rises with healing in His wings. Amen.
