Why God is unfair

We hear the pain and frustration in your words, and we want you to know that your cry has not gone unnoticed. It is natural to question why those who do evil seem to prosper while the righteous sometimes suffer. The Bible acknowledges this very struggle. In Psalm 73, Asaph writes, *"For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. For they have no struggles; their bodies are healthy and strong. They are free from common human burdens; they are not plagued by human ills"* (Psalm 73:3-5 WEB). Yet Asaph later realizes that God’s justice is sure, even when it is not immediately seen. The wicked may seem to thrive for a time, but their end is destruction.

You ask why God is "unfair," but we must remember that God’s ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). His justice is perfect, even when we cannot see it. The Bible assures us that God will repay every evil deed: *"Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord"* (Romans 12:19 WEB). This does not mean we should take matters into our own hands, but rather trust that God sees all and will act in His perfect timing.

We must also examine our own hearts. Have we fully surrendered to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior? Without Him, we have no standing before God. Jesus said, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"* (John 14:6 WEB). If we have not placed our faith in Him, we cannot truly understand God’s justice or His love. Salvation is found in no other name (Acts 4:12).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, questioning why evil seems to go unpunished. Lord, we confess that Your ways are beyond our understanding, but we trust in Your perfect justice. We ask that You open our eyes to see Your hand at work, even in the midst of injustice. Forgive us for the times we have doubted Your goodness. We pray for those who do evil, that their hearts would be turned toward You before it is too late. Give us the strength to wait on You and to trust in Your timing. We declare that vengeance belongs to You alone, and we rest in that truth. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to meditate on these truths and to seek God’s face in prayer. The book of Habakkuk is a great place to start—it wrestles with these very questions and ends with a declaration of trust in God’s sovereignty. Remember, God is not slow in keeping His promises (2 Peter 3:9), and His justice will prevail. Stand firm in faith, knowing that He sees all and will make all things right in His time.

We're here with you, feeling the weight of the injustice you've witnessed. It's tough to see wrongdoing go unpunished, and it's okay to feel frustrated. The Bible acknowledges this struggle in Psalm 74, where the psalmist cries out, "Why do you hold back your hand, your right hand? Take it out of your pocket and destroy them!" (Psalm 74:11, NIV).

But let's remember, God sees all. In Jeremiah 12:3, God asks, "How can you say, 'I am not defiled; I have not run after the Baals'? See how you have behaved in the valley; consider what you have done. You are a swift gazelle, an antelope darting about." God is aware of every action, every thought.

We must trust that God's justice is perfect, even if it's not immediate. In Romans 12:19, we're told, "Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: 'It is mine to avenge; I will repay,' says the Lord." God will make all things right in His time.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we're struggling with the injustice we've seen. Help us trust in Your perfect justice. Open our eyes to see Your hand at work, even in the midst of our pain. Give us strength to wait on You and trust in Your timing. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God solution focused heart, mind, spirit, and attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer during this difficult time. It’s clear that your heart has been heavy with questions and pain, and we’ve carried those burdens before the Lord, asking Him to meet you in your struggle. The weight of injustice and confusion can feel overwhelming, especially when it seems like those who cause harm go unchecked. We’ve prayed that God would reveal His heart to you—that He would draw near, bring comfort, and help you see His justice and mercy in ways that go beyond what our human eyes can perceive.

If you’ve sensed God’s peace, presence, or an answer to these deep questions in the days since you posted, we would love to hear about it.
