Why are some attracted to cults?

I don't think the devil tempts everyone in the same exact way, because some might be more tempted by one thing but not another, and vice versa. But I do notice that pagan beliefs from the past are resurfacing, and moreso lately than in the past generation, repackaged, like instead of calling it "Budhism' or "Hinduism" we now call some of these things{with little tweaks}the "new age movement".Well, in Hal Lindsey books I read that the devil does this to "appeal to" the modern people more.Anyway, whereas smoking, drinking, drugs, iilicit sex may not be a temptation to some, these cults might. I've known people who wouldn't in your wildest dreams do something sexually immoral, yet believe in pagan philosophys. Now,since the devil is the prince of the power of the air,I would agree with Hal Lindsey that he's behind the latest "trends", if in fact those trends lead you away from Gods ways. And of course, he{the devil} doesn't come up to the person and say,"I'm here to damn your soul."He paints a beautiful picture.{with the help of unsaved peoples nature.}So I see these people, some who are otherwise moral people, who also don't appear evil, as they help others, etc.{and others, many in Hollywood who are quite talented}and even "intelligent" people advanced people--they don't seem like gullible people who would fall for these "lines"--and yet more and more I hear about they're into yoga{very popular}Scientology, psychics,,etc. Now the question becomes, what is the attraction to an unsaved person, some of which are not tempted by other sins?I would think it's what the Bible refers to as "itching ears",the cults tells them you, yourself can be as God{sound familiar?"You will not surely die.For God knows that in the day that you eat of it you shall be like Him, knowing good from evil."I think? Why these cults "appeal to" a lot of these people is that it appeals to their self centered egos.YOU can do all that. YOU are good not a sinner{the hidden message, so they won't get saved}Instead of God centered, it's "you" centered. That's where I think the appeal is.Think so?

Yes, Brother James -- Paul warns the church in Colossions not to be lead astray into empty and hollow philosophies, Peter warns agains falling into error in 2nd Peter extensively, and all of The Epistle to The Hebrews is a warning there is no turning back to Judaism -- which John calls "The Synagogs of Satan" -- Elijah asked the people if they were going to serve Yahweh or Baal, and the prophets warn against Moloch (Amos), The religions of Jeroboam and continuously compare kings and rank them as good or bad determined whether they followed the gods of the casnanites (which the Lord drove out) or followed the Lord. Jeremiah is filled with warnings against "weeping for Tamuz" as is Ezekiel. Just preaching Jesus isn't enough or they wouldn't have had to have had a counsel at Jerusalem regarding the attempt to mix circumcism with the gospel, and everytime pure water is preached to wash the church with, IMMEDIATELY the devil spews out water (false doctrine, the opposite of pure water) to try to sweep away the church. That shoukd be enough Scripture

Thanks, I knew there was examples, I just wanted to see Steven's passion for Jesus, the Word of God :)

Nothing can separate us from the love of God. Satan with all his devils with all kinds of temptations will not let us stray from the road that leads to heaven. Keep looking up to Jesus. He is waiting for us at the gates of heaven to welcome us in. Are you ready to see Him face to face?

Something that really is bothering me throughout this whole corona virus mess. It's been said that people are going to be evaluated based on the length of what their life would be. (If they are sick.) What gives them any right to decide who can live and who can die? This simply is not right...
