Why are some attracted to cults?

I don't think the devil tempts everyone in the same exact way, because some might be more tempted by one thing but not another, and vice versa. But I do notice that pagan beliefs from the past are resurfacing, and moreso lately than in the past generation, repackaged, like instead of calling it "Buddhism" or "Hinduism" we now call some of these things {with little tweaks} the "new age movement." Well, in Hal Lindsey books I read that the devil does this to "appeal to" the modern people more.

Anyways, whereas smoking, drinking, drugs, illicit sex may not be a temptation to some, these cults might. I've known people who wouldn't in your wildest dreams do something sexually immoral, yet believe in pagan philosophies. Now, since the devil is the prince of the power of the air, I would agree with Hal Lindsey that he's behind the latest "trends," if in fact those trends lead you away from God's ways. And of course, he {the devil} doesn't come up to the person and say, "I'm here to damn your soul." He paints a beautiful picture {with the help of unsaved people's nature}.

So I see these people, some who are otherwise moral people, who also don't appear evil, as they help others, etc. {and others, many in Hollywood who are quite talented} and even "intelligent" people advanced people--they don't seem like gullible people who would fall for these "lines"--and yet more and more I hear about they're into yoga {very popular}, Scientology, psychics, etc.

Now the question becomes, what is the attraction to an unsaved person, some of which are not tempted by other sins? I would think it's what the Bible refers to as "itching ears," the cults tell them you, yourself can be as God {sound familiar?} "You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day that you eat of it you shall be like Him, knowing good from evil." I think?

Why these cults "appeal to" a lot of these people is that it appeals to their self-centered egos. YOU can do all that. YOU are good, not a sinner {the hidden message, so they won't get saved} Instead of God-centered, it's "you" centered. That's where I think the appeal is.

Think so?

Do you not have an Amen for ###'s beautiful prayer she posted that could save you from cultic activities?
Not bragging, but even before salvation, although some of my loved ones were into mediums, etc. it wasn't a temptation for me. I just replied according to my meaning in the post.

I think you're missing my point. I understand that, that if they're chosen from the beginning, it won't prevent them from getting saved. And I know there have been drug addicts, murderers, devil worshippers, etc. who became saved. That wasn't a concern for me. I just was mentioning why I think these cults have an appeal to the fallen nature.

Could you show me where in the Bible that we are instructed to think about why anyone would be tempted to join a cult and lift up the ways of the devil?

Look, that's what blogs are. If you have such objections to each and every thing I do, don't read it. I don't see many others objecting, and some even agreed that I have a point, or "liked" it. You seem to have a problem with me.

Cults are dangerous to everyone who approaches them. It may cause harm to many and they do not ever realize the harm that will bring to themselves and to their family members. They use Satan's tactics to make them believe what they say. ### used these devilish tactics as well as the moonies. They pick the right target to make them believe in what they are preaching and teaching. There comes love bombing all around you. They will flood you with flattery, affection, and validation. They make you feel so special and unique so you will join them and be accepted by everyone. All cultists work so hard to isolate you from everyone else and make you believe whatever they are telling you. Then, they keep control over your life and whatever you do or say. Stay away from them. Satan's long arms will harm you and everyone else who joins them.
I agree

Lift up Jesus and He will protect you and everyone you love from the snares of satan and from all kinds of cults that have risen up like mushrooms. Satans last days are approaching and he is sending all kinds of cults to entice and make Christians turn from their way that leads to heaven. Do not let him do this to you or to anyone else. Cast out satan out of your room and of your heart and you will be delivered from his hands.

I don't see why you want to lift up the practices of satan ### but if you do I'm going to lift up Jesus and that Jesus defeated satan my friend :)

The devil has lost and he is defeated by Jesus my friend :)
Not to the ones who don't accept salvation."And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire".And not that I like always having to explain my meaning to you, but how am I "lifting up"Satans deceptions if I admitted those people were misled? If I was hyping up the devil, wouldn't I have said,"the cults are great. Better then Gods way."But I said another form of DECEPTION,NOT "praise the cults".Your style and mine are different--you have this idea that not admitting something makes it as if it doesn't exist.{I'll use the "O word" again, an ostrich.}So because someones style is different than yours, that's a reason to throw barbs at them?

I didn't throw barbs at you ###. I just don't notice you praying for these people that you mention nor for their salvation ### nor do you even mention Jesus at all my friend. Jesus is the Name of names in our language and the Name Jesus gives us great power and authority over every evil spirit and evil authority ### :)

I think maybe you are a great authority of the ostrich because you seem to know everything about an ostrich as if you are one my friend :)

You notice and don't notice. And you're with me 24 hours a day, every day?
