Why are some attracted to cults?

I don't think the devil tempts everyone in the same exact way, because some might be more tempted by one thing but not another, and vice versa. But I do notice that pagan beliefs from the past are resurfacing, and moreso lately than in the past generation, repackaged, like instead of calling it "Budhism' or "Hinduism" we now call some of these things{with little tweaks}the "new age movement".Well, in Hal Lindsey books I read that the devil does this to "appeal to" the modern people more.Anyway, whereas smoking, drinking, drugs, iilicit sex may not be a temptation to some, these cults might. I've known people who wouldn't in your wildest dreams do something sexually immoral, yet believe in pagan philosophys. Now,since the devil is the prince of the power of the air,I would agree with Hal Lindsey that he's behind the latest "trends", if in fact those trends lead you away from Gods ways. And of course, he{the devil} doesn't come up to the person and say,"I'm here to damn your soul."He paints a beautiful picture.{with the help of unsaved peoples nature.}So I see these people, some who are otherwise moral people, who also don't appear evil, as they help others, etc.{and others, many in Hollywood who are quite talented}and even "intelligent" people advanced people--they don't seem like gullible people who would fall for these "lines"--and yet more and more I hear about they're into yoga{very popular}Scientology, psychics,,etc. Now the question becomes, what is the attraction to an unsaved person, some of which are not tempted by other sins?I would think it's what the Bible refers to as "itching ears",the cults tells them you, yourself can be as God{sound familiar?"You will not surely die.For God knows that in the day that you eat of it you shall be like Him, knowing good from evil."I think? Why these cults "appeal to" a lot of these people is that it appeals to their self centered egos.YOU can do all that. YOU are good not a sinner{the hidden message, so they won't get saved}Instead of God centered, it's "you" centered. That's where I think the appeal is.Think so?

You notice and don't notice. And you're with me 24 hours a day, every day?

Lol, are you telling me that you always mention Jesus in all of your posts that you put on here? Jesus is the only One that can bless you to sleep till noon, get to work by 1, take an hour for lunch and then be done by 2 with your day but you don't seem to really ask Jesus for that on here or do you? :)

Once again, are you with me 24 hours a day, to know when I mention Jesus?Have you been with me every minute of my life/Do you count the times you didn't hear what I say?John 3;16 states,"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that all whosoever believe in Him should not die but have eternal life'. Show me where it says passing the Brother James test is the criterion for salvation. Also says,GOD knows the heart. So by you implying that I'm a false Christian, aren't you overstepping your bounds?

My oh my, you make me laugh Steven. I didn't say you don't mention Jesus when you aren't on here. You shared a very nice verse though, should not die, hmm. I do love you Steven. I honestly just try to get you to question your own salvation Steven.

God Got You….

Let Us Pray: God I ask You in Jesus’ name in spite of what I am going through, in spite of what I am facing or will face, in spite of all the evil, jealousy, prejudice, turmoil, chaos, unfairness, misunderstanding, users, liars, and hypocrites around me, I will not fear, act ungodly, or lean to my own understanding. God do a work in my heart, mind, and body that I will always place my focus on You, have faith in You, and trust in Your love, Your protection, provision, and the way of escape You have already made for me. God help me, make me always keep my focus on You, stand on the promises of God, and know that all things are working together for my good. God all that I have asked of You in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, and every Christian that I know. Thank You Jesus, Amen, so be it!
Amen~ Beautiful prayer!

I could ask questions of you, too. Like, which comes first, your acceptance of Gods will or the "ego trip" of proving I'm a false Christian?Meaning,if you see me in Heaven, meaning it was Gods decision for me to be there, will you accept Gods decision, or will your ego be hurt because your suspicions that I was a false Christian were wrong, and you'd throw a tantrum and petition God,"Not THIS guy?You can't let him in!!It undermines what I suspected about him being a false Christian!!Which will win out--your obedience to Gods will, or your obsession to prove I was a false Christian??Will you bring your fued with me to the other side?

Steven I would be extremely happy, overly happy to see you in Heaven my friend! I would be extremely happy to see you lifting up Jesus on here my friend! I would be extremely happy to see you counting everything that happens to you and for you as joy my friend! I would be extremely happy to see you loving everyone with the love of Jesus my friend!

You don't have to get me wrong, I am your brother and I truly care about you Steven with the care and concern of the Holy Spirit! We are to question ourselves more so than others! We are to love and care for others as ourselves Steven! If we aren't doing those things than yes we should question our salvation :)

And of course you're the one who makes that final decision, right?And while you do that, do you include yourself?Are you as tough on yourself as on others,have you looked at your own salvation?Or do you think you reached a point of perfection where you don't need to anymore?"If we say we have no sin ,we are lying, and the truth is not in us".{And there wasn't an asterisk next to that that said,"Unless your name is Brother James."}

Are you teasing me? Yes, at times I give myself a hard time Steven as none of us are perfect Christians. I am weak but Jesus is strong in me! I am the worst of sinners but Jesus forgives me and Jesus loves me so I in turn forgive and love others with the same love and forgiveness Jesus gives and shows me. If you only knew how blessed you could be if you forced yourself to give up on your thoughts for yourself and only thought on what and how Jesus thinks towards you. If only we all could learn to force ourselves to count the worst of things as great joy or just simply as joy, how joyous we could be my friends :)

I said my friends because there is a great many who read our posts that we know not of yet they are all my friends! If you only knew the peace that I have trusting Jesus to think for me. Is not the Creators thoughts for us much more important than our thoughts for ourselves? Our Creator's thoughts for me, for us as a whole, brothers and sisters is that we own the whole world and everything in it, yet do we trust His Thoughts for us? I sure do, what am I going to do with the world? I work on others to see their rewards for following all of Jesus' Instructions, people like you Steven and really at the end of the day guess what, I still own the world and I still want to bless others :)

I love you all my friends! Be at peace hidden in Jesus, sleep till noon, get to work by 1, take an hour for lunch and then get done at 2 if you really want to, me, I'm going to work while the harvest is ready and it really isn't hard work and it doesn't even feel like work, do you suppose Jesus is doing the work through me? I know Jesus is, Thank You, Praise You Lord Jesus! Glory to You Lord Jesus!

Am I lifting up the devil and his ways or am I lifting up Jesus, His Power, His Promises and His Ways is a good question to ask ourselves. The devil is a defeated foe and he is no longer the prince of the power of the air. If there are children that the Father gave to Jesus in those things they will be set free and removed from the liars den and transformed into the Kingdom of Christ Jesus for Jesus will not lose a one, not one soul that the Father gave Him. In the beginning of the Bible the devil planted his seed in Eve by her falling for satan's lies yet God's seed was already there so I ask you this, will satan's seed ever truly accept all of God's instructions in order to truly follow Him to the end of their lives here or do they belong to satan as his seed and will they look for reasons not to follow Christ's teachings?

In the middle ages, the devil had sermons preached in Latin (which people didn't understand) and brought in fantasys (prayer to Mary, prayer to saints, indulgences to pay for sins or others sins.

Secular humanism has destroyed even the basic Christian's faith in the Bible creating man in God's image, and now secular education is teaching pluralism.

I say that to say if all were sitting under good, solid teaching of the Scriptures (like a Calvary Chapel or other well-founded ministry) and reading their Bibles through, they might have a 50-70% chance of not being lead astray.

But the masses, who get their opinion from Television news and reality shows, is drifting farther into deception, and that deception is almost always mixed with other sins.

Sexual immorality is on the rise, and only a praying, fasting and Scriptural reformation can turn it at this point.

Yes, Brother James -- Paul warns the church in Colossions not to be lead astray into empty and hollow philosophies, Peter warns agains falling into error in 2nd Peter extensively, and all of The Epistle to The Hebrews is a warning there is no turning back to Judaism -- which John calls "The Synagogs of Satan" -- Elijah asked the people if they were going to serve Yahweh or Baal, and the prophets warn against Moloch (Amos), The religions of Jeroboam and continuously compare kings and rank them as good or bad determined whether they followed the gods of the casnanites (which the Lord drove out) or followed the Lord. Jeremiah is filled with warnings against "weeping for Tamuz" as is Ezekiel. Just preaching Jesus isn't enough or they wouldn't have had to have had a counsel at Jerusalem regarding the attempt to mix circumcism with the gospel, and everytime pure water is preached to wash the church with, IMMEDIATELY the devil spews out water (false doctrine, the opposite of pure water) to try to sweep away the church. That shoukd be enough Scripture

Could you show me where in the Bible that we are instructed to think about why anyone would be tempted to join a cult and lift up the ways of the devil?

Something that really is bothering me throughout this whole corona virus mess. It's been said that people are going to be evaluated based on the length of what their life would be. (If they are sick.) What gives them any right to decide who can live and who can die? This simply is not right...
