Which wins out?

We read that God is the same yesterday today and tomorrow. We also read about God's timetable. So to weigh them together, nowadays, it seems in His mercy He gives evildoers a lot of slack, and they go on and on (which isn't fair to their victims). We in contrast read in prophecy (which can't be changed) about the Great White Throne Judgement, where justice will be served. Now I ask, which prevails, God's "softness" with punishing sinners, or His timing with Judgement on schedule? Wondering...

We come before the Lord with this weighty question, seeking His wisdom and understanding. The tension between God’s unchanging nature and His perfect timing is one that many believers grapple with, especially when we see evil seemingly prosper while the righteous suffer. Let us turn to Scripture to illuminate this truth.

God declares in Malachi 3:6, *"For I, Yahweh, don’t change; therefore you, sons of Jacob, are not consumed."* His character is eternal—just, holy, and merciful. Yet we also see in 2 Peter 3:8-9, *"But don’t forget this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."* His patience is not weakness but an extension of His mercy, giving sinners time to turn from their ways.

The delay in judgment is not a failure of justice but a demonstration of His love. Romans 2:4-5 reminds us, *"Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? But according to your hardness and unrepentant heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath, revelation, and of the righteous judgment of God."* God’s "softness," as you put it, is not an absence of justice but an invitation to repentance. Yet we must never mistake His patience for indifference. The Great White Throne Judgment (Revelation 20:11-15) will come, and every deed will be accounted for.

So which prevails—God’s mercy or His timing? Both. His mercy operates within His perfect timing, and His timing ensures that mercy is fully extended before justice is executed. We must trust that He sees what we cannot. Psalm 37:7-9 urges us, *"Rest in Yahweh, and wait patiently for him. Don’t fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who makes wicked plots happen. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Don’t fret; it leads only to evildoing. For evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for Yahweh shall inherit the land."*

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in awe of Your perfect balance of justice and mercy. Forgive us for the times we doubt Your timing or question Your ways. Help us to trust that You are never late, never early, but always on time. When we see evil prosper, remind us that vengeance belongs to You (Romans 12:19) and that You will repay. Strengthen our faith to wait patiently, knowing that the Judge of all the earth will do right (Genesis 18:25). Give us hearts that long for the repentance of sinners, even as we cling to the hope of Your coming justice. May we rest in Your sovereignty, knowing that every tear will be wiped away and every wrong made right in Your perfect time. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We've been pondering the same thing, haven't we? It's tough to see wrongdoers seemingly getting away with their actions while the innocent suffer. But remember, God sees all and His ways are not ours to understand fully. In Jeremiah 29:11, He promises, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." This isn't just about us, but about His bigger picture.

Let's trust that He's working behind the scenes, even when we can't see it. It's like a puzzle where we only see a few pieces, but the artist knows exactly how they all fit together. We might not understand His timing, but we can be confident that He's always on time.

Let's pray: Lord, help us to trust in Your perfect timing. When we see injustice, remind us that You are the ultimate Judge. Give us patience and faith, knowing that You are working all things together for Your glory and our good. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

🙏Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. Bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God solution focused heart, mind, spirit, and attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so

One can see you have a consistent pursuit of so-called "plausible inconsistencies" in the face of answers that have clearly been provided on every one of your "questions." There have been invitations through internal mail to explain some of these "apparent contradictions" it seems you believe you are the first to have come across.

Be careful to not become guilty of "always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth" 2 Tim 3:7.

One might suggest you do some AI searches or look up your questions in online commentaries since it appears you are not truly interested in having dialogue regarding your topics or promoting the faith of The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

There are several passages in the New Testament that warn us to not promote endlessly debatable ideas of nebulous and opaque grasping after wind, that have all been covered thoroughly from ancient through modern theological circles and are specifically warned against for the purpose it is against the goal of the gospel -- which is the furtherance of its administration (preaching, teaching what Jesus said, c.f. Matt 28:20, "teaching them to obey everything I have commanded."

Even the Apostles were given a "non-answer" when inquiring as to certain things that are "not for them to now" but to refocus their mission to tarry in Jerusalem for the Holy Spirit, Luke 24:49, and becoming witnesses to the ends of the earth, Acts 1:8.

We are told to "pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, together with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. But reject foolish and ignorant speculation, for you know that it breeds quarreling," 2 Tim 2:23.

Indeed the whole New Testament is clear on these matters, from Jesus cautioning us we will give an account for every idle word we say, Matt 12:36.

In short we are to pursue certain things (faith, furthering what we know, being faithful with what we have, humility) and avoid certain things (peripheral topics which serve to take us away from The Lord and His Apostles teaching, and that which may injure others).

It may be highly recommended to again use patience and continue to read the whole Bible, but it seems this point so frequently addressed in the New Testament Epistles and Book of Acts has not been noticed. Therefore one would prescribe beginning in John and then Acts and then reading through to Jude. For now the reading of The Revelation of Jesus Christ would be avoided, since it appears abundantly clear some basic main points of the New Testament have been been unnoticed, and no doubt the mind would gravitate toward more fruitless parts like trying to predict the anti-christ, or figure out who the understanding the things uttered by the seven thunders, et cetera...

Leaving a few Scriptures seemingly overlooked though so ardent and studious an intellectual...

1 Timothy 1:5
The goal of our instruction is the love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and a sincere faith.

Acts 1:6-8
So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

2 Tim 2:23 But reject foolish and ignorant speculation, for you know that it breeds quarreling.
Titus 1:14
and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the commands of men who have rejected the truth.

2 Timothy 4:4
So they will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.

Colossians 2:8
See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, which are based on human tradition and the spiritual forces of the world rather than on Christ.

1 Timothy 6:20
O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you. Avoid irreverent, empty chatter and the opposing arguments of so-called “knowledge,”

2 Timothy 2:23
But reject foolish and ignorant speculation, for you know that it breeds quarreling.

Ephesians 4:14
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed about by the waves and carried around by every wind of teaching and by the clever cunning of men in their deceitful scheming.

1 Corinthians 8:1
Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.

1 Timothy 1:3-7
Just as I urged you upon my departure for Macedonia, to remain on at Ephesus so that you would instruct certain people not to teach strange doctrines, 4nor to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which give rise to useless speculation rather than advance the plan of God, which is by faith, so I urge you now. 5But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from a sincere faith. 6Some people have strayed from these things and have turned aside to fruitless discussion, 7wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions.
