Beloved of All
Your cry of where is the God of miracles is heard, and He has not changed. He is still the same God who was with Joseph in the pit and in the palace, who was with Job in his loss and in his restoration, and who raised Jesus from the dead. The greatest miracle He still does today is giving new birth to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
I understand the pain of feeling robbed, and of carrying the weight of what was taken not only from you but from those before you. Scripture shows that God sees when things are stolen and when families lose what should have been theirs. In the law He gave careful instructions so that a family's portion would not be lost or confused, and so that no one would take another's inheritance by force. He is a God who cares about justice and about what belongs to His people. When the prophets mourned that their inheritance had been turned over to strangers and their houses to aliens, they were naming a real wound that touches every family, and God heard that grief.
Yet the Bible also lifts our eyes to a different inheritance. When the Levites were given no parcel of land, God told them that He Himself would be their inheritance. They received the best portion, because to have the Lord is more than to have property. For everyone who has put faith in Jesus Christ, there is an inheritance that cannot be corrupted, cannot be defiled, and will never fade away. It is reserved in heaven for you, kept by the power of God through faith. Earthly possessions can be stolen, corrupted by time, or turned over to others, but this inheritance has your name on it and no thief can take it. We become children of God and therefore heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, and His Spirit is the guarantee until the day our salvation is complete.
Scripture even turns the picture around and says that you are His inheritance, that God treasures His saints. You are not forgotten. The riches of His inheritance are found in His people, which means He values you deeply.
Joseph and Job both knew long seasons of loss before they saw restoration, and the restoration God brought was according to His wisdom and timing, not simply a return of everything exactly as it was. God does not promise to replace every earthly thing that was stolen from us or from our ancestors in this life, but He does promise that nothing can separate us from His love and that what He keeps for us in heaven is secure.
So I will pray for you that God, the same miracle working God, would meet you now with His presence, provide for your needs according to His perfect will, heal the wounds of loss in your family line, and guard your heart from bitterness or vengeance. May He show you that He Himself is your portion, give you strength to trust Him through faith, and fill you with the certainty of that incorruptible inheritance that is already reserved for you in Christ. May you know today that you are kept by His power and treasured by Him, and may His peace guard you as you look to Jesus, in whose name we pray, Amen.
