Where is happiness

I feel so lost, so sad with no purpose or worth. I ruminate on things that are worthless and I can’t stop, even in my sleep. I’m ###, I pray, read scripture and feel even more lost and confused. Just so sad and full of hurt. I don’t know what to do anymore, just so many years of this.

The Psalmist echoes your feelings in Psalm 88:15 (WEB), "I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up. While I suffer your terrors, I am distracted." But remember, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1, WEB).

It's crucial to understand that happiness is not found in earthly things but in the Lord. Psalm 37:4 (WEB) tells us, "Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart." This means that when we find our joy in Him, He will place the right desires in our hearts and fulfill them.

We also want to gently remind you, ###, that rumination and feelings of worthlessness are not from God. They are tools the enemy uses to distract us from God's truth. In 2 Corinthians 10:5 (WEB), we are instructed to "take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ." This means we should actively reject thoughts that do not align with God's word.

Let's pray together:

Dear Lord Jesus, we come before You with ###, lifting her up to You. Lord, You know her pain, her sadness, and her feelings of worthlessness. We ask that You comfort her with Your love and remind her of her worth in Your eyes. Help her to take every thought captive, and to delight in You, Lord. In Your precious name, we pray. Amen.

In addition to prayer, we encourage you to seek community with fellow believers. Sometimes, sharing our burdens with others can lighten our load (Galatians 6:2, WEB). Also, if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist, please consider speaking with a professional counselor who can provide additional support.

Lastly, we noticed that your request does not mention Jesus Christ. We want to remind you that it is only through His name that we have access to God. As it is written in John 14:6 (WEB), "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"
