"For the Testimony of Jesus is The Spirit of Prophecy" (Rev 19:10).
"To prophesy is to understand and proclaim the truth concerning God, especially in the face of prevalent ignorance or opposition; this is also what is meant by holding 'the testimony of Jesus.' The angel in revealing these visions, the martyrs in openly professing Christ unto death, John in receiving and handing on the Apocalypse, were prophesying. Thus it was that the angel announces himself as a fellow servant of John, a fellow servant with the prophets, and with those "who keep the sayings of this book" (Rev 22:9). Pulpit Commentary
Yes, Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers are given to build up the body until we attain complete unity and maturity that rivals the stature of Jesus Himself (Eph 4:11-2), and we have not arrived, so unless I don’t believe Scripture, which I obviously do, the prophetic will be here until Christ returns.
Yes I believe in the gifts of the word of knowledge, word of wisdom, healing, tongues, interpretation, all that’s in the Bible, and it is also prophesying to announce to a crowd the mystery that Gentiles are now able to be joined to Jesus the Vine and become fellow heirs of life with the Jewish people theough theSuffering Servant — The Messiahs— who was the fulfilment of all the sacrifices (which sacrifices were actually prophesying Jesus would be the Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the World (John Baptiste, (The 4 Gospels).
There is really no difference, Natasha... You can use Scripture for one on one messages, messages to a church, a group of people, town hall, state or national legislative offices, anyone privately and publically. The Bible provides ample encouragement to exhort one another daily (Hebrews), to rescue someone going astray (Galatians and James), that iron sharpens iron (Proverbs) and that all Scripture is inspired by God already, and is useful for teaching, correction, encouragement and training in righteousness (2 Tim 3:16), we have the prophetic Word made more sure, which we do well to pay attention to, as we would a lamp in the time of complete darkness, 2 Peter, and most prophetic people encourage people to give the Holy Spirit language in your mind (wise people store up knowledge, Proverbs), so that we “will be able to sustain the weary one with a Word (Isaiah). “For like apples of Gold in Aetrings of Silver, so is the right word spoken at the right time. It just so happens that the people who have impacted the world the most for the Kingdom of God have not only prayed and been sensitive to the Holy Spirit, but were avid students (Moses, Jesus, Paul, The Early Church Fathers, Augustine, Luther, Calvin, Knox, Whitefield, Jonathan Edwards, Whitefield, etc). “Study to show yourself approved as a worker that need not be ashamed, accurately dividing the Word of Truth (2 Tim 2:15) is not a suggestion, but an order from the Holy Spirit. So yes, prophesy by all means (1 Cor 14 the whole Chapter), but there is no better way to deliver the burden than by having Scripture in Your mind memorized so that the prophecy may ride as in a Royal Chariot on The Golden Avenue of Scripture.
1 Corinthians 14You are surely gifted in speech. And yes agree with you concerning knowledge as the word sais THE WORD IN ALL KNOWLEDGE AND SPIRITUAL.UNDERSTANDING. So again knowing scriptures without the Holy spirit , faith and power is like when you try to play music on a wood (and you can do only the rhythm). I hope we agree with it. Some are very good scribes and know Bible very well but I feel only pressure of them which is not the Holy spirit but some other spirit or there is no power in the scripture that they qoute over and over like Jesus is coming soon...etc...I hope you understand what I mean. A real prophecy comes like a living water from our bellies and has the power to change lives. Off course that you must know the Bible but you must not know it letter by letter to tell the point what God wanted to say. I agree with you and I would like to go to some Bible study group but what is inside of us is a volcano of God's power if we only know how to activate it! Do you speak in tongues?
