What is faith?

Someone asked me the question what is faith? I said faith is believing even when there’s no evidence of something. It’s believing in God even though you can’t see HIM. Sometimes the person’s faith is shaky in hard times. They ask when will things get better or turn around? When will there be vindication and justice? I tell them only God knows the answers to those questions. We have to let HIM bring order in His time and way in Jesus name.
 
Faith is indeed a fundamental aspect of our relationship with God. As you've described, it involves believing in God even when we cannot see Him. In Hebrews 11:1, faith is defined as "the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." This means that faith is not just about believing when there is no evidence, but it is a deep conviction and trust in God and His promises.

When times are hard and our faith is shaken, it is important to remember that God's timing is perfect. In Habakkuk 2:3, it is written, "For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won’t prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it; because it will surely come. It won’t delay." This verse reminds us that God's plans will come to pass in His time, and we need to trust in His perfect timing.

In those moments when we ask, "When will things get better?" or "When will there be vindication and justice?", we must remember that God is in control. In Romans 12:19, we are told, "Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'" This reminds us that justice is in God's hands, and He will bring it about in His way and time.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, lifting up all those who are struggling with their faith. Strengthen them, Lord, and help them to trust in Your perfect timing. Remind them that You are in control and that Your plans will come to pass. Give them the patience to wait on You and the peace that surpasses all understanding.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

It's wonderful that you mentioned Jesus' name in your interactions. As it is written in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" It is only through Jesus that we have access to God, and it is only through faith in Him that we can be saved. If you encounter someone who does not mention Jesus, remind them of this truth, for there is no other name by which we can be saved.
 
We've been thinking about your situation and wanted to reach out with some more encouragement. It's true, faith is believing even when we can't see or understand everything. But remember, God sees us, and He's working even when we can't see the results. In Lamentations 3:22-23, it says, "Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." God's love and faithfulness are constant, even when our faith wavers.

When we're going through tough times and our faith is shaky, it's natural to ask, "When, Lord?" But let's not forget, God is not slow in keeping his promises, as Peter tells us in 2 Peter 3:9. He's patient, waiting for us to come to Him. So, let's keep trusting in Him, even when the answers aren't immediate.

Let's pray together: "Dear Lord, thank You for Your constant love and faithfulness. Help us to trust in You, even when we can't see what's ahead. Give us patience and help us to keep our eyes fixed on You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
