Multitudinous Thoughts and Sacred Comforts
Insomnia
We hear your cry and we join with you in bringing this burden before the Lord, for we know He cares deeply about every part of your life, including your body, your health, and your peace of mind. To lose weight from anxiety and stress and to lose the enjoyment of food is a heavy trial, and we want you to know you are not alone in this struggle.

The Lord understands the weight of anxiety and He invites us to lay it at His feet. We are reminded in Philippians 4:6-7, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And again in 1 Peter 5:7, casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. He does not want you to carry this stress alone. Jesus Himself says in Matthew 11:28, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. We also cling to Psalm 55:22, Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved.

We notice you prayed to lord, and we want to gently encourage you in this important truth, for it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 we read, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by the name of Jesus that our prayers are heard and our sins are forgiven when we put our faith and trust in Him, believing He died for our sins and rose again. If you have not already, we encourage you to call upon the name of Jesus Christ for salvation and for daily help, for there is power and peace in His name.

So together we lift you up in prayer.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to Your throne of grace. Lord, You see the anxiety and stress that has taken away appetite and caused weight to fall away. You know the body You have created and You know every need. We ask You to calm this troubled heart and mind with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. We pray that You would restore the ability to taste and enjoy food as Your good gift, and that You would bring healing and strength to the body, that weight would be restored in a healthy way according to Your will. Lord, we pray as in 3 John 1:2 that our loved one may prosper and be in health, even as the soul prospers. Quiet the anxious thoughts, help to cast every worry upon You, and remind this heart that You are near, for Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Grant restful sleep, nourishment, and renewed joy in daily bread. Lead to wise counsel and medical help if needed, and help to trust You day by day. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our hope and healer, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to bring every anxious thought to Him in prayer throughout the day, with thanksgiving, and to also care for your body as the temple of the Holy Spirit as taught in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Try to keep a gentle routine of regular meals, rest, and time in the Word, even when appetite is small, and consider sharing this struggle with a trusted pastor, counselor, or medical provider who can walk with you and ensure there is no underlying physical cause that needs attention. God is not distant from your physical needs, He is your sustainer and He will uphold you with His righteous right hand as promised in Isaiah 41:10, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. We are praying that the Lord will restore your strength, renew your appetite, and fill you with His perfect peace in Christ Jesus.

We've been thinking about your request and how discouraging it must feel to want to enjoy food again and see your strength return, and instead feel anxiety taking that away.

It's understandable that ongoing stress can affect appetite and weight, and feeling unable to taste or enjoy food can make daily life feel even harder. You are not alone in that experience, and we are grateful you reached out for prayer.

Alongside prayer, we would gently encourage you to reach out soon to your primary care doctor about the weight loss and change in appetite, so they can listen, check in on your overall health and walk with you on next steps. If you have a pastor or counselor you trust, sharing how the anxiety has been weighing on you could also bring extra support as you go.

We are holding you in prayer and asking God to bring you comfort, rest and wisdom for each step ahead.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus' name. You see the anxiety and stress they are carrying and how tired their body feels. We ask for Your peace to steady them, for wisdom for those caring for them, and for renewed strength day by day. Help them to feel Your nearness and care. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

Your trial has been laid before the Lord, and we have prayed with you that He who feeds the sparrows and clothes the lilies would look upon your body and your spirit in mercy.

You speak of anxiety and stress taking away your strength and your appetite so that food has lost its taste and your weight has fallen. Our Saviour gives this injunction, Do not be so affected by external things as to get into a state of worry, fretfulness, care, anxiety and distress. He would have you be prudent and diligent in the duties of this life, yet not eaten up with care about temporal affairs. As has been well said, anxiety has never comforted anybody, nor has it ever brought any grist to the mill or any meal to the barrel. If a thing does not pay, what is the good of it. Indeed the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. To carry your burden alone is to be crushed by it, but to cast it upon Christ is to find Him able to bear it for you.

It is a great blessing when food and appetite meet together. Some have appetite and no meat, and they need our pity. Others have meat but no appetite. Only the happy conjunction of the appetite and the food can secure content. Are we thankful enough when we have both. When the Lord restores to you the simple grace of tasting your food with thankfulness, receive it as from His hand. While you pray to God to give you an appetite, look also to Him who satisfies the hungry soul. The fitness needed for eating is an appetite, and the fitness needed for receiving Christ is a sense of need. He by Himself has purged our sins and He alone can give peace to the troubled heart, for there is no true peace apart from grace.

We have prayed that the Lord would quiet your anxious thoughts, calm your mind, restore your taste for food, and strengthen your body that you may gain what has been lost. May He teach you day by day to cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you, to take no anxious thought for tomorrow but to trust your Father who knows what you have need of, and to find in Christ Himself the bread that satisfies. May He give you sleep, settle your spirit, and make your table again a place of thankfulness.

We will continue to remember you before the throne of grace, asking that you may be restored in body, steadied in mind, and kept in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
