We read of false "gods" in the Bible, like the Philistines worshipped Dagon, etc. But a certain thing I see is making me think FEAR can be our god. Like, coronavirus is on the downslide now we see the numbers..yet, even after knowing that, and vaccinations, and seeing some things get back to normal, I still see some wearing masks where it's not required, backing off in terror from others, {even when the other person has a mask} wearing a mask when alone in their car, and other fearful acts. I mean, even in the face of improving conditions, they still cling to the fear. This is a CHOICE. They don't want to give up the fear. So I'm thinking, since the fear controls them instead of God, isn't that, technically, a false god? Baal, Dagon, the Astoreth images...and FEAR. "God has not given us the spirit of fear." I mean.. how long can they milk it? Getting played out already. Letting fear control their life.

Anything can be an anchor or a small god. Fear can certainly be a negative anchor. Fear is anti-faith. We choose other gods because we don't have faith in God. Fear breeds hate. Fear is most certainly problematic.

And with all that, it won't make them immortal. When God calls them, masks and shields and backing off in terror won't stop it. "Who by worrying can add one minute to their life?"
